What good is a 49ers stadium amidst the office park part of Santa Clara when compared to the active Pavilion near downtown restaurants and bars? The A's in the swampy area of Fremont (not even the South Bay) are even less of a factor. What kind of a powerhouse will the South Bay be when it's crowning jewel will be the San Francisco 49ers? It's just pandering.

I don't know if saying the A's are going to be in a swampy area of Fremont. They're actually building Fremont a sort of downtown the city currently lacks. If anything their plan should work great and they'll be the center of Fremont at least commercially and socially.

But I agree on the Niners. While their site has great public access... it's across the street from where I work and I can tell you there's not much here.

With all these proposed stadiums I just hope we can get shovels in the ground first. These projects will tie up a lot of workers and resources.

The crown jewel will be The [Corporate name] Epicenter at San José, immediately surrounded by the San Jose Earthquakes' training facilities and soccer fields, itself surrounded by Wolff Retail Park.

I like your soccer colored glasses, but I think the true crown jewel of the 3 projects will be the A's development. It's by far the largest, most extensive, and most life altering for the city it's going into. It is approximately 3x the size of the San Jose developments, and will provide Fremont with something the city has never had until now, a modern downtown. While bringing many of the same benefits to Fremont the Quakes development will bring to SJ, just magnified by several times.

But there is no doubt both of Wolff's projects stand to benefit the cities they're going into in job, capital income, tax income, and additional housing in areas lacking such housing while providing stadiums that will get alot of team and city use.

The Niners I'm not so sure about. A stadium that stands empty 95% of the year surrounded by office parks and taking 160 million from the city's coffers doesn't seem like a good thing to me. Especially when the team in that stadium won't even acknowledge Santa Clara by name. At least Fremont and SJ get to be in the team names in some way or another.

What if the Quakes, Niners and Raiders all shared a stadium at Airport West? Talk about a crown jewel...

Raiders would never go for it. They've been offered shared space with the Niners before and turned it down. They're reportedly exploring possibly building a new stadium in Dublin actually. And if that falls through you can bet they'll find another city here or elsewhere to build in. Oakland will be home to only the Warriors inside 10 years and it's their own fault sadly. They never should have invited Al Davis back.

Baseball can't be played properly in a rectangular stadium.

Makes you wonder, is it really the same Al Davis? Or just some puppet the majority owners keep around to scare the piss out of the rest of the NFL owners and keep them in line. That and of course to keep Al's credit line at the local courthouses going for the bevy of lawsuits "he's" always filing.

    Teams Unite?

Hell no, Uncle Al knows what happens when you mix Raiders and Niners anything! Not doing business with the Yorks, either.

The city of Oakland brought the Wrath of Al on themselves by lying about selling out the PSL's and luxury boxes of the Coliseum as a way of getting the Raiders to move back up there from L.A. Big fat lie, big fat lawsuit (what the hell do they expect - it's Al), Davis wins the case. Silly politicians ought not go up against this guy.

Now where is that new stadium?

And to be most correct, it would have to be:

    Fisher-Wolff-Storm-Hunter Retail Park;)

i wondered that myself until about 3-4 years ago i was flying out of oakland to utah for my grandfathers funeral. al davis was getting of a southwest airlines flight. he was real and not a puppet. i couldn't help but laugh though. the guy looked like he was just getting back from a long night in vegas. he looked like sin. the man looked like he was nursing the worst hang over. he looked so dazed and confused, i don't think he really knew where he was. he had a big bandage over his nose like he had been in a bar fight the night before. it really felt good booing him as he walked by.

Any A's fan that hates Al Davis is a friend of mine. They'll never be forgiven for coming back from LA. Good on you man. I wish I could have been there to boo too.
