The man is fantastic, he could have made about 5 gols agains Genoa. He has this ability to be in the right place at the right time. His 2nd goal was just phenomenal! Speaking of phenomenal, why did Ronaldo not play? Was he injured again?

Phenomenal ??? I give him credit for following up on the play, but that was some poor finishing on the 1st shot. He has actually missed some very easy goals since his first game. He missed 2 in the first game, one in the mid-week, and another one today that were one-on-one with the goalie. He could have easily had 6 goals by now. I am surprised because I know his finishing is better than what he has shown. But he is only 18 and I am sure he will start converting those chances soon enough. So no worries ... what has been impressive is his speed and how well he moves.

Ronaldo is hurt ... yet again. Muscle problem.

On another note, look at this ridiculous description about Pato's performance today from Gazeta Esportiva ...

These guys have to be joking. The first goal, he was wide open and didn't have to "jump" higher than any defender. And in the second one ... finished off with his right with precision from the top of the box ??? WTF !!!

This looks like shameless nationalistic promotion.

I agree with you that we are biased towards Pato. Maybe it is because of the lack of strong centro-avantes in the slelecao...:)

Does anyone have all of Pato's stats since he became pro?

Like all of his Inter, u20, and club world cup stats?
    Thanks.:)

wiki says 12 in 26 matches.

I know Pato scored 5 in 9 games during u20 sa championship, and 1 goal in 2 games in the cwc.

I want to see if he averages more than .5 goals per match.

Then went off injured. Let us hope it is not serious enough to rule him out of Dublin.

He will probably get replaced and it would have to be by a domestic player.

23/5/87 - as a sub. Same city but vastly different stadium (and we lost 1-0!).

Well, Dunga won't start Pato if he plays, even before the injury. He would have most likely come on as a sub in the second half.

Still would have been good to see him. Looks like he is out - Ancelotti says he has twisted his ankle.

Lucio is a surprise: played the full 90 Friday but is cut on Monday. I do not like it. Would one of our German amigos please enlighten us?

I listened to the game on Jovem Pan and heard from a reporter on the field say that there was arguing going on between Dunga and Jorginho. I think that Jorginho wanted to sub in all the young guys into the game right after half time to give them experience and Dunga wanted to leave the veterans in and go for the win. I think that Dunga should have subbed in the younger guys to give them the experience that they needed, after all this is why he brought them to Dublin in the first place right? Why should Tiago Neves and Hernanes fly all the way to Dublin to practice once and spend the who second half warming up on the sidelines for a game that they would not get into?

    Kudos to you!

It's for this kind of insight in the football future that I launched a simple little game about being the first to foresee the bright future of young players. I like the idea of being able to say: I was the first to tell about him! Exactly as you were the first to name Pato...

And guess: the name of the game is Fantasy Scout and the first player called (2 January 2007) was Pato! You should really join the game ;) Anyway, anyone is invited to join. Rules are here:

One thing I have noticed about Pato.........

He is fast as ****. The kid is skinny, and white, but boy can he run.

Interesting fact about Pato scoring on his first game for the Selecao is that he joina a not too shabby group made up of Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Pele'.

Hopefully that's a good indication of his future.

Yep, the moment it left his boot I thought it was in the goal - one of the few things to put a smile on my face on a miserable night weather-wise
