Don Garber and other MLS executives have publicly stated SSS with a smaller capacity to control tickets sales better.

As for the hater statement, think for one moment, how can you be an MLS/soccer fan in America and not support Seattle expansion or any other MLS expasion for that matter? If the league will expand by two clubs by 2009 and you have three in the running for 2009, it simply means one will be shorted out of a bid.

The requirements are for an expansion bid, you must have 1. a plan for a SSS to be built with in two years of expansion and 2. have a SSS built already...Philly and St Louis both could play in NFL stadiums in their own cities now or in 2008, 2009, but to get a bid they needed to meet league requirements first.

Of the three expansion clubs, one will not get a bit for 2009, assuming Seattle gets one of the bids, that means someone is left out in the cold! This is the argument of Philly and St. Louis, so were is the hate coming from?

Even on another thread under Seattle, the poll is in favor of a SSS in Seattle by Seattle fans...have a look for your self: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=609741

My points have been made here already, I'm moving to the next topic!

Yes, please move on because your points are nothing but a bunch of rubbish. They have been refuted over and over but you refuse to listen because you are so fixated on your own small minded view.

You should worry about supporting your own team and put all your angst and energy into expaning your markets fan base by evangelizing the game and league to folks that are not converted.

When your team sells out and oppertates at 95% capcity then maybe you should worry about us, fill the empty seats in your own stadium Qwest is going to work out just fine for the fans and the league. I recommend withholding judgement until the team actually plays a season there.

I have a difficult time believing that most of the people voting on that other thread are actually Seattleites or Seattle fans. But that's just a gut feeling.

Your intelligence are reflective through your writings, there isn't anything to refute here, things are what they are and there isn't hate for Seattle. This isn't a totalitarian site controled by a dictator, if you are looking for people to agree with your every posting, go to the Communist site for that! Welcome to the big leagues now, this is Bigsoccer MLS where you'll encounter posters not that nice at times... Thanks for your interesting view points and welcome to the MLS Seattle, when it becomes more official by the league.

Oh you want to insult my intelligence???, Nice... I will pit my intelligence against yours and most people on this board any day. :)

I have posted many times on this board for the last 2 months as to Why Seattle is prime for a team and why Qwest will work. You are willing to shift your paradighm and be open minded to look at the Seattle market and stadium plan wholistically. You are fixated on your opinion and are not willing to be open minded. I will say it again, I have looked at the situation from all angles and in my opinion, your points are stilll rubish. You have your opinion and I have mine.

I am not going to change your mind and I am not going to change yours. End of conversation. If it makes you feel better to have the last word then go ahead and reply to my post. I am sure you will have no new insights to offer that have not been posted add nauseum already.

Look Mr. Grego, you seem to be a marginally intelligent person. I see the problem here to be a comprehension issue, I have clearly discussed the issue of why it is perceived by many here that people are hating on Seattle as it eluded in the title of this thread. I went to explain the issue, that people may have with the expansion based on the leagues requirements set for expansion. That is all, I haven't viewed any opinion of my dis-liking of Qwest field nor have I given any impression of not wanting Seattle to join the MLS, in fact as a fans of the league and the sport here in North America, it makes me very happy to see growth within the league as I am sure many league supporters feel the same as I do. I can strongly assure you that your fight is not with me, and your argument with me is pointless. As I stated many times before, I am a supporter of the Seattle expansion and expansion in general in the MLS, it's a sign of growth for the league we all support. I hope my point was clear and comprehensible for you to understand this time! I am also glad to see that you've been busy on these boards for the last two months congratulations, I've been here since 2004 and also have many postings. Your fight is else where, I am not disputing any of your arguments about Seattle joining the league nor am I challenging your blissful pleasure with Qwest field. If you are looking for a war, go to Afghanistan or Iraq...take a chill pill man, there is more to life!

