A.Q. numbers 1 & 2 still alive and busy releasing propaganda videos like a H.S. A/V club. 3,000 innocent people died at the hands of these scumbags. Why can't we track them down? If not, why can't Pakistan do it for us? It's a thorn in our sides every time they pop up in the news again. I can just imagine what 9/11 families think when they see them.

Because those in charge rather stop Saddam from breathing.

And while we're at it, why hasn't anyone gotten rid of Delilah?

I thought we had the most sophisticated intelligence network in the world and had lots of friends (Mossad, MI6) willing to help out.

And yet it took us five years to find Eric Rudolph.

pretty simple really...our government needs him alive more than it needs him dead.

...but isn't this pretty much accepted fact by now? (that is, outside of the proud 27% or whatever it is now).

Has anyone not read 1984? He isn't alive. The government just releases videos of the guy that they create to keep us all in line.

I dont buy this.. Why does the government need him alive? (Obviously, the response is going to be with him still at large, Bush can continue to use that as a crutch to do what he wants, and to get support whatever plan he comes up with, etc, etc)

But you dont think his approval would skyrocket if OBL was killed??

I mean he would still continue on about how other Aq threats exist, etc, but I dont buy the arguement that you put forth.

OK, try this one out for a conspiracy theory. They already have Bin Laden, but don't want to let people know so they can continue their War on Terror© unhindered, lining their pockets with crude oil or whatever. Later, let's say the last week of the Bush presidency, they will make a huge production showing how they "just" caught the sneaky evildoer (somewhere in Iraq, preferably), and how all the wiretaps and whatnot were absolutely right and justified; and Bush leaves office smelling like roses and going down in the history books as the bestest prez-o-dent ever. ;)

Was that even a complete sentence?

It may have took 5 years, but I would argue that that is incredibly too long for a guy who was caught dumpster diving outside a safeway. Not to mention there weren't nearly as many resources, people, or hell even countries looking for Rudolph.

BTW, its been 6 years for bin Laden, plus countless intelligence and close calls we had on the guy BEFORE 9/11.

So again, please spare us the rhetoric.

No it wasn't a complete sentence because I don't need to drop the F bomb to say what I want to say.

You can stick that comment up your and rinse it off on your tonsils.

Actually I do want to make a factual correction. At the time he was hiding I did a lot of fishing Macon. We wasted a lot of money looking for that guy. The FBI has some really snazy helicopters.

Bush doesnt give a shit about his approval ratings, never has. He's a goddamn mule, and at this point doesnt have anything left to lose by continuing to be so. As long as he a) doesnt have to admit he did anything wrong and b) gets to continue to steer US and Iraqi resources toward his buddies, he's good to go. If OBL helps him do that, then he'll continue to, at least passively, allow OBL to continue to exist by not making him a priority.
