At www.ussoccer.com they have a picture of the new training kits the USMNT are wearing. They look pretty sharp and fairly similar to England's Nationwide sponsored Umbro gear. Does anyone know roughly what time of the year the U.S. will come out with their new jerseys?
Does the US drastically change their kits more than anyone else or do I not pay attention as much to other team's kits? Not only do they change styles, they change colors. What's up with that?
Thanks for posting that, i didn't care to look them up. Those are awful. Too bad it doesn't have the www on them as well.
colors are the same, that's the away jersey on Dempsey. ...and we're no worse than any other country. Just look at Germany. Since 02 they've had away jerseys in Green, Gray, Black, and Red.
Yeah too bad it's not a European website, cuz then it'd be really cool. Anyways, forget the shirts, I want some of the extra long training shorts.
Fair enough but that red looks a little different then the current red trim. Hopefully the white jerseys stay the same.
check the ussoccer front page they have a new video up of the new training jerseys...on the video you can see a red training jersey that looks a lot better than the blue one already posted IMOP
I agree. I like the red one more. I am searching for a picture of the new kits online and can't find them anywhere. Not the training jerseys but the new 2008 kits.
It's not the same, germany wears a white shirt with black shorts at home. The Dutch, Orange top with either black or white shorts. Mexico, Green top, white shorts and red socks. The United States just needs to stick with color scheme and stick with it. The current one is as good as any. This guy sums it up well. http://www.slate.com/id/2168476/
Unfortunatley, they probably are changing out this kit. The uniforms change every 2 years. I agree this is a sharp uniform.
Someone mentioned that the new US kits will be unveiled for the Mexican friendly in February. I hope so, I really want to see that dark colored kit Dempsey is wearing in the pic someone posted on this thread. I like the white kits we have now, but would like to see a new subtle modification of them. I am all for developing a team look or identity with the kits that we wear. I am one for color consistency. Can someone please provide a link to the pic of the Dempsey jersey posted earlier on this thread. Thank you.
no offense, but that guy is an idiot, and I'm sick of that article being posted. With one exception in 94 for the WC we've had the white shirt blue shorts combo for as long as any other country has had their kits. The kits displayed in that article were all either away shirts or third jerseys. The striped kit wasn't even the kit of the real national team.
You're talking about this one? Team America!!! featuring a roster of mostly naturalized Englishman. I agree with you. The U.S. has a recognizable color scheme: White shirts with blue shorts. A quick history of the U.S. kits since Italia 1990. (scroll up to post #124 to see it)
First of all, that arcticle has been discussed, and discredited, ad nauseum, since it came out. As has been mentioned, most of the kits he has problems with are not the first kit. The US has tinkered with their alternate kit, but has kept a white top with navy shorts. There are occasions when they have worn the white, or "alternate" shorts with the white tops (and times when they have worn navy tops with navy shorts), but these aren't changes in the kit itself, these are usually situations when FIFA mandates that a certain team wear their light or dark shorts/socks/ etc so as to provide contrast with their opponent. Yes, many national teams, as you mentioned, have a "traditional" look. In fact, the past two World Cup champions fall into that category. Italy traditionally wear royal blue tops, white shorts, and royal blue socks. But, against France in the World Cup Final, they wore their blue shorts instead of white, and France wore an all-white strip: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/archive/edition=9741/photo/photolist.html#523576 Similarly, Brazil, who traditionally wear gold tops, blue shorts, and white socks, took the field in a gold-blue-blue strip for the 2002 World Cup Final vs. Germany: http://http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/archive/edition=4395/photo/photolist.html Obviously, both of these teams would have worn their traditional look if given the choice, just as the US would (and, as Nike would want them to, since the navy shorts are designed to go with the white shirt, etc), there are some games where FIFA has the final say.
