Thanks for the heads up on this pre-season gig in San Antonio. Is this where the Dynamo will be having their training camp? Or just a way of pulling San Antonio support for the Orange?
As one of the promoters and co-founders of the event we are looking forward to having the Dynamo, as well as Toronto FC, DC United, and Chivas USA in San Antonio for this awesome event. This will be a week long pre season training camp with the 6 pre-season matches. This will be an annual event for Houston Dynamo, and three other teams...and we hope Chivas USA is a regular as well This will be a great event for the fans of all of these clubs. As far as the other events...we will have open to the public practice sessions, coaching clinics, and a celebrity charity match, which we are putting on with the help of Ethan Zohn of Grassroot Soccer / Survivor:Africa. When we get concrete confirmations of the players who will participate we will surely let you know! Tickets will be on sale for the matchs on Friday!
Link for those who are interested in attending. Has all info (including maps). I suspect that this is just part of the training camp. They'll probably still practice at the University of Houston. This is mainly a last minute check on the team before we (and DC) begin CONCACAF Champions Cup play, which begins the following week. However, scheduling games at UH is tricky enough, so this is a way of expanding the brand into Texas, and earning more money for the clubs as well. Personally, I'd love to see some Chivas USA fans make it out, along with TFC and DC fans, but I'm not counting on it either since it is a friendly and a week long event. I'll be attending all the games so I'll take notes (assuming no TV) and let everyone know how things went.
