    Good statement.

BTW, she has been playing on her page the continuous mp3 of "I Tried" featuring Akon by Bone Thugs N Harmony. Which I bet is much better than listening to our Ryan's "I don't know what I'm doing" greatest hits cd.

Re: Ryan basically trashes Hope today

Jim Rome is trashing Ryan for being the one to extend the olive branch to Solo. That Ryan should have said "I made the decision, I stand by it, and if she doesn't like it she knows where the door is" like a coach should. Then compared it to how Lou Piniella would have responded.

Ironic that that is the same address that Foudy's missives are posted from (the past). Sort of like Waldo in that everything used to be awesome (when they were playing) now things are just pretty good or sometimes not even that.

Re: Chastain, Foudy & Mia pissed is anyone listening?

Hamm, once the sport's biggest star, did not return a message left at her Southern California home, but Chastain said her close friend and ex-teammate expressed similar sentiments when the two spoke on Thursday.

"I was talking to Mia, and the whole thing makes us so sad," Chastain said. "We worked so hard to build something, and it feels like it's gone now. It was great to relive some of the reasons why our (previous) teams were successful. We really had to battle for our teams and our place, and that gives you a sense of camaraderie and pride. When we talked about this team – and I'm not blaming the players – we talked about a sense of entitlement."

Continuing on my little Chastain rant, if her shot about a sense of entitlement wasn't regarding the players, at whom is it directed? And this conversation took place on Thursday, before the team blew up against Brazil? Didn't Hamm and Foudy (not Chastain) build this team, and work with Feds, to make the path easier for future squads? What the hell does she want from them? Should this team exclusively book their stays at cockroach infested hotels just to fight for their team and place?

i didnt make a comment directly about the age...just that foudy came up with that group of players so I assumed her loyalties would be undying toward them. how old everyone is does not matter one iota

The "find me disgraceful" and "to those who despise me" nuggets were your suggestions, right?

I can tell you USSoccer will lose. Why? Unlike 2003, this is the day of the blog. Hope posting a comment on her myspace page was BRILLIANT. she targets the people who support her who will im sure turn around and share it with the media. It is amazing how fast we can update and share information these days. I am sure us soccer is standing like a deer in headlights. Its the information age, and the power is in the people. You can try to spin it all you want, but we have access to information and a more powerful median to share it.

Re: Hope interview: behind the scenes

Just speaking about the bolded part, that's the way I felt when I actually read the quote. Here is the quote .......... "'Hope, do you want to comment?' The press person for the U.S., Aaron Heifetz, said out loud to me, 'She didn't play, you only want to talk to people who played the game.' Hope spun on her heels when she heard Heifetz say that and said, No, I want to talk!'"

Huh? You only want to talk to people who played the game? I think her comments hit out at Brianna a little too much. Having said that, the PR guy deserved what he/she got for trying to regulate Hope like he/she did. It seemed to me that Hope was going to go to the bus until she felt that she had been slighted again by someone in the system. again, i'm not excusing the shots that i believe lashed out at Scurry too much, but the PR person brought Hope's wrath on him/herself. Without his/her shot, we probably wouldn't even HAVE comments from Hope to be talking about today.

    Re: Hope Issues Statement

i never thought she was trying to throw scurry under the bus. sure, i could see how it'd be easy to think that, and how maybe scurry could come out looking bad from what solo said, but i'm pretty sure if she was trying to throw anyone under the bus, it was ryan.

sure, solo could have handled the situation better, and is ultimately responsible for whatever fallout comes, but considering how baffling coach ryans switch was to everyone but himself, and considering the outcome, i think she was remarkably restrained.

Re: it only gets crazier, new vids on espn about Hope

    Email to Julie Foudy:

I think your comments about Hope Solo are harsh; she was commenting on the coaching decision, not Brianna Scurry. Those of us who are passionate about this sport see in Hope Solo a winning combination of fire and passion.

Her decision to say something in the heat of the moment about her true feelings, prompted as I see it by the attempt of the flack squelch her, may offend those who want everything to follow the Marquis of Queensberry rules, but I think Greg Ryan's decision-making and coaching actually worked to smother this much-needed passion from what I saw on the field in this tournament, having watched every game, and having been a long-time supporter, and having seen this team in earlier tournaments live.

Why are they playing long ball? Why are they uncomfortable on the ball? Why does a new keeper get put in for the most important game, only to be beaten near-post? We all saw the same game you saw, and saw the same problems you correctly indentified. But I think Hope Solo is part of the solution, not the problem.

Crimson as i have said before, Jim Mike hasent been seen since he went under the bus to interview hope and bri. Apparently ryan ran him over with everyone else in the process. Now THAT would make a GREAT nike Commercial !!! LOL

Re: Hope Goes Balistic at News Conference

I hate to disagree, but the idea that whining in public is "gutsy" is pretty disgusting. This was the time to say "we're all really devastated right now, and I wish I'd had the chance to make a difference in this game. Now I'm going to do whatever it takes to help us bounce back and represent the United States with honor in the 3rd place match." The WNT actually stood for something besides, "I'm not getting my minutes" back in the day, and ironically, that makes the team stronger on the field as well.

I hope the federation sticks with Ryan, they might as well use the experience they paid for and hope he can bring the team to the Olympics with more maturity as a coach - he's been successful at every level and I think he can get to this level, too. Of course, US Soccer did everything on the cheap here - not bringing Colleen Hacker, prepping against crap teams instead of Norway, China, etc. Hopefully, Solo didn't just deep six the new women's pro league by looking like a selfish idiot in public.

So she ignored US Soccer's version of a media whore, good for her. Press monkeys are way overrated.
