As I mentioned on another thread. I think it would be cool if both groups join together and sung a team anthem at the begining of the game. During the walkout or start of the whistle. I have no real suggesitions, so lets get some put down so we can compile them and take a vote on what we think. Maybe post a insert on our websites home page, and/or send out an e-mail for canadite songs. Let me know what you think....

If we do this right, we can get the FO to possibly do the song in the Stadium before the game. With the lyrics on the screen. That way if people want they can join, and if we don't know we can refer to the screen...
I personally am really against stealing another team's traditional anthem. We can do better than that.

I like the way you reworked the lyrics, but I already associate this song with the Rockies since they play it at the end of every game at Coors Field.
I really like the idea of an anthem. I also agree with Chili that it should be something original. I know there are lots of songs out there "about" Colorado - maybe we could take one and change some lyrics (or even keep the lyrics - they don't necessarily have to be soccer related). I think for everyone to be on the same page, we'd have to coordinate with the FO to put the lyrics on the big screen, and also to play the song in the background, like you hear on the Youtube videos. Maybe this song could take the place of some of that stupid pop-techno-whatever the hell that they play before matches.

I think trying to sing an entire song could be tough. I said on another forum I like the idea of Rocky Mountain High, but only a select verse or two. Or maybe the entire thing at the start with the music coming over the loudspeakers and then during the game the fans can sing "Rocky Mountain High, Colorado....." It could be a call/repeat type thing where one section sings "Rocky Mountain High..." and another repeats "Colorado..." I think that could become very cool if it catches on.
Sure it will be tough with only two groups of people knowing it, but once it catches on with the rest of the stadium, then everyone will join in (hopefully). I think we could do the whole song before the game, with the music and words bieng played on the screen. Sure we may sound out of place with the rest of the stadium. But it will catch on and hopefully become a tradition.
I agree...an entire song is probably too much. The best you're likely to hope for is the repetition of a single verse or a chorus.
Hate to rain on the parade, but whoever wants this should approach the FO soon. I mention this just for copyright problems. And They may have access to songs that they already have contracts for. Or They may know artists that can help pen an original for you. Another thing they could do is help with a contest for someone to write a song to a tune that is in the public domain. They can offer a jersey, tickets for four and honorary Captain for a Game...etc. I concure with some on here. This song does not need to reference Colorado or the Rapids. It could be totally independent and embody the hopes of the fans for the team.
And while askum's raining on the parade, I'll just say that every time I've mentioned something about a team song to the FO they bring up the "Game First" initiative, even though we're not talking about them piping the song through the PA during the run of play.
They said they are now currently looking into it. There is a strong possibility that it may happen. Obviously before the game, and before we did the walk out, unless they get rid of trhe MLS anthem...

Nice, I like and heres my suggestion: U2's One. It would represent our love for our ONE love to an MLS team. But I would defintaly take any U2 song...

Hmmmm, so are you suggesting we start the song at 3:06? Personally, I think 'One' is a bit sedate for a soccer anthem (love the song tho). I kinda feel the same about 'Rocky Mountain High'; that's why I suggested 'Rocky Mountain Way', more of a rockin' song to get the blood going (maybe you could just stop going to Rockies games Chili? ). this is just one person's opinion - but I have a lot of difficulty imagining people at a rapids game singing anything more than 30 seconds long. EVEN 30 seconds seems like a stretch to me.
