Lucky for you, this 'whine' as you call it is taking place on the Liverpool board which of course you have no business being on. So go on back to the Man U board with your millions of 14 year old fans and chat about Ronaldo's latest boot selection and what new move they have just figured out on their FIFA game. At times you add quality insight to topics we are discussing over here, but your feelings toward what we write about MAN U on OUR forum is of no interest, I assure you, to any of us here. I think of you in higher regard than a troll, I'd rather you not prove me wrong.
Hutton, Hudlestone and Berbatov were very good. Keane should have put that chance away and ensured the three points but the Spurs defense is still far from perfect. I have to admitt though, Ramos has turned this team around. They are much more organized and disciplined than they were at the beginning of the season. I think they'll do really well the second half of the season.
Chimbonda wasnt playing very well at RB and Lee and Asou-Ekkoto (sp?) arent good enough in defence. This was also the same plan that Rafa had when Arbs played at LB against Barca and Messi...it worked very well as Ronaldo had a terrible game.
Good weekend for other results...Man City and Villa both lost, while Everton got only 1 point...hopefully this continues while Man City are looking the most vulnerable out of that three.
Leeds name McAllister as new boss http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/leeds_united/7215732.stm Not sure if I've been out of the loop or this just slipped my eye, but strange I'm not hearing about this till now.
And although they are our biggest rivals, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the 50th anniversary of 'the Flowers of Manchester'. Half a century may have passed, but the legend of the Busby Babes will never be forgotten. The victims of the Munich disaster Players Roger Byrne (captain), Mark Jones, Eddie Colman, Tommy Taylor, Liam 'Billy' Whelan, Duncan Edwards, David Pegg and Geoff Bent. Journalists Alf Clarke, Don Davies, George Follows, Tom Jackson, Archie Ledbrooke, Henry Rose, Eric Thompson, Frank Swift. Club officials, supporters and crew Walter Crickmer (club secretary); Bert Whalley (chief coach); Tom Curry (club trainer); Captain Kenneth Rayment (co-pilot); Bela Miklos (travel agent); Willie Satinoff (fan); Tom Cable (air steward) RIP YNWA
Fair enough. But, I have a hard time sharing any sympathy with a certain fans that continually mocks and/or belligerently teases similarly tragic events that have happened within my club. Especially when that the same group of fans tends to _blame_ our club and fans for European bans and general European distrust on our tragic, painful circumstances. Not to mention, these same fans choose to use their own tragedy as a means to account for football success that may have occurred if not for the unfortunate event. How convenient. Edit: And, then I get neg-repped for my post. Typical.
A tragedy that should transcend petty football tribalism. These were people who sadly died and were injured in a plane crash. The fact that some played football for a rival club is merely incidental. Commiserations to the families of the bereaved and injured in this event. It makes one reflect (as an England fan) what difference to the England WC teams of 1958, 1962 or 1966 might have occurred were this tragedy to have been avoided. Liverpool fans should also remember that Busby was our former Club Captain.
I was a young teen back then and I remember beind stunned and choked by the news. Yes I was a hard core Liverpool man by then our rivals where Everton and we where down among the dead men in Div. 2. Busby was a Shankly type man with a dream and we appreciated it. His "Babes" were really the toast of Britain a wonderful team that he'd put together and probably as close as any manager put out team to be known as Englands team. I think just about all of England wanted then to bring home the cup that year. Now times have changed, Plastics like the Toady Bitch send out mean spirited posts and 1 in 10 of the fans might come from Manchester but it's global game now for the world to enjoy. We lost a lot with the Busbie babes and their spirit. YNWA I remember they sang that at the memorial service...!!!
Today on Melbourne's 24 hour sports radio station, Harry Gregg (Munich survivor and former Man Utd goalkeeper) was interviewed and recalled minute by minute the events from the landing at Munich from Belgrade and the take off from Munich to the period after he left the hospital and met with the cabin crew again. It was an absolutely chilling and amazing interview...he wasnt interrupted and spoke about every detail, even recalling what time that an event happened from start to finish and was a real insight into what really happened. I was perfectly still for the whole interview so that i didnt make a noise and miss something that he said. It was also replayed later at night (about 30 mins ago) and im sure that many people will now have an understanding of what really happened from him recalling the events. This also makes everyone understand that it was fellow human lives that have been lost and not just famous sportsmen. They were and are ordinary people with families and when i heard exactly what happened, i shudder to think of what it would be like if it involved someone i personally knew. RIP and you will certainly NWA.
Unfortunately Reading weren't able to hold Everton at bay. It doesn't look good for Reading to come back, considering they were never really threatening. Everton's goal looked offsides. Vaughn almost scored an audacious bicycle kick. I thought Reading would try and do us a favor by holding Everton to a draw. Every weekend that Everton wins, it just makes it that much more vital that we get points from every match.
That is the mentality of mid-table plodders. Much prefer that we do ourselves a favour by winning tomorrow, to be honest.
Getting interesting in the local rivalries stakes. Everton are 4 points ahead of Liverpool, Sunderland are just 2 points behind Newcastle who are a point behind Middlesbrough.
this should be quite a nerve-racking run to the finish tomorrow night we could be 3 or 4 pts back of Everton (w/ a game in hand) I'm pro-Rafa, but, can you imagine him finishing behind Everton again, and in his 4th year? Everton's next league match is at ManCity (who's form has declined) and should have a major impact on the chase for 4th
(to fellow yanks) YA Nation could be in mourning come May Reading, Fulham and Derby Cty dropped? the gnashing of keyboards would be out-of-control
Oh for sure. But I have a feeling that if Fulham go down Dempsey might go to a different Premier League team.
After watching Fulham and Dempsey I would say that the championship is about his level. Mcbride is another matter, he will have no problem finding another prem outfit like Bolton or Sunderland, but Dempsey is to one sided and not enough vision.
