So how is MLS rewarding Stefan Jerome after an historic azz whoop to the arrogant Brasilian super power U 17 team....?
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS http://www.ussoccer.com/common/stContent.jsp_82-Fall2007ResRoster.html From USSF: Jerome, Stefan F 6-0 155 08/11/92 Davie, Fla. West Pines United FC Jerome is a great prospect, who I hope someday plays in MLS. However, because he is already in U-17 residency and not a member of any MLS youth programs, untill he goes pro and gets drafted, MLS won't be doing anything for him. (Sorry for the run-on sentence.)
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Other than maybe offering a GenAd contract, which might not be a bad idea considering how well Brek Shea at a similar age and of a similar build performed at the combine and how highly he was drafted.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS MLS need to realize that having a teenage soccer sensation and used this as a promotional item could increase the sale of tickets. The boy fit the profile of a potential soccer superstar, it is a sorry fact that MLS is not capitalizing on this....duhh
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Yes the phrase duhhh does remind me of you. And BTW it's Jerome with a J.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS MLS has done the whole teenage sensation before. It helped a bit with ticket sales, but nobody could claim that it was an amazing sucess.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Come on...If you are not willing to get behind your statements please do not yap behind the fence ........Now let me do my thing....So far MLS judgement about potential teenage superstars have prove to be flaw and as a solid example we could go back and review Landon Donovan history....
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Could we get few numbers over here....Freddy Adu increase the sale of tickets (grosso modo) was about 35 percent at the beginning of his first season.... I bet you there have to be few people with better info about this ???
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS It is me or something smell bad over here.....John Exantus got a deal from MLS without showing noting but promises....But in the other hand Stefan Jerome have a resume with an historical AZZ WHOOP over the Brazilians and there is not even a comment ... Who is failing over here ? Stefan Jerome lack of a viable agent ? MLS lack of vision? or what is going on ? ....Perhaps I am putting unjustified blame on MLS
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS As an amatuer minor, the onus is on Jerome to go and try and get a MLS deal. But I doubt he wants one.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS I don't know where to go with this statement, because obviously you are out of the loop. First of all, Exantus is not signed by anyone. He is on the RBNY youth teams, but youth team players are not signed; they only are "exclusive rights" for their respective teams. And this thing about Jerome? You do understand Jerome is at Bradenton. He is in a very good soccer situation, and he is very young as well. When he graduates he will think about the pros. Then MLS as an entity can approach him about signing with the league for the draft. Nobody leaves Bradenton. Jerome is still 15. He can not be signed by a team, like Exantus, because he did not go through a teams youth club. Jerome does not have an agent yet, because then he would no longer be academically eligible. And by the way a U-17 victory in a friendly is not close to historical, and there was no whooping going on. It was a good win. Thats all. There is a lot more I could say, because your way, way off base; but I restrained myself.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Thanks for the information....As you can see all over the thread they all end with the QUESTIONS MARK ????.....Nobody is making any statements over here we are digging information about the subject and we sincerely appreciate your imput.... Still, when Freddy Adu was sign as a player he did not have the characteristics that involve Stefan case. A categorically defeat over Brazil friendly or not is not something to be underestimate and I am not sure over this one but Freddy did not have nothing like this in his resume at this age...
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Look, Jerome had a good game against Brazil. But it was a team effort, its not like he singlehandedly defeated Brazil. And Freddy and the US U-20 team beat the Brazillian U-20's, but I guess that doesn't count on Freddy's resume. But I'll say this: whip, I appreciate your enthusiasm.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS No... it does not count he is 18 .....Obviously Stefan Jerome does not defeat the Brazilian by himself...But neither Maradona defeat the English in Mexico by himself.........I am just perplex by the attitude of ....The soccer media....? Naive fans ?....or perhaps created financial interest over few players that hype players with modest accomplishments and make them look out of this world while players with real potential are left out on the rain....
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Why does your English never get any better? Also you clearly never saw Landon, Demarcus, or Freddy as a U-17, they also did amazing things at that age. Landon won an award for being the best U-17 player at the world championships. Demarcus came in second. Jerome may be all that or he may not, but one game as a 15 year old does not make your career. Jerome and the rest of the U-17's will be considered for next year's generation adidas contracts but will still spend most of that year in high school and playing for the U-17's. Given the sorry state of MLS's reserve squads it's not a big loss to let them stay there until they are ready to compete for the MLS full squads.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Stefan Jerome was 15 vs 16 year olds at that 1 U-17 game vs Brazil; freddy Adu at 13 and 14 was taking the ball from midfield several times and dribbling by 6 players and scoring vs 17 year olds at the 2003 U-17 world cup. Freddy Adu as a youth is a light years ahead of Jerome; but Freddy is a CAM and Jerome is a henry-type striker so for Jerome as a striker he is going to nasty and most likey going to be equal to altidore at 18 or even better but not better than Adu' total talent and skill package.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS On that game that you are mentioning did we win or lose ? ....About the light year, I have seen both kids playing ....On Jerome play it was a relentless attack on the right field kind of Sal Zizzo ... Adu was playing at the under 18.. just few good flashes....
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS I just watch 10 minutes of the game between Korea/USA 2003 u 17 world cup (is on google video) Even though Adu score I still can't see the light year between him and Jerome....By the way this was a game against "Korea"
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Hmm? To my knowledge, Jonny X has not yet signed any pro contract. He's still with RBNY amateur youth teams.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS You are right....Perhaps I am a dreamer and In my dreams MLS prospectors give a look at every player with potential trying to find a business opportunity but this is reality... there is not such thing as MLS PROSPECTORS
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS hey whip you got a link; that i can watch that 10 minute video of Adu; i cant seem to find it.
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS The whole game is on a google search engine it is on spanish hold on I will get it for you.....
Re: So...What about Stefan Gerome and MLS Here is the link ..they have the whole game ...I hope I got it right.... .http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8216802894535795593
Stefan was a 155 pound 12 year old when he first surfaced at the national youth level. Meaning, either he will be a 280 pound adult, or he grew up really really early and is a man playing against children. I say it's the latter, meaning that while he is obviously a very good player and at the very least top D1 material, I'll wait a few years until everybody else gets fully grown too before I think too seriously about his soccer career.
