Perhaps I should have changed my wording. I can't believe that we've burned through 500 posts on a non-Arsenal topic.

If this board can go through 3 threads on just the new kit, we can do loads on other topics!

    THAT was nuts.

Anyway, did anyone hear about Keith Gillespie and Paul McCartney having a fight on Northern Ireland's flight back from Iceland? Methinks McCartney wound him up so much about the own goal he scored that Gillespie just smacked him one :D

Good point. I was amazed that we were going through what felt like a Transfer thread a day during August.

At least we can be pretty sure it wasn't George Harrison.

OK, getting kind of tangential here, but Janis v Mama Cass would be an interesting bout.

One of my favorite stories re Janis has to do with a time she was playing with the Dead. After the show, a bunch of folks were sitting around passing a bottle of SoCo around. It got to Janis, and she took a swig that pretty much used up about 2/3 of the bottle. Someone said, "That's not very ladylike Janis". To which Jerry Garcia replied, "That ain't no lady!"

    Arsenal=Life=Arsenal

As the apostle Paul said in Fever Pitch

"It's not easy to become a football fan. It takes years. But if you put in the hours you're welcomed, without question, into a new family.
Except in this family, you care about the same people and hope for the same things.
    And what's childish about that

Football has meant too much to me, and come to represent too many things.

See, after a while, it all gets mixed up in your head, and you can't remember whether life's sh!t because Arsenal are sh!t or the other way around.

I've been to watch too many games, and spent too much money, and fretted about Arsenal when I should have been fretting about something else. I've asked too much of the people I love.

OK. I can accept all that.

... But I don't know, perhaps, it's something you can't understand unless you belong?

What about this? Three minutes to go and you're two--one up in a semi-final and you look around and you see all those thousands of faces contorted with fear and hope and worry, everyone lost, everything else gone out of their heads... Then the whistle blows and everyone goes to spare, and just for those few minutes, you're at the centre of the whole world. And the fact that you care so much, that the noise you have made has been such a crucial part of it all, is what makes it special.
Because you've seen every bit as important as the players, and if you hadn't been there, then who'd be bothered about football, really?

And the great thing is it comes round again and again. There's always another season. You lose the Cup final in May, well there's the third round to look forward to in January. And what's wrong with that? It's actually pretty comforting if you think about it.

But every now and then--not very often, but it happens--you catch a glimpse of a world that doesn't work like that--a world that doesn't stop in May and begin again in August. There's some stuff that just never comes back, and some stuff that just won't go away, and some stuff that you can't ignore even if you wanted to."

There is no such thing as a non Arsenal topic

Janis once flipped off my high school journalism teacher. The closest connection I have to an old time rock star!

Nor much action in here today.

Dempsey with another goal for Fulham today... he's playing great.

Are you starting to re-evaluate your ceiling on him? I think I am.

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe he could make a move to a lower top-half side. Not now obviously... But I had always kind of pigeoned him to bottom half quality... But if he scores goals regularly, it can make you wonder about whether he belongs out of the relegation zone.

After his performance against Tottenham you have to wonder. He put that team on his shoulders.

Boro just collapsed, letting Wet Spam score 2 goals in the first 5 minutes of the second half. The second was a Luke Young own goal.

Bojan is going to be a very sad story. Either for Bojan, or every other top flight team in the world.
