Tomek Frankowski was interviewed live on 1030 AM today and is apparently flying in Feb. 4 to Chicago. The forward is 32 and he is currently playing in Spain.

It's Tomasz Frankowski, just in case anyone wanted to Wiki him.

HOLY CRAP! This is awesome! Tomasz Frankowski would be fricking AWESOME for us. I believe I stated somewhere on the Zurawski thread months ago that I would much rather take Frankowski over Zurawski. This guy has a knack for scoring goals, he has that instinct. Color me excited!!!

Well the trial will show whether he can still play or not. I don't have the faintest idea of how serious the injury was, but I know he wouldn't be ready to go for a trial if it was a devastating one with torn ligaments after only six months.

Give the guy a shot and see if he still has game. If he does, offer him a reasonable salary for an older player coming off an injury an add some incentives into the contract.

Who knows, he might turn out to be a steal.

Both Blanco and Frankowski on my team? I could die a happy man.

I recall your posts and agree.

If true and Frankowski is here for a tryout, and proves he still has good abilities, then I'd love to have him. I was hoping to get him last year before we signed Blanco, which clearly was a great move for our club.

Rolfe, Frankowski, Blanco would be deadly.

Frankowski would be a great teacher for guys like Rolfe, Barret and Carr, he is actually pretty similar to Rolfe in many respects. If the guy is flying to Chicago it's because he is either trialing with us or with Columbus, he wouldn't be here on vacation.

I've had a few hours to think about this, I don't think Frankowski would be coming here for a trial, my bet is that he is coming because:

    1) He has signed with us; or
    2) He will sign when he arrives

My guess is he may be the forward who Luis said was supposed to be announced last week. Frankowski has at least two suitors, he was almost a big signing for Lech two weeks ago, he wouldn't ditch Jagielonia or a Spanish 2nd division team for a "trial" with an MLS team, we either offered him good money and he is coming or, the more unlikely scenario, he is headed to Columbus.

As someone who has had reconstructive surgery on both knees, I can tell you unequivocally that six months is enough time to have fully recovered from at least a fully torn ACL. If he tore both an ACL and MCL, maybe not (and that's only a guess), but I recall my doctor telling me he had a player for the Blackhawks back on the ice in a competitive game five months post-op. That stuck in my memory.

Had a drought with the Wolves before he was let go. Injury? Maybe. MLS is a slower league than the Premier, and it might be the safe place for him to go.

Just becuase Wanchope was 3 steps slow, maybe this guy is only one step slow, and a good fit for our league.

My home team (Lech) was going to sign him but they decided not too...the guy is a bum now. Hasn't been playing regularly for couple of years...I don't know why you guys are so excited about him.

Fixed your post, and seeing that your team wanted to have this bum starting, that's interesting. Sucks having a BOD, doesn't it?

I don't think we're ALL excited about this. What you see is a mix of desperation and hopefulness.

Our attack last year was miserable and we hope a seasoned pro will boost it.

But the major reason that many of these folks are excited is because the player is Polish. Period.

To me, this has the feel of the Lubos Reiter, Bedrossian and Wanchope experiments. I'm very happy we have brought him on trial. But I hope they REALLY run him through his paces before signing him. He's old and he's damaged. We can't keep betting our seasons on players based on what they USED to be.

If a guy can't stick at Wolverhampton, maybe his career is done. - sorry. :(

LOL, too cheap? Lech has biggest budget in Poland. Simply, he wasn't worth it. You don't even know who agreed and who did not.

All I'm trying to say that he is not worth it. He hasn't scored a single goal at Wolverhampton. He hasn't shown anything in 3 years.

I know that you guys agreed to a contract but it was denied by the BOD, that's enough for me. 2 years ago he scored a goal against England in qualifying, just sayin'.
