Portugal is tied 0-0 with Armenia so far, if they lose we are Number 1 in the group

And at least this time various douchebags can't claim that we were in a weak group! We still need a good showing at the Euros themselves, but I am sure that with Leo at the helm we will no longer suffer from low self esteem like we did at the last two WC's.

As for the game: Boruc's work on that free kick when it was still 0:0 was fantastic. That was virtually an undefendable strike, right at the "okienko"! If they score on that free kick, God only knows if we have enough faith in ourselves to score two more goals. Boruc is the quiet hero of the game for me, for that one save alone.

Smolarek was great, showed his pace and football smarts on both goals. Zurawski not too bad, seems to fit well with the role that Leo gave him, a true leader. Krzynowek solid as always, Blaszczykowski absolutely awesome on a number of ocassions, made some of these young Belgians look like children, I have no idea why Leo would start Lobo (who wasn't too bad, but nothing special) instead of him....unless he wants Kuba to come in and shock the already tired opponents.

Defense very good, all of them all solid, even Bak fouling (and getting his yellow) only when he absolutely had to. Lewandowski really a rock, I have no idea what happend to him, he was awful playing under Engel and Boniek, and now he's pure class.

Anyway, very very happy here, guys. I was just a little kid during our golden years in the mid 70's to mid 80's, but could never understand why a team that consitently makes it into the WC (and does very well there) can't get into the European Championships. Now we finally made it, and I really do hope that we can make a great showing.

Oh and another thing...next time some piddly mofo tries to tell me that Boruc is not a world class keeper (believe it or not there are such people on these boards) all I will need to so is show him that save against Belgium...

Thank you Borussia. We're all very excited and cant wait for summer 08! A very good win. The players were noticeably nervous and tense at the beginning but they didn't choke and pulled out a decisive victory and thats all that should matter. After watching the first game of qualifying(3-1 loss to Finland at home) with my buddy I remember saying that our chances of making Euro were virtually gone. I am very happy that I was proven wrong by Leo Beenhakker, his staff and the players themselves!

Excellent win for Poland on Saturday. I was able to see the replay on Sunday and I was pleased. This team came very far in qualifications. After the opening loss to Finland and the draw with Serbia, things did not necessarily look good, but the wins over Portugal and at Belgium really got things going and the team did not look back.

I am anxious for the draw to see which other teams Poland will face in the group phase of this tournament. Congrats to Poland!!
