i agree some US fan posted his 2 best American keepers and trew in 2 more International players,,,BUT according to The Footballer of the Year Award there are only 3 choices since only 3 goal keepers are nominated to it haha but in my opinion it would fall between BUFFON yeah and like 4 others such as Chech or Guardado idk tho
Those poll choices are ludicrous. Everyone else seems to vote for their own keeper. Buffon and Casillas stand out to me.
I might be going out on a limb here. But when Gigi Buffon finally hangs up his boots he will be regarded as the best keeper ever.
if he stays healthy, yes, it is possible. he is the "maradona" of keepers, i believe. you weren't being sarcastic, were you? just making sure
the best goalkeeper is without a doubt Rogério Ceni, from São Paulo. he is amazing, although I hate to admit it... cuz I hate São Paulo. But he is really the best in the world. And he already scored what... 70 goals in his career?? He is not only the best goalkeeper as also one of the best freekickers in the world.
It's an old poll, and when it was made it was obviously supposed to be a troll. But it's led to interesting discussions nonetheless.
its hard to rate keepers like zoff and yashin who we havnt really seen play regularly cus they are before our time giovanni that guy looks stupid in that video, is that ochoa? making elaborate dives when he doesnt need to the best keeper in my generations or keepers have to be Schmeichel, brilliant at nearly every aspect of goalkeeping, especially organising his defence lol! buffon is brilliant and the best nowadays imo along with petre cech who is excellent too i like casillas but he punches the ball too much and does stupid over the top diving saves like valdes if we are talking about people of old why not banks or shilton?
No sarcasm. I felt this two years ago when I chose him in my eleven for the all-time draft. He is the ultimate keeper: agile, big, consistent. He doesn't have any real weaknesses. I guess you can say he's not a great penalty kick stopper but that is more about luck than skill.
yeah, i figured you were serious, and i am too i think he is really, really good, but part of being an all-time great is to do it through your 30's to nearly 40. if he can do that, he can put himself up there in the pantheon of the greats.
I agree. When you see him in between the posts you really feel confident that he always give 110% and save you on more than one occasion. He's one of those keepers that guarantees his team an extra 15-20 points in a season.
New list from me: 1. Petr Cech (Chelsea) 2. Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) 3. Iker Casillas (Real Madrid) 4. Sebastien Frey (Fiorentina) 5. Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United) 6. Robert Enke (Hannover 96) 7. Carlos Kameni (Espanyol) 8. Julio Cesar (Inter Milan) 9. Jose Reina (Liverpool) 10. Manuel Neuer (Schalke 04)
1) Buffon 2) Coupet 3) Van der Sar 4) Casillas 5) Ramé 6) Frey 7) Mandanda 8) Janot 9) Landreau 10) Lloris In my opinion French goalkeepers are generally the best in the world. I see them play every week and Spanish or Brazilian goalkeepers can't take the comparison. Petr Cech wasn't even the best goalkeeper of Ligue 1 with Rennes.
completely objective statement here!!! he was only 7 years old, though. from wikipedia: "He currently holds three records: a Czech professional league record of not conceding a goal in 855 competitive minutes, an English Premiership record of not conceding a goal in 1,025 minutes, and the most clean sheets accomplished in a single Premier League season (25), set during Chelsea's 2004-05 title-winning campaign. He also has a club record at his former team Sparta Praha, having gone 928 minutes unbeaten in all competitions in 2001-2002, when his unbeaten run in Czech league competition was combined with his performances in the UEFA Champions League."
