Awhile back I took the 2007 numbers and tried to guess at the 2008 numbers. I was told I was close by the RFO. If you remove Sanneh and Cancela the Rapids are sitting at approximately $1.7 m out of a $2.18 m cap.

I know people have read the cap is $2.3 m in 2008, however I've been told by the Rapids that it is closer to $2.18 and the $2.3 number comes when you add in the allocation money all teams are getting. The allocation money can be used to "buy down" the cap, in effect making it higher. So, the Rapids have around $400,000 to play with under the cap.

If the team could somehow convince someone to trade for Jovan, we could unlock $200,000. Pablo is probably worth $280,000.

This does not include the draft picks.

Does removing Osorno and Thorton have any noticeable effect?

Wow, thanks Bonji for the quick reply and wonderful work.

Who is eating our budget away? I heard Bouna is around 25-30k Herc is under 50k. They are some of our better payers. No wonder we ant go after much.

    They were already removed.

No problem, I saved it all in a spreadsheet last time we were looking at it.

IMO, Jovan is the biggest waste of space at $200,000. Conor Casey is in at $180,000. Cookie at $152,000. Petke at $126,000.

Bouna is at $33,000 if he doesn't get a new deal, which he should. Gomez is at $49,350.

Did we ever get confirmation on how much of Casey's salary we're responsible for this year?

Great health care, work approx. 4 hours a day (Which gives you time to take another job coaching or running camps), stipends when they travel, and a shot at moving up and making bigger money?

If we dealt Casey I wouldnt lose any sleep, However, I dot think to many teams want a sup-par injured player.

If you are looking at Casey as a big scorer, that he is not. If you are looking at someone who is strong receiving the ball, and good at distributing to his teammates if they choose to run to space, that he is. Once he got into reasonable playing shape last season, he made good contributions. The trouble is, as it is with so many of our players, when we get vets in, they are almost always tainted by injury problems. If Conor could play without injury, I think he would be an asset. If we are counting on him being our main scorer, then we will probably be disappointed.

I can agree, Conor is a solid player in terms of moving around and passing off to his teamates. He would have drawn several PK's if the Refs. would have called them last year. But overall Conor is a solid striker....

Would that matter much if at all? I thought both generation addidas and dev players did not count toward the cap.

I thought I had heard in 2008 it was 100% on our shoulders.
