Re: MLS Cup planning -- Dynamo Supporters Section in RFK Stadium if we say please will you let us have the field level seats?
Re: MLS Cup planning -- Dynamo Supporters Section in RFK Stadium 236 and or 237 will not allow our Orange to be on TV when the game is being played. That sucks big time compared to last year when we were in the corner and very visible. It looks like this 236 and 237 section is United's FO favorite spot inside RFK to stick visiting supporters. I would like to know where the Tea Baggers from New England will be planted in RFK. It would be a slight jab at Houston supporters making the journey to RFK to be tucked away in a no visible location (and probably hard to hear from that far back of the pitch) and then United's FO placed a rival set of supporters like the Revs folks opposite camera side so they can be viewed over the course of the match. Does anyone know why the section for Dynamo visiting supporters from our match back in May up there was not made available? It seems that the previous location to be a similar location but just on the other side of RFK and a place where our Orange can be visible and songs can be heard like versus DCU in May??? I recall seeing the Chicago supporters who made the trip to RFK but the ESPN camera crew had to use a seperate camera and then break from the field view to focus in on them. Other than that it was broadcasted like no Chicago die hards made the trip to support their guys. ABC should have the United FO be a little more supporter oriented but with pre-sale tickets from DCU folks this might be where United's FO just doesn't give a shit about the broadcast and just sticks to their SOP.
Re: MLS Cup planning -- Dynamo Supporters Section in RFK Stadium Us "Tea Baggers" will be on the same side of the field, but opposite corner. I'm not sure which section, but we're in two of these, 127-131. We've also got sections in the 200s, 300s, 400s and 500s (basically going right up from the bottom level).
Re: MLS Cup planning -- Dynamo Supporters Section in RFK Stadium 127 you say. Would have been really cool to set up some temp seats like RFK had for USA vs Honduras back in the '01 Hex IIRC. That would have allowed for both teams to have the Fort behind one goal and our Hinchada Texana behind the other. There could have been a way to get fans even closer to the field and I think the die hards wouldn't have minded the temp bleachers. Not like anyone would be sittin' down!
100-level seats being made available to Houston supporters Sorry I haven't gotten posted earlier with more information - things are just very busy on this end putting different pieces to the weekend puzzle together and I wanted to inform someone in the leadership of the supporters' groups before doing this. You have probably gotten the section(s) that the Houston supporters are standing in - I assume it is somewhere in the vicinity of 236 and 237 behind the Aerie (Section 139). The section runs from the top of the penalty area towards the corner flag at a diagonal. I have a block of seats that have been kindly returned to me from members of our teams. Since we are not in the Final and we should attempt to be good hosts, any Houston supporter that wants to can purchase tickets via paypal for $35 and have the tickets emailed directly to them using the information at http://screaming-eagles.com/?page_id=538 while the supply lasts (currently 32 seats). There is no service charge, etc. (in fact these tickets are part of a larger block that I purchased at a reduced rate and $10 per ticket will be going to our donation to the Soccer in the Streets program). This may or may not help the last minute folks. I will keep these available until 3pm on Thursday EST before giving them to DC United or our charities. Needless to say, the folks who stand in 139 will be very visible as well as the banners being hung from the Aerie (which in fairness to the visiting hordes will be festooned with whatever Orange and Black the TA/EB bring with them). Why you might even be able to hurl some orange and black streamers during REVs corner kicks... Oh, and they are a hell of alot better than the seats you had on your last visit up in the 300 level Have a safe trip and see you all when you get to the Nation's Capital! For more information on this or the weekend activities feel free to drop a note to outreach@screaming-eagles.com and I will try to answer them as best I can in a timely fashion. Re: MLS Cup planning -- Dynamo Supporters Section in RFK Stadium So many threads, too little time! I am trying to remedy some of that disparity as best we can under the circumstances. See this post for details. I am attempting to rustle up as many 100-level seats for you guys as I can from my block - but understand that folks have been set on seats for a while and some, despite DC United not being in attendance, still want to come for the "event". Quite frankly that is a good thing and a hopeful sign for the sport. In fact, my five-year old's first live match ever was watching LA beat NE in a final and he is NOT going to miss THIS match! Re: 100-level seats being made available to Houston supporters Thank you Sir. will they allow us to bring flags and streamers into RFK??
