I asked this in the Altidore thread but can anyone tell me if they mean "USA" Americans or North & South Americans?

If they mean USA players I would certainly like to know who the two other players are.

From the context it seems like it means North and South Americans.

They say that their scout is "combing America". They mean the whole western hemisphere, I'm sure.

Calderon probably would have fired Han despite his saving Luke from Darth Vader at the end of ep IV.

In Spain, unless they refer impicitely to the USA as "estados unidos", america encompasses north, central and south, since their is a tremendous amount of immigration from these areas....

Not always. Typically when Spaniards generalize with the word Americano, they mean to be saying estadounidense. They'll use the nationality of the South American country to describe a person from any of the countries south of the Rio Grande.

If the writer meant to include all of the hemisphere, he probably would have said las Americas.

However this doesn't mean that Señor Portugal isn't looking at non estadounidenses playing here in the US.

But it is safe to assume that the writer was talking specifically about the US, based solely upon the reference to Jozy.

    John Wolyniec.

Celtic didn't offer him enough and now he's obviously holding out for Real Madrid money.

Yup, the name did cross my mind, but I'm not aware of La Liga teams bringing in anyone from MLS. Yes, Altidore is in MLS but he has his U-20s.

If the "targets" are in the US, then the two outside of Jozy would/could be any of Edu, Wynne, Mapp, Barrett and maybe even Donovan (hey, if Becks likes him, you know).

    Ha pffffffffffffff hardly

Is there any chance they are following some of our U-17's. That would make a hell of a lot of sense.

Charles Renken, Jean-Claude Gyau, etc. would seem like reasonable players for Madrid to look at. Not to buy now (with the fact they're not old enough) but to scout. That's where I'd be scouting players if I was a Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, etc. Get em young, teach em up. In fact we know Bayern at least was interested in Gyau.

That would make sense as there is at least some history of La Liga teams recruiting youth nats.

Other than reyna;Renken, Gyau, and Jerome, the forward 4 the u-17s will be the 1st world class american players playing at the biggest of clubs no doubt... and my money is firmly on the US to win the U-20 world cup when those guys play!.... did u see those guys whoop brazil off the pitch?

    MARK MY WORDS!

It wouldn't surprise me if the two others were Guzan and Edu.
