    Hello.

    It’s contest time again!

This year’s Prize will be a new with tags 1999 Los Angeles Galaxy Home s/s Official Replica Jersey in size XL signed by Cobi Jones. The signature was obtained by me when the Galaxy came to play the Thunder during the 2002 USOC.

The rules will be mostly the same as last year’s with a minor tweak or two.

Each Contestant will be allowed to pick six combine invitees whom they think will be on the Minnesota Thunder's opening day roster. The Contestant who picks the most Thunder signees will win the jersey.

    The following are the tiebreakers:

If two or more contestants correctly pick the same amount of signees, the signee who first plays in a regular season game will determine the winner.

If two or more contestants pick two different signees who both begin play at the same game at the same time, the contest continues until one of the signees falls behind the other in playing time.

If two or more contestants pick the same signee or signees, a drawing will determine the winner.

If no one picks a Thunder combine signee who is on the opening day roster, the contest will continue until whichever picked invitee is signed first by the Thunder some time during the season.

If a picked invitee is not signed by the Thunder by the last regular season home game of the season, the next tiebreaker will be combine participants who sign with another USL Division One team or MLS team by the last Thunder home game of the regular season.

If two or more contestants pick an equal amount of Division One and MLS signees, the signee who plays in the regular season (this includes MLS developmental games) first will determine the winner.

Any ties at this point will be decided by a drawing held at the last Thunder regular season home game.

If no one picks a combine participant who is signed by the Thunder, another USL Division One team or MLS team, no jersey will be awarded.

There is no cost to enter the contest. It is open to anyone who is not an employee or volunteer working for the Minnesota Thunder or any combine invitees. Entries must be posted at this thread or it's companion at BigSoccer.com before 1PM Eastern, 12PM Central, 11AM Mountain, 10AM Pacific time on Tuesday, February 12th. One entry per person. Arrangements can be made for a winner to pick up the jersey locally. If the winner cannot pick up the jersey locally (Minneapolis/St. Paul or Milwaukee area), there will be a five dollar domestic shipping charge to the winner(foreign shipping charge to be determined), payable upon receipt of the jersey.

The decision of the current owner of the jersey (me :D ) as to who is awarded the jersey is final. Any questions as to the rules should be posted here or at the sister thread at usldiscussions.com.com.

This contest is not affiliated in any way with the Minnesota Thunder.

Info on the player pool will be posted here:

Pretty much the same rules as last year, when a jersey was awarded to local scribe Paul Demko.

Waiting for those entries to come rollin’ in, I remain

Well, come on in, then. Happy to have you.

    Hello, Dave.

In truth, the final list is not out and will probably not be out until the start of the combine on the 10th. That's why the deadline isn't until the 12th. There are always last minute cancellations and additions. I will update you here and at USLDiscussions.com on the "Fire Up the Case IH..." threads with those subtractions and additions as they occur.

But, in the meantime, have a look at the info and click some links. Do a little studying and increase your chances. If you should have any additional info on any of the invitees, please feel free to add it to the "...It's Combine Time!" thread.

Thinking you might look pretty good in a Galaxy jersey, I remain

    Hello.

I'm posting another update on the combine thread. It might be the last before the contest deadline. So, submit yoiur picks and possibly win that Cobi autographed Galaxy jersey.

OK! Put me down for B. Cvilikas, R. Diaz, J. Hughes, C. Ericson, J. Cummings and D. Bustos. Thanks and good luck to all, but especially,

Someone who probalby would NOT look good in a Cobi-sized jersey but is happy to try,

    Hello.

A service I supply to entrants is to allow them to replace no shows with players who actually participate in the combine. Since Bustos didn't attend, you can pick a replacement.
Try to have it posted here by 10PM on the 13th of Feb.

A list of drop outs was included in my last post on the Combine thread.

From someone who would need the "Jaws of Life" to take off a Cobi-sized jersey,

Sorry, I haven't looked at this in a while. If it's not too late, how about I add Meissner into the mix in place of Bustos? No big deal if I missed the boat. I promise I have not been getting secret combine reports -- heck, I don't even know if Meissner is there!

    Hello.

Sorry about the delay. Things have been a bit hectic between my trip and Joan's.

Here are the final entries, with only the names of invitees who actually attended included (except for matthew's; I'll explain later), as determined by the semi-esteemed, quasi-official judge, me.

    Dave Marino-Nachison:

    Brian Civilikas - F
    Rubin Diaz - D
    Jeff Hughes - MF
    Cody Ericson - D
    Jack Cummings - D
    Kevin Meissner - D

Well, okay. But just this once. Good thing for you that I'm a softie about these things.

    TurkishZath

    Jesse Baker - MF
    Alessandro Beconi - GK
    Marcus McCarty - F
    Dustyn Brim - GK
    Jeff Hughes - MF
    Jack Cummings - D

Zath comes in with a strong entry. Let's see if this is the year he snags the jersey.

    matthew

    Ramsay Ansari - F
    Alexander Arcos - D
    Vlado Blagoyevich - MF
    Daniel Bustos - F
    Romain Cheurlin - MF

Ya gotta admire a man who has faith in his strategy. Not only does he ignore the chance to update his picks, but he only chooses five players FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW! P.S. I think the reason he stuck with Ramsay Ansari is this:

    Has an interesting hobby

Tiny Pic and a bit about his business
    http://news.mnhookahs.com/about/

Anyone this involved with hookahs must be okay by matthew.

    ajwatt

    Thomas Erickson - GK
    Humberto Lopez - MF
    Colin Mustful - MF
    Omar Palomeras - MF,F

"A Crap"! Geez, kinda sour grapes for a guy still in it. If I remember correctly, none of the jerseys have gone to the guy with the most picks who made the combine cut. Have a little faith, fellah!

    Leprechaun

    Jesse Baker - MF
    Martin Castro - MF,F
    B.J. Goodman - D
    Cody Ericson - D
    Paul Moran - D
    Colin Mustful - MF

A pretty strong pic by former winner Lepre, although knowing that we have only one keeper, Warren retiring, ida thought he'd have slipped one in there, somewhere.

    JJE

    Jesse Baker - MF
    Omar Palomares - MF,F
    Marcus McCarty - F
    Alessandro Beconi - GK
    Paul Moran - D
    Simon Delaveau - MF

Sorry about missing your first pick. I must say you've done suspiciously well for a guy who just copied off other peoples' lists and mixed in a few "random selections". Next time I might have to make everyone show their work on a seperate post.

Well, them's the entries, all official-like. All complaints can be forwarded to the Department of Redundancy Department of the Natural Guard, Sector D, c/o Lt. George Leroy Tirebiter. [Poster's note: Offer not good after curfew in Sectors R or M.]

"Buena Suerte (which, I believe is Spanish for Good Sweating) to all participants!" says

P.S. The official word is that there is a "very good" chance that at least one combine participant will be signed.

    Hello.

Opening day roster, unless there is a tie. Than it could be later.

"Pretty curious for a guy who hasn't entered," muses ;)

Just interested in seeing how it went. I saw Marcus Macarty play for the Fire Premier PDL team and a couple of games for NIU. How did he look in the combine and is he still with the team.
