Jamaica will host the final round of the 2008 Digicel Caribbean Cup. JFF have requested that Haiti directly qualify to the final round and CFU have agreed. The Caribbean Cup kicks off in July. http://www.digicelfootball.com
Qualifying Round Draw The draw has apparently been made for the 1st qualifying rounds that begin in July/August 2008. So far, I've only been able to find one group Cayman Islands Dominica Guadeloupe Martinique Matches will be played in Dominica. Looks like Guadeloupe & Martinique will have a comfortable passage into the 2nd Round.
Re: Qualifying Round Draw Dominica could surprise some people, I doubt the Caymans have much of a chance. I don't know if it was meant to be this way, but I'm pretty sure Dominica, Guadeloupe, and Martinique all right next to each other as well as Montserrat
Re: Qualifying Round Draw I feel sorry for Dominica. They have been trying hard to get back to the elite of the lesser antilles teams. Dominica is independent.
Re: Qualifying Round Draw The last time around they did set the first round groups up pretty much by geography. There were a few exceptions, but it was evident.
Re: Qualifying Round Draw Thanks. I love the way they hold these stealth draws. No announcement on the CFU website, Concacaf site, nothing. In fact couldn't find anything else in French or English in the news.
Re: Qualifying Round Draw There's a CFU website? http://caribbeanfootballunion.org/cms2/ Sure enough...must be new?
The plot thickens...... I just received confirmation from SVGFF (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation) that they have indeed registered to play in the Digicel Caribbean Cup for this year, but as yet have received no correspondence from CFU regarding the outcome of the draw. I wonder how Guadeloupe and Martinique managed to squeeze the info out of CFU?
The full draw has been announced. It was made at last weekends CFU congress in Guadeloupe. Antigua/Barbuda has been left out and will have no chance of a Caribbean Cup title or 2009 Gold Cup berth. FIXTURES UNVEILED FOR 2008 DIGICEL CARIBBEAN CUP
I've just finished the Wikipedia for the tournament http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caribbean_Nations_Cup_2008 It doesn't appear the CFU is doing a great job to me. 10 teams are not in it and instead of just having the tournament over the summer, the first two rounds alone last 3 and half months. In the 2006-07 edition the first round took only a month. Please do correct me if I am wrong about the CFU or CONCACAF.
Antigua and Barbuda were excluded....plus you forgot to change the "with so far only the results of the draw for one of the qualifying groups being known"
CFU President Jack Warner said ..... (of the Digicel Caribbean Cup). “This tournament continues to grow...." How can he say this when less teams are participating, and before it has even kicked off? For the record, the 10 teams (one third of CFU membership) not participating: Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, French Guiana, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Sint Maarten, Turks & Caicos Islands, United States Virgin Islands
I see the following 8 teams in the finals: Haiti, Jamaica, Cuba, Guadeloupe, Trinidad & Tobago, Martinique, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Grenada, with a realistic chance for Guyana, Barbados or Suriname also.

Fair enough I guess, though I wonder what Antigua's side is. Still, what about the other 9 teams not in it? In my opinion, 5 more teams should be allowed in and just sorted into the 5 groups
Its a pity all teams couldn't play..disappointed about Antigua, have a soft spot re-enforced since visiting the island. Long first round just to remove 5 teams? Could have added another couple of nations and played one qualifying round..
very dissapointed that again no PR and no DR. I thought PR especially was getting serious about their football, not only does not playing in this torney not give them vital practise and experience, its the only means of gettin a berth to the Gold Cup, which is a realistic short term goal for these teams.
