    The American Empire
Yemen was arguably the weakest team in the group. I hope youre right and they do better against Iraq and Tajikestan.

Iran beat india 1-0 in their first game last tourney too so maybe it's a tradition. Hopefully they'll make the semis at least like last time...

You know, over the years I have learned a lesson from my younger brother (I hope he is not reading this to see me acknowledging it! :D ).

The lesson is, there are sooooooo many things wrong with Iranian football that getting stressed over anything BUT what happens on the "green rectangle" over the course of 90 minutes (60 for TM!! :p ) is a waste of time. Let me explain:

If today we got the best coach in the world and he was allowed to bring the best staff with him, we would still do not reach our potential by the next WC. Why? Because there is so much wrong with the federation.

Let's suppose the federation then got fixed and we got the best coach, and the best federation officials. Same thing! Why? Because our league sucks and our home based players will never reach their potential.

Let's suppose we got the best coach, federation officials, and clubs. The you got the government owned facilities that suck the big one. Take city of Ahvaz for example, as soon as Foolad started doing well, city decided to renovate the stadium. One year and a half later Foolad still does not have a decent field. And they are in the red because they had a 50% budget cut and had to travel for hours EVERY week for their games.

Even if all the above are the best, then we have the f--king mandatory draft. Players have to serve in the armed forced for TWO YEARS! From the age of 18 to 20. The most formative years for a footballer. SOme of them end up playing for Armed Forces teams like Pas or Sepas, but that is only a few lucky ones.

Then you got the MORAL officials that do things like mess with players hair styles, tatoos, and teamates (See my post regarding Ando).

It is only thanks to a few hard working people in the football business and the players themselves that we have even managed to stay competetive in Asia. I salute them, and the hell with all the others who only function to forward their none footballagenda through football.

Wow! It felt good to let it all out!! ;)

    Afshin, good post

I couldn't agree more, You cant merely cut branches the overlying problem lies within the roots of the tree. Iranian football wont improve till Iran as a whole does. With all the crap going with An, Mullahs and footballeh etelati its irritating and amazing that football in Iran has gone on to this extent. Laughable to some, but theres extreme talent in Iran which has been hindered tremendously. People wonder why our talents go to UAE at such a young age, they want to get out even if it means playing in a non pro league. Vaghan hale adamo migereh vatigeh estedadah mesle Mobali, Kazemian, Kabei, and Borhani ruin their careers by going to leagues like this.

Amir's job could be in jepordy if he loses this game to syria..because for years we have always dominated syria and all the arab teams and if he were to lose against syria and then lose the next game it would be over for him... good replacements for him includes

The frenchmen that took japan to round 2 in 2002 and there are alot of brazilian and dutch coaches looking for jobes

Iran's U-17 coach is "puzzled" about his team's lackluster performance. With a game against Japan coming up on Monday. he has verylittle idea as to what he can do to fix the problems!

Although many people believe I am the best forum poster of the year there is no need for you to ask people to vote for me . I don’t need a poll to show the obvious , everybody knows valanjak is the best member of the year.
