I'm sick of talking about Big Sam. Time to figure out who is next to sip the poison chalice.

    Mark Hughes
    Harry Redknapp
    Steve McClaren
    Martin Jol
    Alan Shearer
    Kevin Keegan
    Chris Colman
    Bruce Arena

If you see your name above it means I don't want to see you as the next manager of Newcastle United (and you may be a complete ********tard).

I think we can rule out

    Jose
    Klinsmann
    Hitzfeld
    Lippi
    Soueness
    Dalglish

Is there any reason to think 'Arry wants to leave Pompey, or Hughes (Sir Alex in Waiting) wants to leave Blackburn? They both have the support of their owners and the fans. Both are competing for Europe. Harry's nearing retirement and Hughes will be in the mix for all the Top Four jobs that come open. Especially the next time Chelski and when ManU come open.

    Thx,

    Jay!

ps. Fat Mike Ashley needs to pack up his act and take it from the stands to the boardroom. He doesn't need to be on TV proving that he's a True Newcastle Supporter any longer. By firing the manager he's made his bones in that arena.

I like Jose but he can't come according to the papers and why would he?

    the Special One
    Steve Coppell
    Gus Hiddink
    Scolari
    Lippi
That one guy that won that one cup back then
    Hitzfeld
    Klinsmann
    Jesus H. Christ

I really have no idea but whoever it is needs to have a scouting network and relationships with agents in place to bring in some quality players this summer.

I don't think Ashley will stick with an British manager. That mentality is a holdover of Freddy's final few choices.

    You heard it here first:

    Didier Deschamps

He is foreign, has a decent CV, and said he want's an English job. Even Wikipedia thinks he could be the next manager and they are never wrong... about anything.

    From some random Pompey site.

Can anyone confirm the Sky report because if he said English that's huge? I hope it's Steve Coppell if that's the case.

Eh. Reading haven't had the best record of defending...

If the target's English and currently employed, that rules out over half of the Premier League so it may well be a Championship manager.

Current English managers in the Premier League:
    Southgate - Ha. No.
Redknapp - Perhaps an idea solution if the criteria is accurate
Bruce - Already took a job this season, so no.
    Jewell - See Bruce.
    Hodgson - See Bruce, Jewell
Coppell - Eh. Not sure. Would provide attacking football but what about Reading's defense?
Megson - See Bruce, Jewell, Hodgson.
Curbishley - Probably option two on this list, if we're restricting it to currently employed Englishmen.

So this poll on SkySports has Shearer, Mourinho and Jol in the lead followed by McLaren (eek), O'Leary, (eek, eek) and then Lippi. Rounding out the numbers are Moyes (who is probably the best Brit choice) Hughes and Fat 'Arry with 0%.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Gotta love rumors. From NUFC.com -

"Day two of big bother in Toon and money is being placed on Kevin Keegan amid claims of sightings in the region. Meanwhile the name of David Moyes was mentioned by several callers to Merseyside phone ins on Wednesday."

There is no way Moyes comes from Everton and I can't imagine Keegan coming back after all of this time, although there is American precedent for this kind of thing. Before my Eagles signed Andy Reid they interviewed Dick Vermeil who hadn't coached in about 20 years at that point. When the Eagles didn't sign Vermeil he went on to renewed success with the Rams. Could Keegan come back? That would certainly make the fans happy but would he do it and, in today's game, would he be any good? Still, gotta love rumors....

Source? Every website I visit says he's not interested or hasn't been contacted, or Pompey won't let him go.

You need to relax. No one knows anything. Save the spouting off until something is official.

Sky changes their story every hour and nufcblog.com is posting any nonsense that is on the net.

Ashley needs to stop ********ing around with the club. You don't stand with the away supporters and make business decisions based on their opinions. You don't fire Big Sam to hire Redknapp or Hughes. You don't fire your manager in January without having a backup already ready and you don't hire a first time manager with no experience.

I'll ********ing calm down when the management of this club stops listening to dumb ass halfwit boo boys, hack washed up sport writers, and former footballers masquerading as intelligent football pundits.

If they hire Redknapp or Hughes, then, by all means, go nuts, hate on Ashley/Mort, etc.

But for all we know, Hughes/Redknapp may never have been considered by Ashley. All I'm saying is give them a chance, see who they come up with, and don't say he's a ********ing idiot based on rumors.

As insane and frustrating as this all is, there is no sense getting ourselves all worked up until we know for sure who the new manager is going to be.

Again I hope it isn't Shearer, but if it is, ( as someone else posted somewhere on this or another thread,) and he fails. Then the fans that are as bright as a 2 watt bulb will stop chanting his name and the organization as a whole can move on and pick a real manager and let that manager get on with building the squad into something proper.

Until that point in time it is all random speculation and drama this team, (and it's fans,) could do without.

Some of these rumours are just laughable, SKY have changed their minds on the hour, every hour, first its Redknapp then its Moyes, then its Hughes, and as for these tin-pot websites linked on newsnow, how much credibility do they have ? according to one of them Redknapp has been on a plane all afternoon to Newcastle, where's he flying from ? Cape Town ? lol
