Nice vid, but check out that line up, 9 defensive "minded" players Oswaldo included and two forwards, anyone can be a "great" strategist playing with nine men behind the ball.........

And about the original question I go for country, but by a small bit, I love my aguilas but Mexico is Mexico........

Loving your club more doesnt mean the NT isnt that much of Important to one!

but look at you guys that say NT over club, after a win by the NT you guys start to talk about your club players how they perform!

example: Mexico Vs. Ecuador back in march!

you guys forget that they play for the NT and start saying shit like "oh, our club players performed better than all the players from the other clubs."

i just ask warent they call up to play their best. they considered them to be playing good when they were call up!

face it most of you are Club over NT! including me!

but with out a doubt i will be cheering every Mexican Player that wears "La Verde!!!"

I was born in Torreon and lived there the first six years of my life. I love santos to the death my my nation comes before all. I see santos play when ever I go down to torreon, but nothing compares to the national team.

We in Mexico are lucky that our clubs hold Seleccion > Club unlike in England, Spain, America etc..... So if your own club chooses the national team, why wouldnt you?

most people in Mexico, in the US or on these boards dont choose club over country. When Pachuca or Chivas, or America make it to a international tournament most of us cheer for them. Not because we like the mofos, but because they are Mexican.

    no they don't.

if they did, there wouldn't be all those crap foreigners and it'd be easier for the players to go overseas.

I chose club. I am from Torreon and I love Santos more than any other team. I get more into the games when Santos Laguna is playing than when Mexico plays. I have always been able to watch Santos and I watched them before I ever had the chance to watch Mexico play. Also, I have never suffered as much with a football team as I did with Santos having problems with relegation last season. Now just because I chose club over country doesn't mean I am not patriotic. I love Mexico and our beautiful culture but football means more to me than politics, nationality, etc. I will still cheer for our national team but Santos is the one team that I have always had and have always supported.

    this is not about Patria!

if it was, how many could tell me that the first thing they do when they wake up is sign the national anthem?

How can you relate Futbol to patriotism?

just cuz they are representing Mexico doesn't mean its patriotic!

it represents the best players of a certain area!

we aren't going to war or some shit like that!

    Patria is something different!

como el abanderado de los juegos olympicos! cuando el atleta recibe la bandera del presidente!

lo unico que veo de patria en el futbol es cuando saludan a la bandera cantando el himno nacional!

the rest just means how good our soccer players really are!

what would a World Cup mean to Mexico? seriously like what good would it bring to the country?

i guarantee you that by Mexico winning it wont help the insecurity go. away!

    It's a pseudo war.

That's why the WC is the biggest show on earth.

If you want to remain oblivious to that, then so be it.

It may have lost some of it's luster with so many naturalizados playing merc, but make no mistake, it's war!

do you know whats the meaning of that?

pretending to be a war is ridiculous!

    its a competition nonetheless!

but i asked a question what good would a world cup bring mexico as a country?

i decline to further post on this thread if i cant get my point across!

Well, I have to ask, what good does it do club america to win a championship? Sure they may make some money because they've got mad fans going glory hunting, but....what do you as a fan have to gain? Really...what do you have to gain by them winning?

    Answer me!

You live vicariously through them and most of them don't even represent your blood.

Make no mistake. The WC is about who are the baddest motherfackers on the planet at a certain point in time in this sport. It sure as hell beats bombing everyone, don't you think?

    It's war cabron!

I just said that futbol is not about patria. and you changed it as how futbol could be pretended as war!!

why did you evade my questions?

the only thing i see patriotic in a Futbol match is when they pay respect to the flag by singing the national anthem!

like i said in an earlier post, most people here care more about their team wether they come out and say or not!

a good eample is in the Mexico vs. Ecuador game thread the one played in March in Oakland!

Mexico wins and people start talking about how better the players from their club were as to the rest of the teams players in the seleccion!!

    Is that patria?

Maybe for you el tri doesn't have anything to do with la madre patria but by your logic we wouldn't have a problem rooting for other countires like the U.S. or El Salvador since our national team doesn't have anything to do with our patria. The world cup may not be "war" but when you hear the national anthem during the world cup and you don't get goose bumps then there is something seriously wrong with you. Of course people will talk about the role the players from there favourite clubs have in el tri, that's just normal, especially for teams like chivas and america who supply the national team the most. Toluca does not have any player on the national team right now, which is somewhat upsetting for me, but they do have Da Silva for Paraguay and Vicente Sanchez for Uruguay. I am happy for them and their accomplishments but I won't ever root for their teams over Mexico. Futbol has everything to do about patria because if it did not we wouldn't have a big problem with foreigners like guille franco being on the team. El Tri above everything else....

What other league in the world gave their national players a whole month to prepare for the world cup? Look at the Premiere leauge where Mcclaren is gpoing to war with liverpoole over steven gerard.

Having foreigners doesnt mean the mexican clubs dont support the national team, it means they are not xenophobic bitches. If Mexican players dont go overseas that is not the clubs problem, they are clubs not charities.

it's not about liking foreigners or not.

it's about a foreigner being real cheap and being able to sell him for more than a mexican.

it's true that clubs aren't charities, but most place price tags on players that no one will pay. so would you say it's the player's fault for being an overpriced mexican?

as far as the month before the cup, that's nice, but the clubs look out for themselves first.

For me it doesnt i may have better ways to prove my patria to my beloved country instead of showing it on futbol!

I did not say this! i just said the only thing patriotic about futbol is when they pay respect to the flag by singing the Nationa Anthem. i asked it before! what good would a Worldp cup bring to Mexico as a whole? i guarantee that a World Cup wont make the insecurity go away!

who said i dont get those "goosebumps" like i said i would cheer for any player wearing "La Verde."

    Is this Patria?

Like i said i dont know how Patria can be related to futbol!

just because it was chosen to be competitions by nations doesnt mean its patria!

it just represents the better players from a certain region!

    you guys blew it up!

lol, I got a neg rep from someone(not gonna say who it is) who thinks I'm a "fake Americanista" for preferring Chivas to win over D.C. tonite. The key word is "preferring." I don't go out and buy a Chivas jersey and root for them but I won't root against them either.

Anyone else do the same...? Or did every Americanista fan prefer D.C. to win?
