I am all for the physical side of soccer, hell I broke a kids leg playing. It was a legal tackle, and I am not proud of it, but it happens in the game sometimes. I also had my knee messed up by a kid I had played club soccer with since we were 8, but this was in school soccer and he was defending me and it was a legal tackle. Both times, legs were planted wrong and tackles were hard.

Tackles like Taylor's, no matter if the player is malicious, bad or stupid, don't just happen in the game of soccer. No one is that slow to react and no one does that kind of damage without having some type of idea or intent about what he is doing.

I agree with whoever said it above, Taylor is out for as long as Eduardo is. It was a foolish tackle and the pictures and videos are hard to watch.

I feel bad for Eduardo, it also looked like Fabregas was going to throw up on the pitch. He turned very pale when he saw that.

I heard about it and read about. Now after seeing the tackle I have to say it was as much as it is very painful and sick to watch, the tackle it self from what I think is not malicious as many people are talking about. I think it's very clumsy and very late.

But sad for Eduardo, he has a long and brutal road of recovery ahead of him.

People say they don't see the malice.

Taylor came in hard and late. He lunged/jumped onto Eduardo's ankle, it was not a sliding tackle. He had his studs up and didn't try to pull out of the tackle at all.

If that's not malice or intent, what is?

wenger has retracted his statement, there are a few things to be considered, Ed over shot the ball so the situation as ripe, secondly no way is that tackle high, thirdly his foot planted into the ground like that helped the injury.

If the guy gets banned until the end of the season, it may make a statement.

Started watching the Arsenal game at about 30 mins so missed the tackle...i just saw it and i dont know of any words to describe how we all feel for Eduardo. Its much more than being sympathetic...i cant wait for the day (if it happens) that he walks back out onto a football field for Arsenal...it would be one moment you would have to see.

Martin Taylor didnt even look apolagetic after he did it...ban him for the season and then i hope Birmingham cut him loose and he never plays football again.

Bad news for Eduardo and Arsenal, but let's not overreact to unfortunate tackles. Given the minutae of the sequence of events, I'd even hesitate to call it clumsy.

Taylor is not a malicious player and he looked stunned, rather than unapologetic, in the immediate aftermath. Shit happens. It's no consolation to him of course, but Eduardo will be given the best medical care available throughout his recovery and continue to be paid handsomely whilst he recovers, which will hopefully be a swift process.

Here is a good video of the incident that clearly shows the connection and injury.

I feel really bad for Eduardo. This looks so painful even to watch never mind having to receive it. The tackle looks mistimed to me thanks to Eduardo moving the ball quickly. I hope he recovers fully.

NB. You should recognize the pundits in the studio ;)

I was watching this but had to rush out the door; it was 1-1 when I left. This bit of news pleases me very much but not because I like Spurs. :)

Chelsea to me is a symbol for everything that is wrong with football and I take great pleasure in each and every defeat they suffer.

Might want to turn the sound off. ;)

    Re: Eduardo....

This makes me sick. Lucky ass Manchester United with Arsenal throwing it away late in the game to add insult to injury. Eduardo always finds a way to score and has been one of the few players in the EPL I like outside of Liverpool. I dreamed about a pairing of him with El Nino. I was looking forward to him giving Germany fits this summer but alas its not to be :(. Heres hoping for a speedy recovery and Arsenal still lifting the title ahead of the scum despite the two setbacks.

    Re: Chelsea losing...

I'm so happy they finally got exposed for their overrated, boring ass team. Good on you Spurs.

You described it perfectly...they are boring even with all their overrated players and even with a coach who said the least he would do is make them play football. Petr "long ball" Cech is a major contributor to this boredom...watch what he does with the ball when an opposition player is 40 metres away compared with what Reina does...thats actually pass the ball.

    Good summation you made...
    Spurs > Chel$ki
    Arsenal > Scum

At least the teams on the left play football. I hate both teams on the right...i actually hate those teams almost twice as much as Everton (partly because of Timmy Cahill)

    Congratulations Spurs...!!!
Cracking start to the match, shame you couldn't get that early goal.

Loved the way Henry tried not to give the ball to the ref for the PK, funny how it goes from the other end of the stick, isn't it Terry.

    ******

Makes mental note again, especial for the second legs of the CL match ups.
"When using the DVR always record the next hours show after the time allotted for the match or you'll miss the end of the extra time and/or the PKs"

Like I just did!!! Had to come here for the final result.

Real loses to Getafe at home 0-1...the goal is funny though...Real scored but the man with the assist (I think Raul) was offside - nobody noticed the flag and the players celebrated in the corner - Getafe played on and had a 4 on 2 break...

    Two things.

    1. Robben's mixed face of confusion then disbelief.

    2. Ruud Van Barbaro's face of disbelief and complaining.

I really hope that people can see this and realize why it isn't a good idea to go in with the studs up. Regardless of the intent, speed or force, it isn't a safe or smart practice to tackle that way.

Shades of Cisse', glad it didn't happen.

Big match for us on right now. the Manchester Blues vs The Bitter Blues.
I'd like to wish both teams best of luck. I really believe that they deserve to share the points....
