Somewhere around midseason I decided that it was better for my batsmen's PFL to not monkey around with trying to artificially extend matches.

Rovers Town won on a flat pitch, after my non-openers lasted all of about 20 runs after the openers went for about 200. I'm not sure how much I lost out by having Sarge in bad form, he didn't score all that quickly but still was around a SR of 100 and got his century.

picking 7 guys to bowl tomorrow. including a batsmen who just so happens to be med/med in bowling. he's a spinner.

really wish I could play Coetzer, but his PFL is low and I NEED to win the ODer. and he just popped in bowling :)

 You're sitting second, I'd need max points and a substantial NRR bump to overtake you, and you've got Golden Eagles in the final round. How is it that you NEED to win the ODer?

If anything, you've got a greater need to either beat or draw Doobies in FC, as you're sitting in first place there. (Then again, if you feel that's unattainable, you're pretty much locked into second and do have placing to play for in OD, although I don't think the 50,000 or 75,000 pds difference in prize money is really worth exerting yourself over.)

I'm locked into 2nd in FC. I can't beat Doobies if he plays Poutney and Janes. hell, if he rests one of them i still wouldn't be able to force a draw. they are just that good.

and yes, I NEED to wint he ODer. I would like to finish as high as I can!!! :)

Playing at home they chose to bat, bowled them out for 128. Am 4-391 at stumps, normally I would try to bat out most of the day for the extra gate receipts but I am deciding to declare overnight and give the team a day off as a bonus for winning the FC league.

Hmm, I wonder when the weather change went through? It was supposed to be partly cloudy and humid in the Leeward Islands, but I checked in on the match and it's partly cloudy and windy instead. A good thing too, as Slumlords apparently checked the weather report and put me in to bat. I had figured on two bowling days, partly cloudy and humid, sandwiching a batting day, cold and windy; Slumlords has wretched bowling but very competent batting so they're a risk for a draw if they get favorable weather. Instead, I start out at bat on a good batting day and now have partly cloudy and humid weather forecasted for the next two days.

Guess it's a good thing I lost the coin flip. :)

Not off to the best start on the attack. Slumlords over 4 RR in the first ten overs. I'm crossing my fingers that I get bowling weather tomorrow.

yes I got three wickets, but now he has two of his best bats in, with the 3rd one coming in next, so I would love to luck into another wicket before the end of the day!

I have to win the current match to have the slightest chance at winning the series. I'd be mathematically alive on a draw, but then I'd expect to see a hard'n'fast pitch (I think that's the low-wicket one) on the return fixture to force a draw, I wouldn't be able to make up enough in bonus points. Normally, when I declare with 20 to 30 overs left, I'll get a wicket before the end of the day, but it doesn't look like that's happening today.

Edit: Er, never mind, first wicket fell on the refresh while I was typing the above. :p

    haha, you spoke too soon!

I'm thinking that Doobie put his bowlers on defensive, because I can't find a reason that Harris lasted 205 balls, with a lot of them coming from Poutney and Janes. he's not THAT good.

    nice work :)

i face the prospects of a long day in the field. however, the weather is now bowling friendly. so if I can get the tired batsmen out and then luck into one of the other ones I may be able to end this today, and by end this I mean lose today! :p

Four wickets down, this is like pulling hen's teeth. If Slumlords could bowl a lick, they'd be right up there in the fight with me and Peters. I'm wondering if I shouldn't have done my shift-nets strategy last week.

Well, the good news is, I bowled out Slumlords in less than 90 overs, and with the scoring pace so far today I think I'll be able to declare relatively early tomorrow and have a fighting shot at winning.

    good luck!

Doobie's declared, which I didn't think they would do, at like 400-7. and i'm already 3 down, with over an hour left to play. I don't think I'll last so tomorrow will be a rest day for friday!

    fine with me :)

I wound up at a 400-run lead at the end of the day, as the overs yesterday meant that Slumlords were out a little earlier in the day than I had expected. The RRR to chase that down will be around 3.6, so I'll be in a little bit of danger tomorrow, but I'm going to take the risk of immediate declaration to give my bowlers 110 (or maybe 109) overs to bowl them out. Last match, they (oddly) went very quickly on a sunny day on a dusty pitch. The forecast for tomorrow is humid, but that was how it was supposed to be today and it wound up merely partly cloud (sic).

The weather forecast isn't good enough. This is the third straight day that the weather has been different from the forecast. On top of that, my bowlers are significantly less economical than they were in day 2, which has me in real danger.

My worrying proved groundless, as we bowled them out for 205 and a (relatively) comfortable win.
