Was posted in the 10/14 news thread;)

I'm sure plenty of people will want to discuss it though, so it's own thread might be nice, up to the mods though.

Yeah, I saw that after I had posted. A mod can probably delete this.

Re: Twellman Added to US Roster for Switzerland Match

Twellman needs to step up his game to be noticed for the Nats. Luckily he has little competition when it comes to true strikers, but he this doesn't mean that he is any better then the other few options that Bob Bradley has.

The Nats NEED a true striker, someone who'll poach the goal. I think Twellman and Johnson are the best options. Unfortunately Dempsey and Landon also find themselves in the striker pool which I just can't stand!

I know that Dempsey is getting allot of striker training with Fulham, and that he has been scoring but that only proves that he should be an AM. He's creative and he find the back of the net. AM is his god given position and playing him anywhere else is just wrong.

Landon is the same story, but I think he can play virtually anywhere in the midfield. LM, RM, CM, AM, maybe not DM, but Dempsey can play AM while LD fills in some other spot.

My point is that I hate how we have to force our best midfielders into the striker position. If Twellman can step up his game and show that he can actually finish the chances that come to him (which has been a problem for him recently) then the Nats will improve ALOT cause they can fill that striker spot with a striker rather then taking talent out of the midfield.

Come on Taylor, find the back of the net!

Twellman does well against the northern European sides, so I have a feeling he'll do well. I'd start Altidore and whoever over him though, give him a kick in the pants ya know?

As much as I like Twellman, I'm afraid he's probably already blown his chance at becoming a consistent player for the nats. He's getting to the age where they'll probably look for younger options. Hopefully I'm wrong though, here's to hoping he plays and has a big game. Was wondering why BB didnt take Parkhurst in as well, what does this guy have to do to get capped more?

TnT is in the starting line-up. Up front with Demps. So, guess he won't be starting on Saturday.

Why is Eddie Lewis starting? What purpose does he serve? He's not even starting for the worst team in England's top flight.

    -------------Hahnemann---------------
    -----------Onyewu--Bocanegra-------
    -Cherundolo--------------------Lewis-
    -----------------------------------------
    ------------Edu-----Bradley-----------
    --Benny---------------------Beasley--
    -----------------------------------------
    --------Dempsey------Twellman-------

No clue how the midfield is supposed to look, that's just my guess. Also, I don't like Twellman starting, but at least he's with Dempsey, they play well together.

Altidore and Adu better get some ****ing time! WHY IS LEWIS EVEN ON THE TEAM!!!

[EDIT] Can anyone tell me why we have four keepers as well? He needs to stop calling up guys like Califf and Twellman and give the young guys a chance.

I agree with Ives Galarcep on why we have four keepers:

Hmm, I suppose. I still think anyone over 30 is deserving of a spot, our youth is just going to get old, never get any experience and fade away.

Twellman will have a bad game because he's had what...two days to practice, and everyone will cry about how he is terrible and shouldn't be on the national team. In my opinion he should have came on off the bench.

    Beasley down early.

    Beasley has no right foot...

Pretty god play from Edu and Twellman so far, very composed and "European". Seems as if Nicol and Mo have worked their style into those players, nice to see that as opposed to the "run around like a chicken with it's head cut off" strategy we've had for years.

That cross from Beasley was pretty good IMO. He lofted it right over the keeper. If anyone had been crashing the far post, it would've been perfect. Unfortunately, no one was doing that so the cross was wasted.

USA has definitely been the more attacking side so far. I honestly can't say I've seen much out of Twellman so far, good or bad.

    And everyone else;)

So far I think Dempsey's doing all the running and passing and such, Twellman's doing all the off the ball stuff (how many times has he charged free balls he had no chance at getting just for pressure?)

Edu's been pretty good. The idea of seeing him and Parkhurst on the pitch at the same time is poppin' one.

I would assume yes. I hope Bease is ok. He's been on fire with Rangers.

Things have definitely changed. It's been all Swiss the last 15 minutes. USA is having trouble developing anything.

It's not really like Switzerland has been threatening or anything. They're just definitely controlling the game IMO.

Ok, I know I'm not that bad of a homer, that was a deliberate shoulder check on Gooch right?

These last 10 minutes have been exciting, nothing else really to talk about. I'd take off Dempsey and Twellman at the half for Altidore and Adu, everything else is pretty solid.
