    Thank you, IVES!

Yes, once again, "Wynal-doh", has done a Homer Simpson and put his left cleat in his TMJ trap.

His "California" quip (as the Fire sec. 8 fans lit a flare/smoke screen) once again proved just how much this guy loves the to hear himself talk.

I would readily rather listen to Cobi (who I've never heard before) than this self-absorbed, insecure clown(MLS journey-man career and would have about the same impact as Taylor Twellman in today's US Nats Team-which is probably why he has such a man-crush on TT).

Finally, ESPN/ABC realizes it needs to have less "commentary" and professionalism in their broadcasts in 2008. Let the match speak for itself!

I would rather have Hopkins and Big Ray as the ideal commentary duo...not gonna happen though.

    Cheers!

I think Ives is reaching. Sure it was a semi-dumb comment, but Waldo wasn't trying to mock the Californians that are having a bad time out there. Thats obvious.

    This is vapor-news.

If you actually read the comments, you'll get the feeling that Ives is holding the minority opinion on this one.

But let's not stop the OP from cherry-picking information.

Timing might have been poor. But, come one, the people really concerned about the fires would probably not have been watching any of the sports on tv last night anyway and would have been trying to help out those displaced in some way.

    Give me a break.

Interesting that Ives is so quick to pull the knife out. Does he have a bad history with Waldo? Is it appropriate for a journalist to lobby for another jounalist to be fired?

This would be dead today if not for Ives blog entry.

I don't think Wynalda is a very good announcers, but Ives is making something out of absolutely nothing in this case. And anyone is better than Lalas. He sucks worse in the booth than he does as GM. He's already destroyed two clubs; isn't that enough evil for one lifetime?

I watched the game but didn't even notice that comment. I am in SO Cal surronded by fires and I don't thinks a big deal, it was true as a matter of fact. When did the USA become some pussified ?

Lets get a class action suit against ESPN/ABC/MLS and Waldo surely we'll be able to find 1000s of scumbags lawyers ready to file it in hopes of a big payday.

I think it started back in 02' when a bunch of dudes lobbied for equal rights on ladies nights.

The movement towards the pussification of America has been gaining strength ever since.

Political correctness run amok! Ives is obviously out of real news if he's making a "story" out of this. Waldo's comment was cleary NOT mocking or flippant in any way. The inflection in his voice was lamenting to me.

Ives should go back to trying to report the news. And stop trying to make it. After all, he doesn't really have the best track record this year now does he?

In England we don't have anyone like this at all, so I'm loving Wynalda every time I hear him on air :D

He seems like a total legend for you guys, on and off the pitch

    Hardly...maybe in his own mind...

People, the issue isn't this ONE comment. The issue isn't whether there is any beef between IVES and Wynalda.

Heavens know this is NOT just ONE instance from our beloved ADHD US Nat, man-child...which if you really listen sounds like a "EPL FanZone", high-schoolish color commentary...

The issue is Wynalda (god help him) doesn't know how, wasn't trained professionally, to do what he does on a professional, informative level.

The dude was still stalking after the play-by-play guy was yelling "match over!".

Not every ex-professional athlete, (ask Joe Montana) is cut out for being a professional color analyst. That's why MNF eventually had to let singin' Dan to go in the pasture and give the more "POLISHED" Frank Gifford the reins.

As the MLS becomes more exposed/accepted/professional on par w/ the rest of the world, the least we can do is expect the same from their broadcasts on all networks televising their matches.

Otherwise, let the the Professional Wrestling commentary continue...

Sounds like 4mybroRRT has his own agenda, found a completely unrelated blog post and just hung on for dear life.

Of course no one can excuse what he did. That said, I really did like that trademark hooded sweashirt look he pulled off.

I don't see what the f-ing deal is. Wildfires in SoCal are like Hurricanes in Florida - we're used to them.

That said, Wynalda could profit from any firing. I'm sure Fox Soccer Channel would be up for a bad-boy "Jim Rome of Soccer" having a 60 minute show on twice a week.

Good. He sucks as an announcer. Replace him with Craig Forrest. Glen Davis and Craig Forrest would be a great pair.
