Actually, we don't see enough of Seattle fans out here to care enough to hate you. Some of us are jealous that it sounds like you will get a gift wrapped franchise without having to jump through the same hoops as other expansion candidates.

Don't forget Seattle has been trying for about 10 years. Plus I did vote yes on Qwest stadium not just for the Seahawks but for MLS. And I'm still paying for it with my taxes. Thats a hoop.

Please see RSL (2003), San Jose (2008). etc...

And as southsound states, we have already jumped through those hoops and built a stadium that is great for soccer.

Regardless of what people on Big Soccer think, there really are no set rules.
Sure, they would like it if the investment group had a solid SSS plan, but it seems like they are also open to other ideas.

If an MLS team plays at Qwest Stadium, don't you think you'll suffer from an image problem similar to the Kansas City Wizards? Even if you average 20,000+ a match, two-thirds of the stadium will still be empty.

Unlike Kansas City, 2/3 of the stadium will not be visible during a TV broadcast. You do not even see the break of the lower bowl because of the angle of the seating. Unless a camera person purposely shoots the empty upper bowl..... it will not be noticed.

Good point, about the what would be seen on TV. And, because of the design of arrowhead, and the placement of the camera stations, it's virtually impossible to NOT show the empty seats. The primary camera locations at Qwest have angles that show only the lower bowl. And all of you Qwest haters, before you tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, watch a Seahawks game at Qwest, and tell me how many times the upper bowl is shown that ISN'T deliberate. That would be,..........never!

If we put 20,000 people in the seats I guarantee it will be louder than any stadium in MLS. We all know it's the loudest stadium. Now what do you think that would do for our image?

Seattle fans imagine if they put a promotion on like the one on this Thursday at Dallas. $1.00 beers a hour and a half before kick off.. Instead we pay $7.00 or more for beer.

Qwest and RFK would be two of the best stadiums in MLS. Both NFL sized, but made for the fan and atmosphere in mind. Really, the only large stadiums suited for MLS sized crowds.

You forget, Qwest was designed specifically to direct the crowd noise on to the field. Just ask Eli Manning how loud it can get! :D 20k+ at Qwest probably wouldn't match the 110+ decibels of the 67k for a Seahawks game, but I'm sure it could top any SSS in the US, roof or no roof.

Love Qwest, its the loudest place I have ever been to, amazing I was just there 2 weeksw ago for the Hawks season Opener. Love RFK too been there several times for multiple events sure its old but its one of the easiest stadiums to get to due to the Metro. Seriously everytime I have ever been to RFK i have had a blast. If Qwest is our home filed then let it be, Just give us a damn team!:)

I went to a stones concert at Qwest and I thought clarity of the music sucked. It wasn't made for concerts. That's why I think if we do build a SSS in one of the 7 sites we could have concerts in it. NOT saying I want the stadium to host them. I'm just saying it could. With White river and it's traffic and being about an hour away from Seattle. It could be something to think about.

I don't understand. Do Seattle MLS supporters actually PREFER Qwest to an SSS or do they want an SSS a few years down the road?

Re: So much hate towards Seattle MLS.....

Speaking for myself, I will support the team regardless of where they play. The ideal location for a new stadium would be near Qwest & Safeco, because all of the area transportation sources (freeways, buses, commuter trains, and, in 2009, light rail) all converge right there. Unfortunately, the land would cost as much as the stadium itself. What owner wants to plunk down $250mil+ on a stadium? And forget public funding. If the lawmakers of the area aren't willing to fund a new arena for a team that has been here for 40 years, they sure as hell won't for a new team. And there is no cheap land anywhere within 20 miles of Seattle.
I think that if Seattle is to get an MLS franchise, it has to be this go around, or it could be 20 years, or more, before we get another opportunity. And the only way that's going to happen is if Qwest is the home, at least for the first few years.

Re: So much hate towards Seattle MLS.....

The political climate surrounding a stadium issue would be a nightmare. I also think Seattle will surprise people and do a good job of making Qwest a home for MLS. I have no doubt that we will see crowds that are near the top of the league in attendance WITHOUT having to fudge like LA does with HDC. They report 27,000 every game when you can see the place isn't nearly 3/4 full. Eventually ownership will make a decision about a stadium and then will spend the money necessary to build if they decide to do so. I agree with thanatos that I'll watch them play in any situation. The fact that this bothers people 3000 miles away is a freakin joke to me. They are not going to be the ones who will be buying tickets and supporting the club.

Although the thought of defending the Galaxy causes the bile to rise in my throat, they report 27,000 because they have sold that many tickets. Attendance is never reported as how many actually go through the turnstiles. Many are not coming to the games because Beckham is not playing and the team sucks.

Well, the city and state have been remarkably willing to keep funding negotiations ongoing just not at the insane level that Okie wanted. Which I figure was pretty much his plan - blame intransigence on the part of the local authorities after asking for the moon.

I haven't heard anybody mention this, but is Quest Field Management going to handle taking the NFL lines off the field before Sounder games? Is that even possible? Can somebody confirm this??

I know Quest Field will be a great venue for MLS, but geez they need to keep those frickin football lines off the field!!!!!!!!!

Thats probably what most outsiders are concerned about, imho. (Not a hater ok, don't flame me)

Re: So much hate towards Seattle MLS.....

It happens in many places throughout the league. Even SSS have football lines during the fall. PHP, Columbus are a couple that come to mind. NY,NE and KC have NFL lines, Houston and RSL have college lines so chances are that you will be able to see NFL lines during the last couple of months in Seattle. The word is that they will be removed for MLS games but will probably still be faintly visible. Deal with it.
