Lets get a stamford gooner group going.... im going to Tigin this saturday to watch the derby... anybody else? if your from CT also, post...
Man I haven't made it there this season yet. I'm trekking down to Nevada's to see it instead. Maybe next game.
Im in Wallingford. 830's a little early for me to head to the pub on a saturday (esp after what I plan to drink friday night ) so Ill be watching from the comfort of my couch. If you're ever up New Haven way though, check out Anna Liffey's on Church Street. They've always showed the games, but now theyre trying to start a sort of viewer's club thing w/ prizes, raffles, drink specials, and everything. Cool place to watch a match, and killer brunches!
I'll be watching from my couch for this one as well! But I usually end up down there for PPV matches. I know NorthBank74 goes down there too. FabregasTED - can you keep us updated on the Anna Liffey's situation? If it is good, I might venture down there. I'd definately like to get some sort of CT branch going if possible. It's always good to meet other gooners in the area. But so far, everyone in CT I've contacted are from all over the place, Essex to Stamford, NH to Hartford.
If someone happens to confirm w/ Tigin that they're showing our match, please post it here. I might possibly make it down there if they do. (I'm in Norwalk) Have to play it by ear though. From what I saw of the schedule on http://www.tiginirishpub.com around the same time as Arsenal there are 2 other EPL matches, 2 SPL & 2 Rugby WC.
But this is a derby! If there was a pub here I'd defo be at a pub. I was supposed to be in Houston tomorrow and was going to stay over so I could hit Richmond Arms to be with other Gooners, but my meeting was canceled.
Already the CT branch of AA is off to a sluggish start! Actually, we just support remotely. We all get together via video conference and talk about the match from our couches! Northbank - just called Tigin's, they will be open at 7:45 and be showing the match. Breakfast starts at 10.
i called tigin myself, and asked... he told me that they were showing it... im guessing there wont be THAT many people there, hopefully anyway. as long as i can get a small TV to watch it with my friend, im good. but ill deff call again saturday morning before making it down there... JC ps-northbank, if ur do go, let me know
It's usually not too busy for the early games. They'll probably have it on the big screen in back. But they are definately showing it, I confirmed this afternoon.
Thanks for all the confirm's guys. I'm still thinking about it but I won't decide until the AM. If you see me you see me. (I'll have my red JVC shirt on)
Someone got bad info from Tigin I'm afraid. Went. Paid $2 for pkg. Went in at 8:30. No match on. They said "after the rugby ends"... "oh, and we won't be able to show the end of the match after 10am either". I should've known. In fact I did suspect this was iffy given the overall schedule this morning... should've verified myself by calling. Anyway now I'm back home, having missed the first 15 and the dream goal by Bale. We need to pick up the pressure now!
Sorry about that! I called Friday morning and they said they would have the match on. With all the tvs they couldn't put it on? That is total BS.
Missed this earlier - we should do something. Thing for me is I do not drive (medical over-reaction from DMV)Its a trick to get into New York even. But we should at least communicate more regularly and set something up...
Definately. If people want to PM me your names, locations and email, I'll collect them and try to put something together at a central location. Also send me any suggestions for places, dates, etc.
I was told by the manager there that they could only show 2 feeds at one time. I don't know if that's a techincal limitation or just that they want to have all TV's in each room showing the same thing. And they only really have the 2 rooms that I know of: front & back. That said, IMO Tigin is a good place to watch footy. Playwright in Stamford also used to be good but they closed so Tigin has taken over. I was surprised that I was the only Gooner showing up at 8:30 to watch the NLD, but then maybe they were smarter than I was by staying home. I've always tried to find a place in Norwalk that would show the games but I've never really found a place. And if they did, there probably wouldn't be much of a crowd compared to Stamford.
yeah, not much in Norwalk. O'Neils in Sono doesn't even have FSC! They only show CL matches on the deuce. I think Tigin's might be the place of choice. Haven't heard anything more about Anna Liffey's in NH.
Not me. I had an emergency eye doctor visit. Still dealing w/ that. Did they make you pay since it was Setanta?
No, they usually don't ask you to pay, especially if you are getting food which I usually do. Maybe for the 7am matches when the kitchen isn't open they might. But even then, I've never been charged a cover.
so does anyone have a heads up allready on where the Arsenal/ManU game will be aired live? i wont be home till the 1st so i wanna have it figured out thanks
I think the game is on at 12:45 which would make it 7:45 here but the clocks go back in England this week so that may affect our game next week as well. 8:45 would be fine by me.
This start time was discussed in the TV thread. I think 8:45 was the consensus, right? Anyway, I'm toying w/ Tigin's although it's damn early! I expect we'd be outnumbered... all the reason to go I guess. Who's thinking of going? How about you SF Gooner... haven't seen you in quite awhile!
