FT!!! Woot! Lets hope it's not serious, awesome result and great game by Beasley. Now Adu needs to get in and score tomorrow to complete the BS meltdown...:)

Why would Liverpool (or ManU) need DMB in camp for a tryout to decide whether they want him or not? It is not like they have never seen him play in EPL.

How good are the Rangers? I guess we find out against Barcelona, but they seem to be deep, play well as a team, and find a way to score.

If Beasley is perceived as a Man City reject, it isn't for a lack of quality, since he showed plenty there. More likely it would be for his inability to stay healthy for very long during his stint there.

First off, I don't buy that in this day and age there is a bias against Yanks in the Premiership. It is such a competitive environment that managers can't afford to have biases. Plus, there are enough Yanks in good standing in the EPL that managers ought to have plenty of good examples.

Also, with players like Pennant and Babel, Liverpool has plenty of speed on the wings.

I'm not sure Beasley would be able to supplant someone like Pennant.

Good grief. How could I have forgotten about Babel? He is an unreal talent. The Dutch pipeline is insane. Sneijder, Drenthe, Babel, Huntelaar......jeez.

32 shots for Lyon w/o a goal. I don't think I have ever seen a pro game with that many.

I think DMB would have fit in nicely with the new Man City but he is having some fun at Rangers so good for him.

If anyone has TVU Player the Rangers manager is being interviewed on Star Sports now.

Commentators marvelling about how "Rangers took them apart".

Just watched the highlights in French, via www.sopcast.com and searching for "Rangers"; nice goal by Beez, running into open space on the right with the assist coming from the left beyond the midstripe, gathered the long ball (and I mean long) with his right foot, beating his mark scotted left and with his left slid it under the GK who was moving to his right.
However it looked to me like the MOM in this game were the posts. At least on the French highlights there were 5? shots that hit the pole...amazing. Got to love it.

It's top two advance to champions league knockout stage... 3rd goes to the UEFA Cup first round knockout stage and 4th goes home with nothing but a shitload of TV revenue.

Beasley's goal is reminiscent of the one he scored a few years ago with PSV in the CL. I can't remember who it was against, but Cocu sent a perfect ball for DFB, who did a similar number, only from the opposite side of the goal, running past the goalie to his right (iirc) before slotting it home.

I believe that the goal occasioned a long discussion about the quality of Beasley's first touch as some posters claimed it could have been "better."

I think Cocu's pass was a little better than today's play. Without taking anything away from Beasley at all, it has to be said that Lyon's defense was horrible on that particular play. Again, not trying to diss Beasley in the least. He was truly clinical and did extremely well to make Lyon's defense pay for its laxity.

On that Daily motion clip you can hear the announcers saying "quelle erreur" over and over.
