If you get a chance, listen to Rev Radio. Jim Dow was on and I thought he did a good job talking about the lack of Rev depth and signings...and if you can believe it, Brad very much made it clear that he is also bummed the Revs haven't signed anyone (he just can't always say it on broadcasts). Jim made some great comments and articulated well the perceived flaws in the Revs roster right now and what that may mean to the rest of the season. The one time I disagreed with Jim was when he mentioned that he liked the fact that the Revs have an "identity" as the equivalent of a Chivas USA(instead of playing mexican american players, the Revs play with young draft choices they develop). Brad made the comment that that is NOT the Revs policy to only draft players and try to develop them. He said if good established players were available, the Revs would scoop them up. Would have loved those last 2 comments to have been continued to be discussed in more detail, especially given the facts over the last 3 years. Regardless, great job Jim and great job by Rev Radio to continue to get a variety of guests to talk soccer and the Revs.
Thanks for the notice! This is great. Listening to Eric Draegsbeck now ... knowledgable guy (not just because he agrees with me on the topics they've discussed so far). Does he post here? Nice props by him to the Riders BTW.
Just listened to it. Jim said almost everything I've been thinking in regards to the front office's inactivity, only far more eloquently and rationally than I ever could have.
You know I was thinking about this - and maybe Jim can answer for himself - but was this a "clever ploy" by Jim to make this statement? Because if would force anyone within the Revs org to say - of course, that is not our policy. Which would then always beg the followup question - then why the struggle to bring players into the Revs outside of the draft?? Jim, if this was you intention, then very clever, my man - and even more props.
