Not until Fire fans are able to get girlfriends so that they have more pressing engagements.

So, what I'm saying is never.

There was no chanting back at 'em from 103?

Maybe because you cannot hear the upper deck in 103?

    Just a thought.

I watched their whole rain delay display wondering when one of our groups would show up to chant back or make some attempt to drown them out. Finally a group showed up...that consisted of a handfull of 10-12 year old girls.

    What a shitty fucking night.

Maybe because some people were underneath the bleachers behind 103 having a good time.

Why the fcuk on earth should the groups roam the stadium looking for the Fire fans? What purpose does it serve?

the "this is our house" shit at the end is what pisses me off... that and they get fukcing busloads of people to come. Our FO could give two shits about helping us organize stuff. Maybe Wilt for GM might not be a bad move, and it sure would piss off (on) the fire fans!

Maybe hearing them chant "this is our house" while hundred's of casual crew fans gather around to watch does not bother you but it bugged the hell out of me.

Since they were under 107/108 you really would not of had to roam the stadium. I can't imagine you couldn't hear them from under 103.

Please don't take this as me baiting or provoking hool. But besides my overall frustration at the 2007 and previous seasons, seeing other supporter clubs whooping it up in our house, COLLECTIVELY, in unison, with no level of discord or segregation amongst their few smaller groups. I'm just sick of it.

I am not trying to start anything either. All I am saying is that rain delay display by their fans, the game itself, and the weather made for one terrible evening. It was just a slap in the face reminder of how shitty thngs are in crewville.

Instead of being enthralled with them, perhaps you could have made the effort to go down behind 103.

    There was plenty going on.

seriously. Why even concern yourself with what they do?

Granted I only watched 30 seconds of it, but that was because they were annoying, and just plain stupid, not because I got my dander all up in rage. This is a situation where you give them their rope to hang themselves. Wonder bread kids trying to chant, very poorly, in spanish. Please people.

I'm all for a good ribbing, but what the hell is chanting back at them going to accomplish?

You know what, I've come to the no-brainer conclusion that winning cures all supporter culture ills. If the Crew were consistant winners, then we'd have our OWN supporters groups more in unison, true or false? I hate to play the comparison game, but K.C. has grown stronger in unified numbers, while Houston doesn't have a problem doing songs in English and Spanish. How the hell does Portland pull a huge group like that each game? Why do I care? Because I love the game, the Crew, and the supporter culture too much not to care. Maybe that's too deep for some to understand. BTW I DO have a life outside of the sport.

This might be the solution right now in MLS, but this is certainly something that not every team can do. Winning fixes everything is not a league wide solution, because when Crew win, somebody else loses, when Dallas wins, somebody else loses. If you have several teams that dominate, you also typically have several teams that can't buy a win.

Winning helps in the short term, but it's the culture that must become ingrained that will make it not matter if the team is playing well or not. The truest testiment to a supporters group/culture is when it still thrives when the team is playing poorly and not getting results. This is when you know people are with you thick or thin... like all you losers that support the Browns no matter what (j/k). But seriously, you still get lots of support for the worst NFL teams out there, whether its in Tampa or San Fran. or Houston or Minnesota.

I don't have an answer for you on how to establish that without waiting 40 years.

And what did you do, just stand there and take it no matter how much it bothered you? You can't demand others fight your battles for you if you're never willing to join in on the cause. As for the distance between 108 and 103, I remember during the DC rain delay that 103 was loud as hell getting crazy under the stands, and I took a break to hit the bathroom and then go to the ATM. I sure didn't hear the DC group until I got a hell of a lot closer, let alone from up where the 103 group was at. Get over yourself and do something if it bugs you so much.

What's the point, personally I was bored after 30 seconds and didn't find any reason to change that.

Look the fact is that most fans no matter how die hard they may be have completely lost their spirit for this team. We have sucked for 3 years straight now and there seems to be no signs of that changing. The year before that we played some of the most boring soccer ever played in this league, victory through somnambulism. Until this team starts playing winning and exciting soccer the only cheering you are going to get is from the ever shrinking clusters of supporters groups and even those have become noticeably quieter since our "streak" ended.

You also overlook the fact that both Chicago and DC fans and management have been working on that kind of atmosphere from day one. This effort includes building quality FO's and teams as well as actively supporting their cheering sections. We have not had a FO that even pretended to care about supporter groups until MM. Prior to that we had Jamie Roots whose NFL background precluded him from understanding the supporter atmosphere that is a part of the soccer culture and Jim Smith who came from OSUschool of sports marketing (Dammit, you're lucky we let you watch our teams so just shut up and give us your money), 'nuff said.

I think if you are realistic about the situation the reasons why our supporters are constantly being out sang by the visiting groups is pretty obvious. Sorry to seem so dour but the fact is that the Crew have developed a culture of failure and that exhibits itself in the stands in lackluster support.

Just a disclaimer. As much as I'm passionate about the Crew, I don't let it ruin my life.

Doesn't matter win or lose. There are about 150 real fans in Columbus and the rest are the mindless, passionless, lifeless zombies that stand around and watch you as you sing and take pictures of you as if you were an exotic animal in the zoo. Just one more realization that I came to at this game which I tried like hell to ignore for a long time.

I didn't demand a damn thing there shnitzel boy. I just wondered if anyone was going to show up.

I just find it hard to believe that opposing supporters come into our stadium, chant this is our house, and telling from the posts in this thread our support groups are OK with it.

    So sad.

I am done with this thread, unfortunately it seems TimD is right.

    Go Crew!

Were you expecting a Zoolander walk-off? Did you want 103 to play the White Knight to your Damsel in Distress? Do you expect that singing a different song at them is going to make them stop?

    Jesus, you're a whiny one.

I don't know, on the whole I had a rather nice time on my first trip to Crew stadium. It was a little cold on the bus ride back though...;)

Jesus Christ, how many times are we going to rehash this same shit?

1.) Why didn't we go 'chant back' at them? I don't know. Maybe we were busy having a blast over in our section of the stadium. Couldn't hear us? Don't care. We couldn't hear them either.

2.) There's only 150 'real fans?' You know what? Standing and chanting for 90 minutes isn't for everybody. Get over it. Everyone else in the stadium pays the same money we do to support the club. No, correction: some of them pay a lot more. Go tell a family of four who's shelling out two grand for club seats every year that they're not 'real fans.' As if we need one more discussion on this topic.

3.) Why can't we join together and be more like the Fire fans? Thank you very much. We were just one more goddamn whiny ass thread away from having a huge, wonderful, unified supporters' group. Until now. This thread finally cleared everything up and we can now move forward.

If you don't like the way things are being done with the supporters' groups, try doing something about it other than sitting on your ass in front of a computer posting on a message board complaining that someone else isn't doing things right. We're at Tommy Keegan's before and after every match. If you have input, take it down there. This isn't the place.

And please, Crew fans. Let's get over the damn inferiority complex. Our supporters' groups are what they are. Take it or leave it.
