what are your views on them? do they really help? was just thinking of starting a topic about them. ouh and, was wondering, are there any rules stating that u cant wear long skins(hip-ankle) in matches?im confused cause during this interstate tournament in australia, all the state federeation teams(victoria, nsw,wa etc) got a set of free nikepro stuff, some of us were thinking of wearing them to the next game but a few others said u cudnt, but i remembered a few games where chimbonda wore them. cheers anw,
Re: Skins/Compression Garments I wear Skins leggins mainly in the winter to keep my legs warm. I think they are great. They really do stop your legs from feeling heavy. But you MUST get the correct size to make sure the compression stuff works properly especially with skins. As for wearing them ... it depends what the league rules you are playing in state. I know in my league you can only wear stuff under your kit if it matches the colour like white shorts, white skins. So the best thing to do is to check with your league to see what they say. appleCORR
Re: Skins/Compression Garments As for working, my keeper has had a set for 2-3 years now and swears by them. He'd previously had ALOT of hamstring/goin problems (he runs marathons which doesn't help) and reckons these have completely eliminated these problems. I know alot of guys at American Football who wear the UA coldgear actions leggins for warmth, we train upto 6 hours in the most exposed field in the world all thru the winter and staying warm can be an issue. Haven't got a pair myself yet but the others seem to be impressed at the warmth they give. Haven't even heard anecdotal evidence about teh UA's and injury provention however. Back to the legality and like I say my sunday league keeper wears them under our black shorts/maroon socks, but then it's sunday league and our team lost 6 of the original nike shirts so now have half red/black striped Nike and half different red/black (with solid red back panel!) puma shirts.....
Re: Skins/Compression Garments Its the same with me and my skins. I used to get really bad groin problems from doing football freestyle but since wearing my skins even in really cold weather my groin doesn't hurt half as much. So they really do help. appleCORR
Re: Skins/Compression Garments yerr,i agree with the groin problems thing when wearing skins, it does slightly feel as though ur problems are lessened. ouh, yerr, the leagues here follow the fifa rules on the(white-on-white,blue-on-blue)rule.i just wasnt sure when some of my teamates said that the garments couldnt go past ur knee in a game ?????lol
Re: Skins/Compression Garments well yea I know when I last checked this in the FA rule book (mebe theres one online?!?!) the rule was that no under garment could extend below the knees, but given the lax enforcement of such equipment rules (who ever saw anyone get booked for having untucked shirts or rolled-down sock when that rule came in) id say buy em and just check with the ref b4 the game eachtime, or don't and just see if they bother telling u that u gotta change- when it comes down to it they'll prolly let it slide out of ease unless the oppo make a complaint....
Re: Skins/Compression Garments Plus, if you wear quite baggy shorts and have you socks pulled right up then you hardly see them. Do you want to get some because of an injury or just to keep your legs warm? because if its just for extra support they do make skins compression shorts which are just like cycling shorts. They are just as good. appleCORR
Re: Skins/Compression Garments its summer now,but its cause mainly theyre comfortable and this might seem funny, superstition, just that i feel more confident in them, lol,i know it sounds ridiculous, but feeling gd on the mental side does help performing.lol nahh, ive already got the whole set free from nike, as the whole tournament was sponsored by nike and the FFA(footy fed aus) so they gave us samples.to entice us even further and buy new ones probz.lol so if ive got them,i was thinking about the long ones, why not wear them, but this situation arose. if i cant, ill probz just use em during training
Re: Skins/Compression Garments Forget whether you're allowed to wear skins or not. Looking at prices on PDS, what I want to know who the hell can afford them? 40 BP for an undershirt? WTF?!
Re: Skins/Compression Garments The thing with compression stuff is that it MUST be the right size for it to work for you. So its great that you got them for free but the leggings might not work if they are night tight enough etc. You are meant to get measured for stuff like that. appleCORR
Re: Skins/Compression Garments ...oh let me guess apps ur willing to lend a hand measuring guys up for lycra! and they let u nurse..... Yea think u can pay £60 for the UA coldgear metal in this country, but unless u need em urgent it's worth shipping that from the states.... as apps says sizing is important, but most compression gear is super stretchy so ud be best eering on caution and buying a smaller size shud their be any doubt...plsu nothing makes u look more puny than baggy spandex!
Re: Skins/Compression Garments the sizes are good when we got them from nike cause we tested for sizes on the spot.and i have been using the undershirt and the compression shorts but ive been having some considerations on wearing the long ones to games as i might have to take it off if i get on the field.which is a real hassle as u might know.
Re: Skins/Compression Garments We had a midweek game a few years back and we had one of those situs where u change in the same room as the ref, anyways we had this kid who was like 5ft5 and always wore cycling shorts, he'd come dressed in his kit and thus had nothing else with him, anyways the ref said his black cycling shorts were illegal as he could see them below the green shorts. We argued as, well, these were the guys pants, asking if he could at least roll the thighs up, but the ref insisted that "if I see them in the game, he gets booked", meaning dude played commando and we pretty much banned him from sliding in case we saw too much of his "tackle"... Just an example to support your reservations! Could try them and bring some scissors to cut em short, man if u got em free easy come easy go!!!
Re: Skins/Compression Garments It depends which sort you get. The Nike/Adidas ones tend to be around that price depending on style and design etc. But if you want an actual Skins one then you will pay A LOT MORE for their stuff. Its the same with under armour. appleCORR
Re: Skins/Compression Garments How do you think sizing should go with one of those Under Armor shirts? Not the loose fit ones, something that's tight. And does anyone have any suggestions of what the best ones are for any brand. I need one shirt for when it's hot out and one for when it's chilly, both should be long sleeve, and i'd prefer the one for cold weather to be a turtle neck.
Re: Skins/Compression Garments I quite liked my NikePro ones, but admittedly I haven't tried any others so I have no basis for comparison.
Re: Skins/Compression Garments Im all about the UA range, nike pro just doesn't have the length required for anyone over 5ft6 or with traps... Sizing wise it's hard to say exactly, but pretty much whatever fits u in a snug tee should be fine- they're stretchy as hell- my XL UA's are nice and tight but I can also fit into the Ms I have....
Re: Skins/Compression Garments For cold weather I love the UA subzero mock turtleneck. Highly recommended. It keeps me really warm and if I start to get too warm I just tug on the collar and let some of the heat escape.
Re: Skins/Compression Garments can anybody please tell me were to get ankle brace but the sock type not the ones with the heel cut-out?
Re: Skins/Compression Garments if i dont tuck in my nike pro then it will just pull up and get really annoying.
Re: Skins/Compression Garments if you're in the US, this is your best bet. http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageMANIKE-NASL.html it's still got the heel cut out, but it's spandex as opposed to lace up. i'm pretty sure all ankle braces are gonna have the heel cut out, as it's just a standard way to make them.
Re: Skins/Compression Garments Then my friend either you have no traps OR I have more of a gut situation than I wanna admit to myself No but seriously u gotta do the "picard manoeuver" every 3 seconds with them bad boys yea Case is a trek geek, should that surprise anyone!!!
