(i'm going to bump a few of these threads since it's been a little slow in this section lately)

i mentioned some of these things in another thread, but here are some more color-related things:

    - michael's in overland park (or wherever) has a blue bandana that's almost right on the wizards' color, i washed mine in a bucket of water with like a capful of bleach and some detergent to fade it a little bit. i might buy a few more just for the hell of it.

    - we could probably make a lot of those tiny flags for even cheaper than what was proposed earlier... i say cheaper because the above suggestion is good if you plan to keep it, but i was thinking about making a bunch of them that are somewhat disposable to just hand out to as many people as possible. because trash is good.

    - what's up with those large streamers?

    - possible alternative to smoke bombs:

...plus blue fog dye. if that thing is battery operated, anyway.

i'm going to try to find that website with the flags later and post a list of flags that would work.

i personally kind of want these:
partially just because i do, partially because i could still probably use them for the game. and it'd be more regionally applicable than how some teams use Che Guevara... kind of like Ajax's "Joden!" chant, in a way. i'm ranting.

    flagpost 5000.

    http://stores.ebay.com/3x5Flags (cheapest i think)
    http://www.3x5flag.com
...there's always ebay. i got a couple flags for my house for like a dollar (before shipping) on ebay.

you may have a personal preference due to whatever ties or opinions you have about a nation or whatever, but here's a list of flags from that website that are blue enough... though i'm not sure what the point of this is.

    - Argentina
    - Aruba
    - Bahamas
    - Barbados
    - Bavaria
    - Bosnia-Herzegovina
    - Botswana
    - Canada (Quebec)
    - Conch Republic (Key West)
    - Congo (Democratic Republic of the)... but i think this flag is outdated.
    - El Salvador
    - Estonia
    - European Union
    - Finland
    - Greece
    - Guatemala
    - Honduras
    - Israel
    - Kazakhstan
    - Micronesia
    - NATO
    - Nauru
    - Nicaragua
    - Northern Marianas
    - Palau
    - Scotland
    - Somalia ...not sure if this flag is going to stay the same if we keep trying to get Ethiopia to conquer them.
    - Sweden
    - UN
    - Uruguay

i was thinking about getting the Botswana flag, for the way it looks, but i am not familiar enough with Botswana. i have a big KC (royals style) flag... i made a flagpole for it... it's like 10 ft long and i don't yet have the heart to cut the bottom few feet off of the pole for practicality.

i also may get this to hang from the wall:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/WIZARD-WALL-BAN...ryZ29800QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
    because it's CRUCIAL.

For a moment, I thought I had discovered the secret identity of long-time Wizards season ticket holder "Mr. Mullet." I believe strongly in your right to stand on your seat as you wave your fine flag, but you sir are no "Mr. Mullet."

Yeah, not sure who Mr. Mullet is but this forum has been kind of dead.

I'm not sure why really, but get an account for the kccauldron.com forums as well. We've been great in game this year noise-wise, but only so-so outside of it. I'm as much a part of that as anything, I was definitely burnt out a little from taking care of those flags every week last year. I was thinking we'd have done more of this stuff by now this year.

I'd love to get a TIFO project together for the Galaxy game when we'll have a lot of people watching.

It would be really sweet if we could crank out something like 100 or 200 Blue and white 3x5 flags. I have leftover fabric, but we also have the option of just buying them from a place like www.sevenbros.com (greatest flag store ever), and getting a bulk price. I called them, and it would be 2.39 per for premade solid color blue or white flag when you order 100. It would be cheaper for 200. With shipping it would be about 260 dollars total for 100 flags with no sweat involved.

I also still have some blue and white fabric left over I would be willing to donate to anyone who wants to make something. Find me tomorrow at the game if you'd like to do something like this.

Because of time and budget constraints, I'm moving ahead on a big bulk purchase of blue and white checkered flags that are available.

    Solid blue was not available.

With the traditional checkered goal flag and the big checkered flags we had from last year as well it should come out great. I'm still figuring out pole options, and timing, but right now the plan is to do it in the second half when everyone is there. Maybe 75th minute.