The bottom line here is that MLS has shown with this decision vis a vis Seattle and Qwest that their bottom line is money and profit. Thats a good thing for a business to have as a bottom line but it is not necessarily in line with what the fans interests may be.

If you look at SSS alot of soccer fans really love them because of their size, sightlines, closeness to the pitch and that general feeling that it is a stadium for OUR sport.

MLS loves them because they mean 100% revenue to the club.

Something tells me that if every MLS club could play in existing football stadiums and make healthy profits - there wouldnt be a single SSS in the country right now.

IF Seattle can turn a profit and have reasonable control over scheduling and concessions - Garber can care less where it is. Image is secondary.

I, for one, have alot of concerns about Qwest because it will always be SEAHAWKS stadium. I remain highly doubtful that there will actually be grass installed and I remain even more doubtful abolut the assurances of football lines being removed in the fall. Something just tells me that when push comes to shove the Seahawks wont be arsed.

It is not personal. You make some good points. I may not agree but I respect where you are coming from. If I seem a litltle cranky it is just because I am so tired of the same old anti-Qwest posts that all seem to say the same thing. The Sounders supporters have been going back and forth with these folks defending our right to have a team and why (in our opinion) Qwest is going to work.

Sometimes, I do get carried away here. I am a pasionate Sounders fan and sometimes I read some of these posts and it just pushes my buttons and I go off.:)

You seem like a well spoken person and have done a great job articulating your position even if I am not in agreement with it.

The fact is, everyone on these boards, is passionate about our teams, our prospective teams, wanting the MLS to succeed and we love our footy! which is why we come on these boards what we have in common is more important than our differences.

    Peace,

    Sincerely, :)

Greg, I respect your view points aswell, but the most important thing is that you and all of us here are fans of the sport and passionatly want to see it grow here in North America. I respect your passion as a fan, I think our sport needs more passionate American fans such as yourself. Again, welcome to Bigsoccer and the MLS and much success to your club in Seattle.

Wow, I know Qwest Field is intimate, but I never thought it would have this effect on people.

Paul, I think we are seeing the first glimpse of your suppressed desires. I guess you are really a San Franciscan by heart and trapped in Seattle! Very creative stuff,I guess it's the artistic side of you, I smirked! Keep the passion, good joke...

Right on brother. I couldn't agree more. I have supported the Sounders since 74' and have played on and off most of my life. I love the game so much. (I am still playing).

We in Seattle have been waiting a long time to have another top flight team in our city. We are going to do everything that we can to evangelize the game our team and make sure that this team is successful as well as make sure the team and organization represents our city and makes other fans and MLS proud.

We have come a long way as a soccer nation and it is fans like us and newer fans that will keep the game as well MLS growing.

Sometimes we may have different of ideas of what is best for the league but the fact that we care and that we all want the league to succed is really the important thing.

Thank you for the kind words! Vive le futbol! :)

Bright or Paul, have been around since 2000 on these boards. He is a very knowledgeable Seattle soccer fan, his posting are usually backed with lots of facts. To tick him off you just have to post something with out facts, or make a blanket statement about a topic He was just being funny today and he wanted us to know that he does have a liter side. He is a passionate Sounder fans!

I hope MLS and the Seattle ownership group release the exact specifics of their agreement, no rent, parking, concessions, merchandise, etc..... to everone, so that other cities don't use the Qwest exception for their argument to use another large "football" stadium. (yes i know Qwest was built for soccer as well). I don't think most are against Qwest, just need to see that it is a suitable facility and they make it enjoyable for soccer fans, ie, no football lines, etc...?

I do think that Qwest is going to work great providing certain things are done to maximize the experience.

I agree, as a fan and as a future season ticket holder, I would like to have total transparency. As a customer, it is important that proper expectations are set with not only Seattleites but MLS fans from other cities. We do have to remember that even thought it will be our team other fans from other cities should also have a positive experience when viewing the games on TV.

The only draw back to Qwerst is the size. Other than that, there are no bad seats, at least that I have found so far.
