I started a Thailand football blog, but instead i'm going to start posting news, etc in here. If anyone's interested, I know a bit about Thai football and have an interest in this nation simply because of my Thai wife. Confirmed clubs for Thai Premier League 2008: Port Authority Chonburi FC Krung Thai Bangkok University Prov Electricity Royal Thai Army BEC Tero Sasana Customs Department Coke-Bangpra Chonburi TOT FC Nakhon Pathom Samut Songkhram Chula-Sinthana Bangkok Bank Tobacco Monopoly Osotsapa M-150 Thailand national team currently on tour in the UK and expected to play against 6th level Hyde United on the 21st January.
Reports suggested a League one or Two team, but nothing seems to have come out of that, not suprised really as most teams will have a hectic schedule. Reports from newspaper article in England (The Mirror) suggest Hyde United (6th Level) on 21st Jan. But nothing reported from Thai media as such.
Yes, finally a topic for Thai Football. Still don't know the schedule of Thai League... I hope BEC Tero will do better this year, we were third the last 2 years. We got a new french coach Christophe from JMG Thailand Academy. Badra Ali, goalkepper return to Ivory Coast. We may lose Pipat (to Tampines Rovers, Singapore) and Narongchai (returning to PEA FC). Hope David Lebras will return with us but seems difficult since BEC Tero don't have contact him. Only 2 new players Sivaruk, goalkeeper of Thai SEA Games and Rangsan, right back who previously played for Geylang (Singapore).
According to FIFA website http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=tha/goalprogramme/index.html Piyapong Pue-on is the Under 18 coach of Thailand at the moment
TOUR TO MAN CITY - bangkokpost.comThailand lose to U-18 side in tune-up TOR CHITTINAND Manchester _ The Thai national team lost 4-3 to Manchester City's Under-18 side in a warm-up match at the club's academy on Tuesday. Playing in cold and wet conditions, Thailand, who had arrived in Manchester two days earlier, got goals from Teerasil Dangda, Pipat Tonkanya and Arthit Sunthornpit. The match was part of Thailand's preparations for their World Cup qualifier in Japan on February 6. They will be training there for around two weeks. Thailand had originally scheduled to play Conference side Altrincham on Tuesday but the match was forced to be cancelled by the muddy pitch as a result of rain. Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin said he was not too serious about the result as his men were adapting to the weather. But he admitted his team needed improvement in several areas. Jim Cassell, Manchester City Academy director, said the warm-up was good for both sides who produced good quality of football. ''Thailand have good technique but they have to improve their defence,'' he said. ''They still have to learn about the English style of football.'' Cassell said he and his staff would help analyse video tapes of Japan's and Thailand's matches.
I haven't heard any official reports of a match taking place, but hear rumors of the Under 20 team or B team playing, but i don't have any thing concreate. Personally, i thought the match was cancelled, due to their tour of UK, but Lebanon seem to be in Thailand for some reason.
Thanks for the information. According to the link you submitted, Warawan Chitawanich and Piyapong Pue-on are currently the coaches of Thai U-17 and U-18 teams. Does Thailand have teams of every age starting from U-16 to U-23?
I'm not so sure, and getting official information of any sort is really damm hard in Thai football. I can't really see why they would have teams at every age, as their would be no competition to take part in most years, in other countires you get a 2 year break between teams, so i can't see why Thailand would be different
Hey that's nice. A thread about the Thai League. Congratz druryfire, you have a Thai wife. Have a Thaigirlfriend from Sri Racha. And of yourse I am interested in the Thai League. So appreciate your Thread and count on your knowledge. Do you have any idea about those two players from Chonburi have moved to ManCity? Do they really wil have a chance to play? Or is it only a "marketing gag" from Khun Takshin? I do not know those players, so I have no idea how good their chances. I only know that other players from Thailand, which have been moved to England before, have failed. And what about the chances of Chonburi in the Asian CL? I just have seen their oponents in the group stage, and thats very tough. I really would like to see the Thai Football is making some steps forward.
Yes, usually there is a 2-3 year break between teams. That's why I was surprised that Thailand has U-17 and U-18 and asked you the question.

