They're going to get relegated and Dempsey will move on. I'm not too sure about Bocanegra and Eddie Johnson though. Johnson in the Championship will probably be good for him as long as he stays healthy. The fact that our top 3 center backs would be employed in the Championship (Bocanegra, Demerit) and in the Belgium (Onyewu) does not bode well for our defense. That would leave us with only Steve Cherundolo playing at a top-flight level in our defense.
Fulhamerica. I think Wigan and Birmingham are going down, Fulham and Sunderland are gonna fight it out till the season is done. Next season is a different story.
This was the tip-off that we were going to struggle at the last WC. People only focused on the numbers of players playing in Europe, but the reality is, almost all of them were filling marginal roles at big clubs or bigger roles at lower clubs/leagues - and we were matching up against key players from top clubs. It's going to be that way for a while to come, unfortunately.
Reference the old EPL thread for my dissertation on how Wigan won't be going down. Fulham, Sunderland, and Derby will be going down although there's about 4 other teams in addition to those who are in range of going down.
I thought you meant Fulham and Sunderland are going to fight it out between the two of them for who will be the third team...my bad...
I'm laughing at this move. EJ's skill level will finally be exposed. Say hello to Mr Pine once the see what you bring. Also, does he think BB will try to call 3 players from one team into a Nat camp? Doubtful. I would think Dempsey, Boca then EJ in order of value to the Nats would be BB's choice. Moving there may actually hurt his Nat career.
I bet he scores double-digits in goals next year. EJ's got a lot of holes in his game, but he also has a couple of assets that are going to net him some goals no matter where he plays. Heck, he might be better over there then in MLS, just because of the style of play.
