Just saw the following on a Philly board. It's NOT what we want to hear, but face it, MLS just does not want/will not allow Jeff Cooper going it alone. Franchise stability and deep pockets are now the new standards. Has anyone heard ANYthing lately about potential investors/co-owners for the St. Louis bid? Without him/her/them, our bid is dead. Period. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story?id=501538&root=mls&cc=5901
Honestly, at this point, with so many possibilities, I don't know who/whom to believe ... the waiting is driving me nuts, guess I need a life, huh?
There really isn't anything new here. We now that philly is what MLS wants, but there are 2 slots for expansion. If Philly doesn't get the goverment signoff then I think we are in, if they do then I think we are in also. It's not us vs them as much as Garber would want us to believe.
As Ed McMahon used to say to Johnny Carson, "You are CORRECT, Sir!" Meanwhile, back to the investor/partner issue, is there any awareness (I'll even take rumors) of St. Louis people/powers that be who are being courted/talked with? Anybody on a national level? How about Warren Buffett?, I hear he has some money ...
