It appears the Revs are over $500,000 under the cap with four spots to fill after the supplemental draft today. Feel free to check my math and challenge my assumptions.

The $500K figure sounds about right.

I've been looking, but haven't found the answer to this. Do players on the Developmental Roster count towards the cap or not?

You know, I don't know where that rule is printed, but I'm assuming they are counted. My best evidence is that Goff's salary list implies they do.

If they didn't, there's at least another $150k we don't spend.

BTW, I rediscovered the RevsNet blog the other day which has evidence of how consistently cheap the Revs have been (Thanks for hiding, Mike! :)):

For The Record, The Revs Are Cheap

I think this is important to this discussion.

Developmental and Generation Adidas don't count against the salary cap.

Lets see: A good raise to keep John, 100K to sign Videria and 325K to Gomez takes care of it all.

So you are advocating not having a full roster?

And I'll tattoo the Houston Dynamo logo on my chest and wear a Brian Ching jersey every game while wearing a dunce hat.

Well, Altidore got a $95,000 salary to finish high school in 2006 so the league could keep him stateside. I'm betting Videira will want six figures to stop him from trying out in Europe.

Seriously, no rookie has ever made that much in the first season, why would a second rounder deserve that much.

    I stand corrected.

    Videria is no Freddy Adu.

And I don't see us being the first to offer a second rounder 6 figures. We don't lead, we follow, remember?

Letting Noonan go yet giving a good raise to keep John is just sad.

Would he have been a second rounder if he hadn't declared his aspirations to play in Europe?

Either way, I don't see a rookie getting more than several established starters.

It wasn't significantly more, but Igwe made more than both Dorman and Larentowicz last year. Hell, Willie Sims made more than both of those guys.

I don't even think they need to give John a raise. Doesn't seem like teams are banging down the doors to get him. He really has no place left to go

I bet you are not too far off the mark. what will happen is that the revs will offer 75k, he goes to europe, fails to land a gig then the revs sign him for 50k
