It seems that the reason Jeremiah White was subbed out in the match against Randers was because he got slightly injured... But it is nothing serious, according the the official AGF website :

Jeremiah White also got very good grades for the Randers match, at mtac :

    9 Jeremiah White : "a constant threat"

... I found a better interview (in English) with Williams about his debut and the difference between Danish and Swedish soccer :

Having Williams around will be good for Jerry. This will give him a mobile outlet, someone to combine with.

BTW, Mike Tullberg signed for only €200K net with Reggina. (plus, probably the usual allowances for a car and so on)

AGF have looked fairly good in defense and very good in midfield, but lacked the needed punch in attack, mainly because the former Superliga topscorer Graulund is in some sort of a scoring crisis and AGF really have had no other top class forwards to support him and help him back on track.. AGF have several very young talented forwards, but they are way too young to play from start in the Superliga, so AGF was in serious need of a classy forward like Williams..

1½ year ago Tullberg was playing 4th level soccer for free at a small club. He then moved to AGF as a young prospect, mainly to warm the bench and hoping to get a few games in the Danish 1st division... Because White is no real forward and Graulund was in a scoring crisis, he then a bit by chance got to play a few games in the Superliga, scores an excellent goal against Brøndby and suddenly end up getting sold for $1.4 million to an Italian serie A club.. It's actually quite surreal, especially when you consider that he has never been called up to play for any of the Danish youth NT's at any age group, but then it gave AGF some extra $$ to sign a real classy looking forward :D

Sounds like the opportunity that is borne from when a young player puts himsef in a window that is highly scouted by other Euro leagues frequently, where his performance is quantifiable because it occurs in a league which is well known and in which the club owning his contract doesn't pump up the value of his transfer fee....

Well, Reggina are known to sign players in Denmark. They also signed the fairly unknown 22-yo defender Kris Stadsgaard (fee $2 million) from FC Nordsjælland a day before they signed Tullberg... and last season they signed the Danish U18 International Nicki Bille Nielsen from the 2nd level club BK Frem and the 24-yo Serbian goalkeeper, Nenad Novakovic, only a month after he had joined OB Odense from a Danish 3rd level team.

But you are right, the Danish league (and also the lower levels) are by far the most heavily scouted in Scandinavia and also by far the most scouted among the smaller countries in all of Europe...

The reasons for this is that Denmark is well known for it's excellent talent development programs and because the clubs are usually not affraid of using young players as regular starters, instead of just buying an older more experienced foreign "name" ... Just look at Tullberg, Lumb or Gjesing and now also Dioh Williams at AGF, not to forget that most of the AGF lineup are in their mid or early 20's, which is also the case for several other teams in the Superliga, like Heath Pearce former club FCN ... Ofcause ther are also young Danish players who are almost born to move abroad, like young Kasper Schmeichel (son of Peter) at Manchester City or Andreas Retz Laudrup (son of Michael) at Real Madrid :D

Danish top clubs also deliberately sign and develop alot of foreign talents for export... It is no secret that Dioh Williams was mainly signed by AGF because of his great sales potential, the same could be said about Jeremiah White and the Icelandic international Kári Árnason ... and do I have to mention Swedish Johan Elmander who was not all that big a success when he came to Brøndby from the Dutch league, but then rather quickly developed into a big Star and also got instant success when he moved to Toulouse last season...

Another (foreign) "Tullberg" was the young Brazilian Tulio De Melo who moved straight from being a young successfull sub at AaB Aalborg to doing very well in the French League playing for Le Mans...

Ther are also very many Danes playing in the Bundesliga and the Dutch league.. They are perhaps not all among the Stars, but they are know to adapt easily and you also fairly often see a Danish player in Kicker's Bundesliga 'team of the Round' (11 times last season), so young Danish players are always rather popular in Germany and not all too expensive to sign.

Well, the surprising 'last minute' Tullberg and Stadsgaard deals with Reggina just show that the Danish transfer market often can seem a bit surreal... Like it's some football manager game your playing on your computer and not actually for real :D ..

    Superliga round 10 :

    AGF Aarhus v FC Nordsjælland 1-2 (0-2)
    0-1 Martin Bernburg (21)
    0-2 Martin Bernburg (23)
    1-2 Alex Valencia (75)
Red card: Jeremiah White, AGF (76)
    Attendance: 8,863

    AGF lineup (4-4-2):

    ................................. Steffen Rasmussen (24)

    U. Lindkvist (26).. O. Budtz (28).. Kim Madsen (28).. M. Lumb (19)

    Jeremiah White (25).. J. Lucena (27).. K. Árnason (24).. J. Gjesing (25)

    ................. Dioh Williams (22)... Peter Graulund (30)

    Subs:
    Gjesing / Lars Pleidrup (61')
    Árnason / Alex Valencia (61')
Graulund / Garra Dembélé (debut) (72')

AGF was attacking from start and creating some fairly big opportunities by Williams, Graulund and White the first 12 minutes, but then FCN slowly took charge in midfield and if not for some very poor refereeing they should also have been awarded a penalty and perhaps also a red card to the AGF keeper, so it was suddenly the FCN players who were moving the ball around quicker and also looked that bit sharper in attack. Especially the Canadian international Issey Nakajima-Farran and the young FCN forward Martin Bernburg were looking great for the away team, that managed to score two quick goals in the 21th and 23rd minute. FCN then hit the breaks a bit and White saw a free kick shot saved by the keeper in the 34th minute, but to be honest the shot went too straight at the keeper to be a real threat. At the end of the first half AGF midfielder Kári Árnason also saw his shot hit the FCN woodwork, but since the FCN players all-in-all seemed quicker on the ball and sharper in attack, it was only fair that FCN was one or two goals up at half time.

In the last 45 minutes the AGF players were really pushing forward, but besides an excellent goal by Alex Valencia, AGF had great trouble creating real clear-cut opportunities the first 30 minutes and the referee ruined the last 15 minutes of the match by making some some huge mistakes. First by handing Jeremiah White his 2nd yellow card and sending him off for a tackle that was made by Garra Dembélé right after AGF had scored the 1-2 goal and looked like they could turn this match around. Two minutes later the referee then overlooked that AGF defender Ulrik Lindkvist deliberately was playing handball in the penalty area, which should have resulted in a red card and a penalty. So neither AGF or FCN could be happy with the scandalously poor refereeing and AGF Sporting Director Brian Steen Nielsen also filed an official complaint straight after Jeremiah White was send off, in hope of preventing a match ban to White.. So now it is up to the Danish FA's disciplinary committee to decide what to do.

Ceres, thanks for mentioning the appeal, I wanted to ask about that. It seems obvious, since mistaken identity is the one clear cut reason to have a car rescinded, but none of the other recaps I've read mentioned it.

Please give us an update when there is news as I'm sure that no other english language news outlets will be paying attention.
