when? next call up? no under 20 player will get called up for the senior side on the next call-up.
Maybe a year or two from now JPP (midfielder) and Libis (gk) are the most likely to make it.

The only player that is an under 20 that Caraemondinga mentions is Pino....

I know, but I think what we mean by sub20 is the actual group of "juveniles" that has been working together since they placed 3rd in the sub20 mundial in Saudi Arabia, and won the suramericano with Rodallega. If its actual age, then like "la mechita" said I dont see too many names being called. Pino is still to raw.

I'm not a big Dayro fan but he is a really really good player. I'm starting to realize he's better then Rodallega as well.

We have our 2 goalies that are really good Arenas and Ospina... but I dont think either will be starters for our NT for a while maybe 2014 for Ospina... Arenas maybe will be our starter for Copa America if he wins his spot in Lazio, which i think is doubtful. The thing is its really hard become the starting goalie because u have to have the teams starting goalie get injured or somehing.

Pino I thought was amazing but I have only seen him play in the central american games and all those teams were jokes. I dont see any sub 20 players making our NT because our last crop of sub 20 players r soooo good and will make up the bulk of our team like guarin, castrillon, augilar, perea, renteria, falaco, rodagella... Its an exciting time in colombia.

Also did any one watch the argentina-brasil game... a player who plays in the Ukraine scored 2x... and was amazing... so if anyone was doubting Oltavaros and Pepes move... should think twice

Strange. I feel almost certain that El Tiempo had run a story on his upcoming trial with the Real reserves.

Here's hoping he uses the Sub20 chance to earn some attention.

I'd add Otalvaro onto the list of proming young Colombian footballers. I know that he never bloomed at America, but whenever he's put on the national kit he's been dynamite. I hope he can flourish in the Ukraine.

i hope shermand doesnt go to real ... HE WILL NEVER PLAY !!!

no matter how good he is he will be lost.... Robiho, Cassano, Baptista... all great players went to madrid got lost and lose form.... CONGO !!! Listen I would love more than anyone to have our players in huge clubs like madrid and barca but the truth is that those clubs want super stars for clubs... Shermand could be better than half the players on Real but they still wouldnt play him. Morientes was better than Raul, and Owen was better than Raul and Ronaldo and both never played !! Real wants galaticos.

I prefer he goes to Real Betis or another sub par team that never gets demoted but he can show how good he is and get to play. Its better he goes to a crap team and shows his worth than going to the biggest club on earth and never play.

Cardenas wouldn't go there to join the first team. He'd go into their youth system to develop, which I think is ideal because the experience, nutrition and physical maturity gained in youth systems abroad is remarkable (unless your name is Johnnier...).

That said, Real isn't as well known as having the strongest "cantera" in Spain since they almost never give their own kids a chance in favour of galacticos. Still, I'd prefer a young Colombian player have the chance to experience life abroad and play amongst top talent surrounded by coaches who know what they are doing...

Honestly, what are you talking about with Robinho?

He's only been in Spain for one season and done quite well considering how other strikers have faired upfront for the Merengues in recent years (see: Owen, Cassano, et all failing). He is definitely going to be competing for a starting role at Real this year (with Ronnie basically done, and Baptista moved on).

I thought he was one of the brightest lights for the Scratch in Germany, and looked fantastic against the Argentines yesterday.

In any case, the two are completely different cases. Very few people here have ever heard or seen Cardenas play. Whereas Robinho can be accredited with reawakening a gigantic club after 20 years of hibernation, winning his league in his rookie season, guiding them to the final of the Libertadores in his second season and then leading the Brasilian league in scoring in his third season. Even if Robinho were to fail catastrophically in Spain, which I don't think he will, he's already accomplished enough to be quite mythical for many Brasilian fans.

I can only hope Cardenas does even a smidge of that somewhere.
