GKDAD, GKMOM, and The GK made it back last night with a good dose of Orange on the 7:29pm flight out of Reagan/National. Can't understand why it's so hard to concentrate at work today?!
I'm home. I managed to get an earlier flight. AirTran 472 nonstop from BWI to Orlando. It got delayed by an hour. But I still made it to Orlando at a time when otherwise I'd be half-way to Atlanta. Hell, I'd be getting on the plane at Hartsfield right now. An awesome time, and I plan on trying to get a couple videos I took online.
Well, I think that's just about everybody safely home. You looked and sounded awesome on TV and we're so glad you made it back without incident. Good job, y'all!!
By reading and looking at pictures fron El Dia, it looks like you guys had a pretty good event going at the Mezz.
This trip was special. As Dynamo Dave told me, I have "memories to last a lifetime". I can't lie, I felt strong pride wearing the orange and walking around RFK. The fans around the stadium were nice and the media were like dogs in heat wanting as much El Battalion & Texian Army action they could get. I got to chant "Dale Dale Dale Dynamo" with Paul into a Fox Soccer Channel (FSC) camera. I also had a FSC sports analyst ask me to teach him a Dynamo chant in Spanish. I loved how we got louder as soon as we went down 1-0. I loved how I forgot to eat all day because I was that damn excited & drunk. Even one of my best friends in DC, a United fan was so impressed with the Houston SGs. He put on a Texian Army shirt, stood with us and chanted Houston on. I could go on & on but all I can say is I'm glad I joined TA as the playoffs were starting up and took the trip to DC with them. Much thanks to Offebacher for letting me stay in his hotel room!
Yes, and I thank you for putting that song back in my mind just as we were about to sleep. That D**M song gets stuck and plays over and over . Welcome to the TA / EB you are home young grasshopper..
If you watch the game on ABC, when Twellman scores the NER fans go nuts, but about 3 minutes later, all you can hear is "Dale, dale, dale, Dynamo". This is why we are great.
Speaking of which, does anyone have a recording of the game? I didn't DVR it for superstitious reasons. I got back home about an hour and a half ago and I am thoroughly exhausted from this weekend. What an amazing weekend though. I still don't think it's hit me fully that we won. I mean, I know and I'm floored but I'm almost too floored to grasp it all.
I heard that quite a bit over ABC. My neighbors thought I was ging nuts singing and drumming with you guys in my driveway. I asked you to represent, and you did. You all made everyone in SG's look good, both by being loud and bombastic. You didn't stop, and actually stepped it up when the boys needed it. Congratulations, you voyagers to a far off land. You all did a damn fine job. Except SuperDynamo. I see he was entirely too drunk almost 24 hours in advance to be of any use to you.
It was great! We got to the Mezz at 10:10 (they opened at 10) and all the tables were already taken. We had to set up house on one of the pool tables. Overflow went to the patio. We ate, we drank, we sang and we cheered - loved every minute of it.
50 hours + later... El Batallon is baaaaaack!!! man that was a short trip... we are thinking about a road trip to central america for the CCC... who wants to be the first one on the list???
super dynamo and crying outside the bar the stinky batallon bus homies and the virus they all caught back home ...... thanks max for letting us crash at your place.
We made it back home okay last night. There were like 7 other Dynamo fans on the plane with us. When we landed to flight attendant said "Welcome to Houston, Texas - home of the Houston Texans." And the Dynamo group in the back of the plane yelled "Dynamo!" It was funny. I had a blast this weekend! I wish we could of arrived earlier so we could go site seeing but partying with y'all Saturday night was fun enough. Thank you to everybody for making this a memorable trip. And extra thanks to Sam and Max for the tailgate. I was the one who got thrown up on this trip. But no worries, the puker was a fun drunk. Btw, I'm totally down for a trip for Concacaf. I really wanted to go to Costa Rica but the timing with school didn't work out. I'm pledging to make more of an attempt this year. Oh yeah, and big props to all of those that drove to DC. I'm really glad that y'all made it in time for the game and then made it home okay.
I got back a little after 8 this morning and had to go into work. One of the drilling engineers came by to talk to me about some cement tests, and I realized I had no voice. Hell, the trip was more than worth it. It's gonna be hell waiting for the off season to end.
I'm back home at last. That was the road trip to end all road trips. At the exit of the airport a guy working there saw my TA shirt and walked over to ask to shake my hand for making the trip. He told me how he had been so worried that only a few people would make the trip up to support the team and that he was so happy when he saw so many of us up there. I thought for sure that if I turned around I would see that I had just crossed over one of those finish lines that you see at marathons with an elapsed time clock ticking away. Anyway it was a great way to end the trip.
whiskey sam is now back in Houston. One of the highlights of my life. I see a future that is filled with weekends like this with our team. It will only get better!!!!!!!!!!!
This was by far the best weekend ever!!! Hanging out w/ all of you guys from Friday-Monday was a blast. I cannot believe I saw Super Dynamo & Jeff while I was walking to the Crystal City Metro early in the morning. The 4x4 tourney was hilarious and it overshadowed the US MNT event in the RFK parking lot. I'm really surprised that Chris Armas played with us. ...And after the game was over, Armas really stunk up the Dynamo jersey I let him borrow, LOL! After Armas left for the day, we thought that he came back and was picking up trash. it turned out that it was a Chris Armas look-alike. All in all, thanks TA & EB more making me feel like one of your own even though I am not a member (yet). Everyone I met was awesome. Since I'm not sure how I introduced myself to people, I would be known as either "yossarin", Raymond, "Indiana Ray" b/c of the hat, Raymundo, Ray, and "that-guy-that-looks-kinda-like-a-celebrity, but-not-sure-who, but-who-may-not-be-famous-at-all-but-you-look-familiar"
I forgot to mention that on my layover at Cincinatti... a couple of Crew fans wanted me to extend their congratulations to all of us that went up there. They said we looked and sounded great and that the game was badass!
