meh. Well, if nothing else, a front line of Donovan & Ruiz should be interesting. C'mon, give us a good season, Carlos!

A Donovan-Ruiz front line could go two ways, it could be lethal, or a disaster, hopefully this will turn out well and Carlos will feel at home again and get back to his MVP-ish ways.

    I feel kind of sick.

But....in honor of Galaxy fans who stuck with the Galaxy even when they acquired the hated Landon Donovan from the hated Earthquakes....I will continue my support.

    Win me over, Carlos.

I can only hope that Guillet, Donovan and Beckham can get the best out of the Fish.

    Free kick anyone.

    Come on you Galaxy.....

Well while Ruiz's isn't the easiest person to like, at least he is a hell of an upgrade from last years forwards not named Landon. But I'm basing that opinion mainly on what I've seen of him in times gone by. Anyone have a feel about why he wasn't so hot last year in Dallas? Physical decline, motivational decline, unlucky, in the wrong system?

Well it's not the best we could have hoped for, but at least we finally acquired SOMEONE this season!

Little Fish: let us hope you can regain some form, and play with some honor next year.

Now, how do we fix our defense?

Well the Dallas posters on average are unhappy about the deal, so that's a good sign, I guess. They know best how he played game-in and game-out last year. They cite the expected: they won't miss his personality, but they are worried about replacing his contributions on the field.

Also they wonder about getting so little for him. Is it possible that the LAG's made a smart trade? Nahh.... must be something wrong - maybe he needs surgery in a couple of weeks. That would fit more with our usual FO moves...

As a Galaxy fan I HOPE this works out. But as I said before I will personally boo the fish as loudly as possible each and every time he flops and I will give him hell about it when he walks into the tunnel (as my seats are right next to the tunnel.)

presumably the draft pick is to help offset the throwing away of a pick on Clint Mathis as he was passing through town on the way to somewhere else.

No truer words were ever spoken. Without better defenders we could have Ruud coaching Becks, Landon, Ruiz, Figo, Kaka, and Cristiano Ronaldo and still end up losing half our games.

I got it - let's convert Becks to a center back!!!

Can't believe I'm saying this...Lalas just pulled off a great deal for LA, for almost nothing, not even Albright.

Not true. We gave up Canon to get this allocation. Do we have another allocation to use on Ruiz's salary so that he won't be a DP when his grandfathering expires?

I think just taking over his full salary, and absorbing the salary cap hit, is what makes it worth it for Dallas. They can upgrade 3 positions for that. Plus the allocation money & the draft pick - I think they did OK.

LA is probably the only team that makes sense for Ruiz right now. Remember, the teams now have to pay the grandfathered players extra salary out of their own pockets - MLS is only paying so much. LA can afford it and just wish they could buy more players.

I don't like how much salary cap we have tied up in just a few players. I agree with those who are worried about our defense, especially in the middle, and in the goal. We could also use some depth on the outside with Jazic gone.

I think the grandfathering extends as far as their contracts do. In other words, in 2 more years, Ruiz will be gone or will be renegotiating. The whole DP system will be re-evaluated by then, too.

I thought I heard something about him working on a green card in the past 6 months.

Gals fans, I know you are skeptical but really, Ruiz is a warrior. I am shuddering thinking about the revenge he will bring down on FCD.