MANCHESTER CITY-THAILAND / WARM-UP - bangkokpost.com Eriksson praises Thailand TOR CHITTINAND, MANCHESTER Thailand have won praise from Manchester City coach Sven-Goran Eriksson although the national team lost 3-1 to the club's reserve side in a warm-up match on Thursday. Playing in windy and wet conditions, the Thais got off to a good start when striker Teerathep Winothai opened the scoring after just four minutes. But City, who featured Chinese international Sun Jihai and Paul Dickov, hit back with goals from Shaleum Logan (27), Gary Breen (80) and Ashley Graham (87). Eriksson who watched the game at Carrington Training Centre said Thailand played very well in the first half although City had a number of experienced players. "The Thai national team is technically good with quick movement," he said. "I think the Thai players are not much behind some European players." He said he did not see much about Thailand's weakness as this was just a friendly. Thailand are training at Manchester City as part of their preparations for the World Cup qualifying round. Thailand will begin their campaign in Asia's first group phrase of World Cup qualification away to Japan on February 6. The other two teams in the group are Bahrain and Oman with the top two teams progressing to the next round. Eriksson said Thailand had a chance to finish second behind Japan who are favourites to top the group. Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin said his team had a number of scoring chances but could only find the net once. "We need to improve our scoring," Chanvit said. "We also made mistakes in defence." Meanwhile, Thailand internationals Suree Sukha, Kiatprawut Saiwaew and Teerasil Dangda, who are on City's books, will receive their salary when they train with the club full time. Taweesak Srisumrit, a member of City's executive board, said the club had not yet paid the trio because they were still playing for Thailand. "When they train with us full time, we will pay them their salary without any problem," he said.
TRIP TO ENGLANDThailand boss Chanvit sees improvement - bangkokpost.com Tor Chittinand Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin said yesterday his side had improved a lot since they began training with Premier League side Manchester City a week ago. "After one week here, I have seen improvement in our defence and fitness," Chanvit said. But he admitted that his team had to find their scoring touch as they had squandered numerous chances in their warm-up games. "We created chances but our finishing was not good," he said. Thailand lost 4-3 to City's Under-18s and suffered a 3-1 defeat to the club's reserve side. They defeated City's youth side 1-0 yesterday. Thailand will train at City for two weeks as part of their preparations for World Cup qualification. The kingdom are grouped with Japan, Oman and Bahrain in Asia's first group phrase of the qualification for the 2010 World Cup. The Thais begin their campaign with an away game against group favourites Japan on February 6. Chanvit said the team had one more week in Manchester and believed that his men would be ready for Japan when they completed the training programme. Thailand will have two more friendlies in Manchester - against Hyde United tomorrow and a Manchester United XI on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Chanvit said he would ask the Football Association of Thailand to buy a "Games Breaker" computerised programme which is used by Manchester City to analyse the players. It costs 200,000 baht.

Hyde United - Thailand NT is cancelled because of heavy rain. Not perfect preparations for Thailand...
To be totally honest, it's probably the best thing that could have happened. Really, Thailand playing 6th Level English team? They might aswell have stayed at home and played a Asian team similar to Japan, or another Far East Asian team such as Hong Kong, but all this is about is PR and gaining better links with Manchester City. I personally think that World Cup 2010 will be a struggle, Thailand may sprign a surprise but i can't see them qualifying, but this preperation in England may become useful in the future and hold them in better way in the future. But Thailand also need to take a close look at their near neighbours, Indonesia, year after year, Indonesia take their youth players far away from home, this time to Urguay and try to make them into world beaters, but most players end up home sick and give up football. Thailand are curently running players back and forth between England, Germany and Thailand and using players in all sorts of tournements, such as South East Asian Games, Olympic Qualifiers, so surely at some point burn out will happen, or maybe even rice will run out abroad!!
We need to move forward,we stop moving for a long time. Now is the best chance that we wanna improve our Football.Thailand Leauge is our hope.

Thailand's warm-up match against Manchester United's reserve side was cancelled due to a heavy downpour in the city. The game was scheduled for yesterday at the Carrington Training Ground. It was part of Thailand's preparations for the World Cup qualification. The wet conditions prompted United to cancel the match for fear that their players could risk injury. Thailand will play Manchester City's junior side instead. Thailand yesterday trained at the Platt Lane Complex and coach Chanvit Phalajivin focussed on his men practising set plays and defending against aerial attack. Thailand's will begin their World Cup qualifying campaign in Asia's first group phrase against Japan in Saitama on February 6. Chanvit said the Japanese were strong in every position particularly in attack so defence could be Thailand's key to get a result against them.
