Another must win for Roma as we closed the gap on Inter to 5 points. Let's hope for another Inter slip up and get within touching distance with Inter.

I hate these Goal.com and Channel4 previews, they feel so robotic. Like the person writing them doesn't even watch the matches, just looks at some recent statistics and writes the article.

Ya, seems like Roma are context scoring a goal and protecting the lead. I don't mind that tactic, but given Roma's history of blowing leads....this seems like a trend that i do not want becoming to familiar with Roma.

I think part of the problem is that our opponents have learned how to play against us. They aren't exposing themselves the way they used to, they've changed their play to containment and counter attack.

Durring the rest of the course of this season and the start of the next season Spalletti would be wise to focus on getting the team to really learn how to vary it's attacking plays. We still dominate possession and manage to dictate the flow of the game, but too often we get caught running the same play. More alteration between moving the team forward which is our main tactic, and perhaps launching a player who drives upfield and tries to hold the ball for his teammate.

It won't be an easy win, but lets hope they can pull out a big win and that Inter ties or loses today..

Totti seems to have shaken off his flu and should be back at full form.

    HT Siena 2-0 Roma

What a terrible half. I have not seen Roma play this bad ina long time. No creativity, not battling for balls...just a terrible display from everyone. I think it's due to the CL where Roma fielded a strong lineup. But, this is a not Roma...Spalletti better give them a good bashing at the the halftime break.

Great performance by Siena...getting everyone behind the ball and counter attacking with authority. Similar to what they did against Inter.

Yeah very bad display so far. Better bring on Vucinic. This system with Totti as a forward doesn't convince me at all. (No target man=no aim) No substance in attack nor some much variety.

Cicinho needs to come on. Cassetti is playing very poorly.

Siena is playing with a $hitload of confidence this game. They aren't sitting back and trying to protect the lead at all! They are still pressing forward, showing no fear whatsoever and still trying to build on that 2-0 lead! Roma on the other hand look lazy and unmotivated...

A WELL DESERVED LOSS! We didn't do anything right at any point this game and allowed Siena to completely overrun us.

Guess what my friends, as of today we have officially lost the scudetto as far as I'm concerned...

Was there an issue with Spaletti not making good substitutions/putting the right people on the pitch or was it a tactical problem? Or did we just plain suck?

We just plain sucked. The defense (Ferrari in particular) was absolutly brutal and had numerous difficulties in clearing the ball from the penalty area, which led to Siena getting numerous quality opportunities to increase their lead.

Our forwards weren't much better. Quality scoring chances were few and far between, and the Siena backline did a great job of blocking practically every single shot that our forwards attempted. A few horribly missed opportunities (like Perrotta's sitter about 8-10 yards in front of the goal in the second half) also didn't help our cause much, and some horrible crossing from our guys on the wing only made matters more frustrating.

Just plain sucked...i think it had to do with the Coppa Italia to be honest. We didn't come out with any energy and we let Siena control the game. Surely, wasn't a typical Roma today. Every player was filled with frustration and we're very lucky no one got a red card. Totti deserved one, Pizarro deserved one...best to put this game behind us and move on.

    Very uninspired Roma today...

How in the heck can you blame Ferrari? Tonetto and Cassetti were easily the worst defenders today. Tonetto especially as he was at fault on the first and second goals which more or less sealed the deal.

I told you guys not to start talking about a Scudetto race to early on.

The worst we've played in ages. We made Siena look like Brazil. I
don't think Spalletti can lead this team to a scudetto over Inter, to
be honest -- it was painful to watch that sad-sack expression on his
face as we were being roasted today. He got everything wrong and
there was no reaction at half-time. Aquilani and Giuly needed to start,
Taddei and Perrotta needed to be on the bench, and for sure Totti
should have been subbed for Vucinic. Not only was he a shadow out
there, but that punch on Manninger and dive are going to cost him a
    suspension mostly likely. Embarrasing.

No comment on our 'defense' except I want Panucci back.

Yeah, I thought Ferrari had a decent game. He really got exposed for his lack of pace a few times though.

Yes and no, Spalletti really left Ferrari exposed in the 2nd half. He moved Cassetti forward and shifted to a 3 man defensive line. Which left a nice amount of free space behind Cassetti, unfortunately for us Siena saw this and immediately capitalized it. Ferrari was forced to make a lot of lengthier sprints to block down Siena's man.

I was really disappointed with Tonetto today. He made quality runs up field, but he lacked with his final crosses. Shame that it was his error on the goal, as he did well the play before to win the ball.

Everyone was off today...wonder why Cicinho wasn't brought on for Cassetti?

Roma were complacent...simple as that. Spalletti looked furious when they showed clips of him. I haven't seen him that anger in quite a while.

I like Spaletti, and I think he is a good tactician, but he doesn't know how to play his people and he needs to work on his substitutions.
