Ok, I hate ticketmaster --- the promotion is still on (buy 3 get 1 free, code = goles). You can get it on the ticketmaster website (type in 1 free ticket and 3 tickets under promotion line) but you don't really get the best available unless you call them on the phone... you can still get the offer by the phone.

Anyway, after much thought and realizing this could be a christmas gift, I bought the tickets.

    I voted for DeRosario.:)

I figure he'll win the vote. Still would like to see Pat and DeRo go, but we'll see.

It'll be nice to update the website with current news. According to Glenn's blog the event has been postponed to Saturday, July 5th.

    "
FREE KICK MASTERS event has been moved to July 5th due to European schedules, in fact this date makes more sense."

Anyone know where this information is coming from ? I see it on glenndavissoccer.com, but that seems to be the sole source of the date switch. Where's the media group gal/guy when you need them ? We need clarification !!!

Cowering in fear after f'ing up the FKM and wondering how they are going to justify a 7 month wait.

Here was my question to Glenn, posted on his website: "I've checked all the possible > websites (bigsoccer.com, FKM.com, etc.) and I see nothing regarding the 7-month move/delay except on THIS website. What gives ? Where did this information come from ????"

And his response back to me (you'll have to forgive his grammar/syntax problems): "From their promoters, the event July 5th was changed due to European schedules. ~Glenn."

I don't know about ya'll, but I'm feeling a little duped here. Forgetting my initial disbelief that an event of this magnitude would come to a MLS city without a soccer-specific stadium (but with a town with a team that vamoosed San Jose in the dead of night, packing up their kit bags in a U-Haul), would come the weekend before Christmas (shouldn't these guys be on holiday ?), would initially be MLS ex-clusive, had little to no promotion involved (with 6 weekes before the event, it was only sporadically being mentioned in the local press), and like a dagger in my heart, had Ticketmaster offering a "buy 3 get 1" promotion to generate interest, I feel rightfully pissed. One of the big draws was "Zidane is gonna play !" - well hell, at this point, if ZZ participates in July '08, it will be roughly 2 years since his infamous headbutt and subsequent retirement.

No mention of ticket refunds ? My money, which has been tied up in those four tickets sitting in my desk drawer, could have been better spent invested in Countrywide stock than in those four pieces of 2x6 inch pieces of paper that may, ultimately, have little to no value come 07-2008.

I can understand that feeling. I also have to add that the original date seemed a little strange to me as there would still be games to be played in Europe. This date seems better as it is the week after Euro 08 is over. Of course some of the participants may not be standing by that point, but that is a risk you take. Sorry, hope they will do something to make it up to you.

Having dealt with Ticketmaster, I doubt they'll give a refund unless the event is canceled, period. Otherwise you just have to hold onto 'em. I was actually lookin forward to the December date as it'd be a great outing with my family for X-Mas

    :(

    Now who knows?

LOL "unforseen"? How is scheduling event during the time when leagues ALWAYS play unforseen?

July is a much better date. I can't believe they thought they would get away with that date in December. Though I wonder if all the original people will still be doing it with the change in date.

dammit. i thought we had killed-off the Free Kick Masters.

its one of the stupidest/lamest ideas i have ever heard of.....almost as useless as a friendly between Dynamo and a touring/disinterested EPL team.

I of course meant "reschedule, only to cancel later"...let's see, Glenn broke the news of rescheduling in a blog post on 10/29, should have taken the under. The new alleged date is 7/5/08, new over/under for cancelling it for good is May 10.

heeheehee...would rep ya if I could.

I wouldn't be suprised if they move/cancel this thing because of low ticket sales. I go to a lot of soccer stuff and I know a lot of people from school that do. None of them are going to this. They would much rather see US v Mexico.

If they want to make money, a summer matchup between Liverpool and Chivas Guadalajara will draw a huge crowd.
