Old one got way over 500 posts. I would just like to start this thread by saying I am an unabashed Radiohead fanboy. There you have it.
First reply! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GWJC1P15 Beastie Boys' cover of The Beatles' "I'm Down", which was cut form Licensed to Ill because they were not licensed to sample The Beatles. Probably officially released somewhere, oh well.
I was in a devilish mood the other day and bought my mother a piece of Friulano (cheese) that cost that amount, hehe, couldn't resist... : p Think Control will be in so called "normal" cinemas?
I don't know about "normal" cinemas. I guess it did open in NYC yesterday. Dr. Know, you goin'? Anyone else have movie theaters that serve alcohol? It's a brilliant thing.
Why yes! Got one a half-mile from my pad. Serves pizza and beer, and discounted tickets for second-run movies.
Anyone here like Cafe Tacuba? Their new album is pretty good. Get it Here They put on a really good live show and they're going to start touring the US soon.
I've heard of them, but have never had a chance to listen to their music. I'm a huge Ozomatli fan and everyone tells me if I like them, then I will like Cafe Tacuba.
Haven't heard the new album, but i'll definitely give it a listen. What's the lead singer calling himself now? I think my favorite song by them is Avientame, which they did for the Amores Perros soundtrack. I remember they also had one of their songs (Eo) in a FIFA game, maybe FIFA 05 or 06, so if you have that you may have heard them without realizing it. They're great though. I have nothing but respect for them. Unfortunately, I lost pretty much all of my Cafe Tacuba music when my old hard drive went down. Lost all my Molotov too, which I haven't even thought about until now. You should probably check them out too, if you haven't already. Man, I have a lot of digging to do to rebuild my music collection... Here's a Molotov song that got a lot of play a few years ago:
I have no clue but now he's wearing a funny hat like in their new video: His name is Ruben. I've actually talked to him for a while a few years ago and he's a cool guy. Yeah Eo is off their last album called "Cuatro Caminos" which is excellent. It got great reviews throughout the US music press. The good thing about them is that they constantly change their sound and have covered many genres. Like a Latin American Beck though the music is not the same. They're probably the most important band in the history of "rock en español" along with Soda Stereo. Both have release the best albums imo.
Opens here on Friday. I'm going! We have one that serves food/drink service to your seat (a long table runs along the front of every row). It's a legend for its programming as well, including the Harry Knowles Butt-numbathon 24 straight hours of whatever he makes you watch...if you're lucky enough to be picked to be in the audience. Not a huge fan of Cafe Tacvba. I like them because I'm supposed to, they're cool guys & all, but I really don't.
I dunno yet. I really don't go to the cinemas that much unless they give me free tickets or something.
Yeah I get free tickets for advanced screenings all the time but it's usually mayor studio stuff. It's rarely independent movies. And I usually don't go since I'm not inclined to see crap like "The Kingdom". But I have tickets for a screening of the new Robert Redford movie next week. I might go to that. I dunno.
I'm up in LA tonight to go see The Pipettes, and I just saw in the paper that Pogues are playing with Ted Leo & The Pharmacists at the Wiltern. Cheap seats are only 10 measly bucks!!
Frenchy pop, some Hardy for Henry if you will. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y7FCQR7X Françoise Hardy - La question
Thanks Monty. I'm fresh out of rep. She's someone I always make a point to listen to, but never end up getting around to it. Until now.
Interesting album, thanks for uploading it. I had never heard of mademoiselle Hardy before. I'll up something in that same frenchy vein a little later. For now there's this: http://www.mediafire.com/?2y2g5g0ldsy
... and for the Francophiles, he's the Serge Gainsbourg album to which I referred earlier in the thread. http://www.mediafire.com/?6nldnciymm0
is anyone going to Hard NYE in LA this year? My friends (royal rumble) are going on right before Justice.
