Re: 1.31.08 - Press Conference Recap I'd like to editorialize for a moment. There were a ton of very excited folks there today all with limited representation of their group. It seemed like 3 to 5 reps from each union, city and county sectors, and SoB were there. It was very appropriate that we were there in a very token manner. I can't wait for the throwdown that will be the MLS team announcement where all of us can celebrate together. Let's celebrate this hurdle being cleared at the Dark Horse next Wednesday at 9.
Re: 1.31.08 - Press Conference That machinery is there working on the Riverwalk. Also, in that same article is this great line
OH this is so exciting...and practically right in my backyard!!! I thought for sure government would bollacks this up somehow and let this great opportunity slip through our fingers. Thank the Lord they have come through this time! COME ON, PHILLY!
Re: 1.31.08 - Press Conference Recap What is someone gets too excited post game and accidentally kicks a puppy? And all the puppies had assumed their days of abuse where over and then the puppies fight back against the tyranny because we broke the deal, and they end the dictatorship the humans had over the earth, and then that would be the first and last game at new totally awesome stadium? But anyway, Bryan those pictures are amazing, and this is all just so exciting.
It keeps getting better. Comcast Sports Night just did a nice story on the press conferance inwhich a local official announced the soccer stadum would most likely start construction in the 2nd quarter of 2008. I don't want to jump the gun,but the word formality was used in regards to the MLS awarding Philadelphia a Team
That was Rob Buccini one of the owner/investors. He has redeveloped Wilmington's waterfront. If you want a good laugh, Channel 6 took youtube of us from the NY trip and the MLS Cup trip and are including it in their story at 11.
I really like this Jim Nevel guy!! Seems like the ownership group have great vision. I love the fact that they want to get involved with high school soccer in Chester.
We've had the distinct pleasure of being able to talk briefly to Mr. Jim Nevels (they made a mistake) at these last two press conferences. He's as nice and genuine as he appears in that video, and is as committed to Chester as we are.
I absolutely loved that Futbol quote. Any one else think Kick start chester would be a cool scarf idea?
interestingly, Mr. Nevels became interested in MLS through his work on the board of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and his good friend Lamar Hunt.
Saw you at 6. Bumped twice in one week at the late night news. Damn. The website doesnt have the 6 oclock video up.
Re: 1.31.08 - Press Conference Yuck. WNBA name. And we already have Revolution. Would be a shame if the team name isn't Philadelphia Athletic.
I don't like Philadelphia Athletic.... And I don't like Philadelphia Independence. But for some reason, "Philadelphia Independence FC" - I likey. I also don't mind AC Philadelphia.
