congrats on the win, lost by 55 runs. ended up playing on a flat pitch instead of the dusty pitch i wanted, the change didnt happen at the daily updates which seemed strange.

    thanks!

sucks about your pitch. when did you start your team? I've noticed that my groundsman can go at least one pitch change per updated (if not more, i haven't really kept track of how quick he is)

4/12/06, so coming up on a year now. this is my 3rd season, team is slowly getting towards promotion, prob a couple of OD seasons away though.

the pitch changes normally go a level each update, so when i checked it the day before the game being flat set to dusty i was expecting it to definately go through.

oh well, prob would've still lost.

weird that the pitch change didn't happen quicker then! I thought maybe if you had a newer team, and therefore a less experienced groundskeeper then it would take longer.

in other news, no training pops, just some tired players. I think I may lose one of my matches this week.

This is embarassing. I am losing to a bot, granted a good bot team, but still pathetic.

They got 249 runs in their 1st innings & I am 9-116 in reply 32 overs in. I did rest a couple of players but still this is a pathetic performance by my team.

Only hope is to get them cheaply in their 2nd innings today and hope my bats remember to use the willow that is in their hands.

    Not happy.

i made 383-2 and now have them at like 67-4

would love to get them out for under 120ish. then rack up a quicky 200 or so runs, then declare

I haven't updated my progress on this thread yet this season since in the last couple of seasons things started going horribly wrong right after I posted on here saying how well things were going at that point.

I figure I may as well post now though anyway since things are pretty much certain to go wrong from now on anyway!

I ditched FC matches this season because I cant really be bothered with needing to log on everyday, plus I thought I had a good chance of challenging to become a real top team in the OD competition.

Things have been going pretty superbly so far, starting with my customary 2 great youth pulls in the early weeks :)

Then Chanderpaul became India's first elite player a few weeks in

    Vallabh Chanderpaul - 23 yo, BT Rating=211,536
RH Batsman, RM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, energetic
A cautious player with respectable leadership skills and masterful experience.
    Stamina: superb Wicket Keeping: abysmal
    Batting: elite Concentration: elite
    Bowling: feeble Consistency: proficient
    Fielding: quality

Things have been going well in the league, not going to win it but i've won all my matches at a canter except against 1st where i've twice lost fairly narrowly. 2nd should be fairly secure and next season I expect to win it and get into the county chapionship with a bit of luck.

The highlight of the season though has been a superb run in the Engish cup that has seen us storm into the semis where we face the sky blues. Amazingly the semi final will be my first ever home cup match, after 8 seaons and over 50 cup matches!

Another couple of achievements are currently having the highest OD wicket taker in the world with Fredericks on no less than 79 wickets! I'm also one of very few, possibly the only team, to have taken every possible OD wicket this season, having bowled out the opposition in every league and cup match. I'm happy with both of these since most the wickets have been taken either in the latter rounds of the cup or in what batstats reckoned was the 3rd/4th toughest league in the world.

Like i said i expect things to start taking a serious turn for the worse any time now, almost certainly next Sunday in fact, but so far i'm delighted and proud with the season!

ended up winning by 8 wickets, saved myself from a really embarrassing loss.

i think that bot will push a fair few teams in my league though, he has a wonderful bowler who even at fresh PFL is tough when your best bats are superb at best.

Andy, Chanderpaul looks like a dead ringer for Sarge. There are some variations in skill, but he's got the same cautious temperament, which I think is pretty close to ideal in a batsman.

Won my FC match yesterday by an innings and over 100 runs, which should keep pace in the FC league. If I can avoid an upset by the dregs, it'll come down to the finale at Batty Men. The only real question is going to be Peters... I need them to go hard after Batty Men and get a win or draw in their match, else Batty Men can go with something like hard'n'fast or flat and play for the draw against me.

Morrell is going to be a beast when I get his secondaries up further, his stamina up, and his PFL recovers. I think his destructive temperament will always work against him as a batsman, though. (I like it in him as a bowler, particularly in FC...)

He would have been truly amazing if I'd gotten him as an early pull, with 35 ITS. He was double-respectable, no secondaries, with no ITS invested at all.

double respectable, no ITS? wow, train the hell out of him. I've been waiting for one of those for a while! he would've been a high proficient in one of the primaries if you had put ITS on him, not to mention have at least one decent secondary!

He was late-season too, hence the no ITS, and I had a late start on fully training him. He's going to end up around remarkable/remarkable, where he is now (past halfway in his age 22 season), he might pick up another primary level if I work the secondaries long enough.

The guy I'm training like mad is two years younger, quality/quality primaries.

man, i need to get into gear with all-arounders!

right now Olivier is quality/strong. he's a batsmen. He should be remarkable/superb by the time he is 19 so he'll be a beast. My bowling trainee is going to be good, not a monster, but a good 3rd bowler is needed. Coetzer is still getting nets, but that'll stop once he pops again in his primary

just beat Rovers Town. very happy to get the win. Didn't think I was going to since my bowlers were tired. Staying up is looking like it'll happen!

Craig, the only OD starters I'm playing in our LOC match are Spearitt and Coleman, so I expect to lose.

I'll probably include Sarge down-order, I haven't set the lineup other than that though. My scrubs are pretty scrubby.

    mine too

I played some starters last week and even though it was only a friendly one of them had some PFL issues. so i'll just throw my scrubs out.

Well I won so I guess it worked :)

Chanderpaul took a stumping and a catch on the way to getting them all out for 189 which we chased with astonishing comfort with 7 wickets and around 9 overs to spare, mainly thanks once again to an unbeaten 100 from Chanderpaul.

I got an elite seam rating for the 1st time today and my middle order jumped to wonderful after ditching my keeper :)

Next up the mighty Ladbroke Rovers in the final! This time there is literally no chance of winning but i'll be pulling out all the stops all the same. I hope I at least get to bowl first just so I at least have a chance of bowling them out and stay on course for taking every possible OD wicket over an entire season.

i am so far behind all of you, i get comp / resp ratings at best. my better players are strong / superb and young so i guess it is just a matter of time until they get better.

playing at home for FC this round against an easy team, bowled them out for 130 with 2 trainee FM's taking 4 wickets each, the other 2 went to one of my spin bowlers.

am 2-250 at stumps, one step closer to promotion if i win this game.

    how are you all going?
