Is there a faint hope for us this season? Have the new signings, especially C.Gomez- swayed your thoughts? Could this be the start of something great????? Or just more of the same? How can we summarize this as we wait, with all the new ideas brewing in our heads? "Hold onto your butts" -Samuel L. Jackson
Is there faint hope in this season? I think this team is a very solid group. The only question I would ask is could we beat a team like Houston or LA Galaxy when it comes time? We have arguably the best or second best back line in the MLS, paired with the combo of Pablo and C. Gomez. Then you have two really good wingers. The only thing missing is a goal scorer, it can be HERCZ if he is healthy. Have the new signings, especially C.Gomez- swayed your thoughts? The new signings have left me optimistic. I believe we can win, if we falter during the course of this season, then is the FO willing to make the change needed to becoming a winning team. Could this be the start of something great????? Or just more of the same? I don't think someone can answer that until at least the end of training camp. They need to build a good chemisty between each other. Once that develops and players aren't as injured nor moving positions around then possibly. But it takes time. No I don't think its the same. In terms of excitment, it is very different. Only because we had a brand new stadium last year, and things were looking good. How can we summarize this as we wait, with all the new ideas brewing in our heads? The only way I can summarize to this is that we have improved at A-mid. Added depth to our back line, and kept Terry. "Don't let what you can't do, stop you from doing what you can do" John Wooden
our most needed thing on the team is a freaking goal keeper you lads are crazy thinking bouba can ever be considred good his shite casey and cummings been training really hard i went up to the training grounds a few time and was able to watch a little there getting better
You could have good players, but, if you have a coach who doesn't know how to train them, or utilize them on the field, it won't be worth much (unless they dissent and just play a better style despite the coach.)
We've got so much defensive depth. I can definitely see a trade for a striker if fernando's scouting efforts don't bear any fruit. Maybe hilgenbrinck for somebody like a chris rolfe level player. eskandarian? wolniack? chad barrett?
dude... his name is BOUNA... and i dont see you out there. He has come a long way... dont knock the man.
Exactly. Bouna's done some amazing stuff and we're lucky to have him. If you're going to knock something about the Rapids, knock the coach. That's where more of the blame lies. There's a reason people say it's "Bouna Time."
I like it! Hmmmm... I was hoping for a new from Clavijo. Last year he said all the pieces were in a place and no excuses, yadda, yadda, yadda. I wish this year he'd come out and say "There isn't a player here that I want; nothing's ready for the season and we're going to finish in last place." Then, then we would know we actually have a chance of winning the MLS Cup.
Lucky is right - because I doubt he'll be around too much longer. Bouna's not a top drawing player, and stems from a position in our country that is tops in the world IMO - If someone were to come along with a couple few million - MLS/Rapids are gonna sell him. We're probably going to be visited by some European scouts this year!
If he has been dismembered then maybe he could try out as several players at the same time, or even better, he could become Jeff Plush's media assistant. All things considered, Bouna is the last person I am concerned about. I don't think anyone could possibly question his athleticism. All he has lacked is seasoning and coaching, and assuming that the new goalie coach is here to do just that, he should be acquiring the pieces he might have been missing.
I'm optimistic about this season. I think the Gomez trade will move us up to about 13th in the league.
