The thing is sumo is overlooked outside of Japan.
    Nobody really cares about Sumo.

    True.
I know of very few people who became sumo fans who didn't live here for a bit. I started to like it when I first came to Japan in March 1958.

However, as far as the present brouhaha is concerned, a few heads will roll, but the Kyokai will find a way to let the scandal die a slow death and they will then go on as if nothing ever happened. I'd bet on it.

The top-to-bottom cleanup that the Kyokai needs will not happen.

I remember watching a documentary on these Japanese kids who bullies non-Japanese students (Mostly Koreans, Chinese, Brazilians, Peruvians, Ainu, Filipinos).

Yaeh, the problem of bullying in Japan is deep and profound
