What types of salaries do top level EPL loan players fetch? I noticed that a certain FC Dallas coach's former team is considering loaning out a struggling star. Arsenal's Arsene Wenger is considering loaning out Theo Walcott. Would our DP money be enough for his loan? Can a DP be used on a loan? Here's his info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_Walcott and here's the story: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article704048.ece
Not to be "that guy" but it didn't say anything about Walcott being loaned. Seems like Colorado's "partnership" with Arsenal is all fluff to me. Dallas has at least brought in a player from its partners and I don't remember Arsenal even coming to play a friendly with colorado.
sweet...2 responses and no answer to the question. regardless of whether walcott would be loaned at all or if he'd be loaned to FCD vs colorado, i am not sure how salaries for loaned players work, 7th row. it would be interesting to know if FCD/MLS could compete for loaned EPL players who were destined for say, CCC or lower. hopefully some smart person has this info.
Players destined for lower than the Championship aren't worth our time. Loaned players in general are kind of crappy deals as you don't really build your team you just get a player for 6-12 months then it's done. Loan with options to buy are much better.
some short term loans are not bad at all. ask ManU what they thought about Henrik Larsson. He came in for a very short stint last season and meant the world to them. He's hinting at another loan there. I think that a player of Theo Walcott's caliber would make a huge impact in Dallas no matter how long his service lasted.
it was two goals in 7 games and his impact was huge in other ways. he led a team that was floundering. ManU fans loved him and Ferguson tried multiple times to extend his loan. FWIW the Gooners will only likely loan him to another EPL team (think Fulham fighting against relegation) that would play him regularly. They want him to grow and adapt to the league and let him grow in the league. I could see them sending him on loan to a teal like Valencia perhaps that is screwed and would play him as well, but for the Gooners, sending a player like Theo over here would not help him long term in his career. I like the Figo rumor that has been around forever, that makes sense. Even a player like Manu's Saha on a short loan for their offseason while he is getting back into fitness after his long string of injuries makes sense in some ways when it comes to a loan of some sort would make sense, seeing how he needs time on the pitch in real games to get fit and has been out forever. Theo doesnt make any sense to Ars, and i really dont think most EPL teams would think for a second of sending guys here.
PS: any1 who says that Larsson didnt make a world of difference for Manu down the stretch last season simply as a short term hired gun, wasnt watching matches. after they sold Ruud and Saha went down they had nobody and Henrik was a perfect loan.
I stand by what I said, though I did say in general, there are always exceptions to the rule, but I don't think FCD should be looking to have more than one or two loan players in any season unless they have options to buy.