Actually I think Chivas had something very much like that at one of their recent games, only much larger. Of course TIFO displays of that size can only be done by ownership. No way could a grass roots supporters group organize some of the elaborate TIFO you see sometimes.

While something like this would be money we are short about 5000 people to make it happen.

This is from Sarejevo (pardon me if I mispelled it ), and they have no connections with the owners or the management of the club...they (the supporters) fight regularly with the owners and management...this flag/banner was done by the supporters, which would be like our cauldron but we are in no way like them. They will fight and die for their football team and have several different branches or divisions(SORT OF), that get together to go to games, make banners, and fight the owners (hooligans).

It's more like Section 8 in regards to multiple groups in one section. Your point about fighting the owners (hooligans) makes little sense, those two things have little in common. hooligans usually fight with supporters of other clubs, not their own.

That said, the Cauldron doesn't have enough people willing to donate the amount of money it would take per person to make one of those things.

That large Chivas USA flag was done completely by the supporters. A member of Legion 1908 came across a bunch of shiny fabric, and donated it. And here's the kicker - the monstrous red logo or whatever that is in the middle was done entirely by hand...with red Sharpies.

I believe Section 8 also paid for and designed their big flag, but it was done in Poland.

Good call but this isnt like EPL, this is more hard core hooligans that fight everyone and dont like the owners, at all...look em up..."Horde Zla"...and I wasnt saying the Cauldron could this or ask for the money to do this...all I was stating is wouldnt that be cool to have something like this and have the fan base to do so...but we are getting off the subject...

Instead of ripping you for spamming the boards, it seems like a much better reason to rip you for possibly selling your tickets because Beckham might not be there.

Why don't you just come to the game? It's not like you often have the chance to see a game with 30,000 other people, and there's no guarantee either way of what's going to happen. The Wizards are going to want to impress in front of such a crowd, and I expect a great game.

We should have enough color in the Cauldron tomorrow to satisfy everyone.

    70th minute.

    There is no Fight Club.

    Jeff

The flags were awesome last night. Thank you!

I am not sure how much of your own money or other people's money went into this, but if there is a fund I can donate to I will.

The flags were amazing. My daughter had two friends with her (all 11 year olds) and they had a blast waving those in the front row. They even listened to me and waved them kinda low so as not to obstruct the view.

Looking back from the front row the whole section filled with flags looked great. Huge kudos to you and whoever else helped pull this off (Robert? others?)

Big props to Jeff and Robert and everyone else who worked on this; the flags looked great!

Do we have any plans for the flags going forward? I was thinking this morning that we should do some display or something in the 11th minute of every game; since that is when we scored the game-winner in the MLS cup.

I know the idea was borrowed* from our friends north of the border, but I think its a cool idea....

One of the things I mentioned to Jeff was I would like to take a few of them over the off-season to "modify"...Add images/words to some of them...just to break up the visual so they are not all identical.

I thought they came out great, so thanks to everyone who could help. The Cauldron is going to reimburse me for a portion of it, but it came out to around 500 bucks.

Donations would be welcome. I don't mind doing the initial outlay, as it's kind of like an investment in the group. As long as we're careful with them, we should have those 150 or so flags for the next few years at least. I don't think we're going to want to bring them every game, but I think they should be at the important DC game coming up.

Speaking of which, does anyone have any ideas on how we can store these things? I purchased 2 rolling trash cans that seem to do the trick in making them easy to move. I'm more than willing to pick them up when we're going to use them and get them to the game, I just really don't have the space in my loft to store them. I might be able to find some room in an unsecured storage unit if I can't find anyone else with room for them.

It was also nice to see the player flags make an appearance after all the work we put in on those last year. Thanks to Robert for sewing those together into 40 and 30 foot strips.

I have 3 more blank ones to paint for new players we picked up for this year, but couldn't get them done for Thursday.

I have storage space for them. However, I do not have large enough vehicle to transport them to and from the games.
