you guys don't notice that germany hardly ever cross the ball in the air from the sides, unless it is to a dead open man in a too obvious to ignore position?

they always look for guys in middle positions to pass along the ground.

the "fullback" is a guy who creates opportunities for this to happen. so he isn't needed to cross.

the only crossing that really happens is short crosses in the air from a mid-range position.

I think the next friendly game, Friedrich should take the PK if we get one ;)

Hm, then why did Friedrich place numerous (supposed) crosses behind our opponents' goals during the World Cup?

   ;)

Not only that but a lot of his long range shots really count as Barry Bonds streroid injections

Of course he has no real offensive game (although he's scored many more goals than Jansen and Lahm have ever done in the Bundesliga). He doesn't have the necessary pace or technical ability to be a true RB, but he has more than enough to be a CB.

Where do I have to sign that? Arne once again confirmed his qualities as a CB against Romania. But seeing him play as a RB makes me want to turn off the TV (to say it politely).

Well at least Favre plays him at the CB role for Hertha. Although last year, Chahed made me cringe as well ;). At least we won't worry about him joining the NT, at least atm.

But at the very least at RB, Friedrich can defend. Ask Carlos Tevez. Friedrich actually outplayed Lahm that day.

Because he was ignoring guys in better short passing positions. Ie. that was bad play on his part

He had some bad crosses yeah. But don't make it out like he had 5 per game.

Because of the passing inside from the sides, friedrich can play, as he can defend very, very well.

But yeah, whatever, I don't really care as long as jansen improves defensively a bit. And makes sure that he looks for a pass first rather than a cross.