Re: 100-level seats being made available to Houston supporters Here's a question. Why are the Revs supporter's in 127-131 if we are in 236 and 237? I don't think they are paying more. Why were things set up this way? I appreciate efforts to get some of us into 139 and I'll cheer no matter where I am but this doesn't seem right.
Re: 100-level seats being made available to Houston supporters This is by no means official but more an educated guess of how this is operating. The supporters sections run from 132-134 (SE), then 135-137 (BB). 138 has some season ticket holders but is mostly empty and 139 is wholly owned by KGDG, who is the SE vice president. So outside of some seats in 138 there are no large blocks of seats available from 132 on in the 100 levels on the loud (TV) side. I'm presuming they wanted to have the supporters on the loud side, but on opposite ends, and they stuck the Revs fans down on the left corner rather than the Dynamo fans there just out of flipping a coin or something. It's also possible that they expect most DC fans to prefer Houston to NE (they'd be right) and that you guys would be better received over by where SE and BB are than the Revs fans would be. I'm an SE leader so I can't speak for BB, but judging from their chatter I wouldn't expect as many BB people as usual in the stadium - although there certainly will be plenty. You guys might be able to bleed down some into 138 without a problem. The SE sections are solidly sold.
Re: 100-level seats being made available to Houston supporters It's a pain in the ass to sort all this out, let me assure you. My understanding is that there aren't many sections that are empty enough at that lower level to accommodate all of the people who want to stand with the Houston SG and there aren't any in the 100s. Between MLS sales and TA sales, there are 240 people who want to stand in the Houston SG. I have been talking with BB and one of their sections is mostly empty so we are going to have to take that one (234). It's still not right next to the field because SE, BB, and Rev supporters have taken them all but at least it's more centrally located than 236 and 237.
Re: 100-level seats being made available to Houston supporters Don't worry, we'll take over the closest section to the field which is able to accomodate 250 supporters ... war is on and fukc the Rev's!
I think it's crap that when we win the cup, our guys won't be able to come and celebrate in front of us. Very, very poor planning (and very shady too) by the DC front office. But a big thanks to the BB for offering us the section they did. That's very cool.
the DCU front office screwed us over, but i guess they thought PHP was a home game for Houston and RFK will be a home game for NE. let's prove them wrong by singing our asses off.
Yes but at least there we were both in equal sections. It's ridiculous we are stuck away from the field when they let the other supporter's have field level access. But you are right. We'll still be louder than them no matter how far away from the DC front office tries to put us.
Anybody with a little bit of common sense would know that you can't fit Barra Brava, Screaming Eagles, and two other groups on one side of the field. We're getting the shaft because the DC front office isn't competent enough to do basic math.
That has as much to do with getting everyone on the TV side as anything else. In Frisco, it wasn't a big deal because their SG is small and their home section isn't on TV to begin with. In DC, it's a much bigger deal because their SGs take up most of the sections you see on TV during the run of play and they obviously aren't going to give them up for this game (nor should they). That means there are limited sections on that side and we are getting the numbers crunch since NE is apparently bringing some decent numbers (personally, I'll believe it when I see it but they should be bringing a fair amount of people).
I don't give a rat's ass about being on tv. I'm going to support my team, not wave at the camera. And I doubt we'll be shown all that often if we're stuck in the 200's level. I stand by my statement that the DC front office is full of idiots.
Jeez this whole ticket process seems way to freakin' complex for an organization that has already hosted 2 MLS Cup Finals! I would have liked to think that version 3.0 of DCU hosting this thing would have seen a very streamlined seating arrangement for the 2 rivals and all the local "neutrals" that are gonna be there. ABC and MLS league leaders, for marketing sake, would always want us Houston supporters to be visible and celebrated over the air for our passion and backing of the guys on the field. All this just sells the game on MLS's few ABC global broadcasts. Kinda, they sold front row seats to Club Quakes leader who refused to wave one of our Checkered flags when I offered her one and then her son was sporting a FC Frisco hooded jacket right in the middle of all our Orange. So some dude up in Dallas thought it just fine to inject our crazy ass section with some folks and kids that had zero concept of what to expect in there and zero desire to support the Orange colors.
The difference between 97/00 and now is that DCU had a like 10,000 thousand more seats available in the lower bowl (remember that an entire section of seats is gone because of the baseball set up). There is no North End. K
Word is (DC tickets sales) that NE motored past 1,000 at around 5pm yesterday, essentially taking up the entire "MLS visiting supporter section", and the on-going sale of NE seats are now being loaded up top in the 500 sections.
